Moving closer to the goal

Sitting in my spot, I see a lot of good things going on and a lot of frustrating things. We all know the blogs aren't working correctly on www.JournalStar.com because of the commenting issues, among other concerns. But there are plans in the works for big improvements.

A bright spot has been the growing community on my.JournalStar.com. A few hundred people have been signing up for accounts every day, and the Husker football forum is taking off like a shot, with quite a bit of good, thoughtful discussion.

I hope anyone who notices trolls or other unsportsmanlike conduct will take the time to push the Report button on the forum posts or blogs so that we can deal with those as soon as possible. Pushing the Report button sends an e-mail to us within seconds with a link to view and possibly remove the problem post. Your reporting of the problem post will be confidential. Because we can't take the time to read all posts, it's critical for our users to take the steps needed to make this a safe, civil place for discussion.

I also wanted to express appreciation for the lengths to which our users have gone to help others negotiate the new system. Great job!

You have been monitoring the discussions and trying to react in a positive manner ... Hard to ask for more and I remain confident that this new site will continue to respond to concerns and improve in the days and weeks ahead.
