Updates from NU-ISU volleyball
Posted by: Todd Henrichs on November 7, 2009 at 7:47PM CST
We're still 15 minutes from 8:00 first serve in Ames. I wasn't sure if the crowd would make it back 2 1/2 hours after the football game ended, but they've turned out. We could be 8,000-plus tonight.

It's No. 8 Iowa State ... coming off Wednesday's win over No. 2 Texas ... against the No. 10 Huskers, who are looking to avenge their loss to the Cyclones last month in Lincoln.

This is going to be a capacity crowd ... given that one third of the arena is blocked off by a big curtain. Probably close to 10,000.

NU is up 15-12. Huskers have only allowed two ISU points on serve.

NU 19, ISU 12.
NU is on six-point run.

ISU was a little too tight. Big Red 1-0.

NU wins first set 25-16.
Huskers hit .375, served two aces and generally kept Iowa State from getting into any kind of rhythm.

Note that ISU lost the first set in all three recent five-set victories over Nebraska, Baylor and Texas.

NU up 10-5 in set two. We'll see if the Cyclones catch some fire, but they look like a team coming off a big win. And Nebraska is playing well. Low-error.

Todd - Live stats show KJ was in. Did she go in for Tara?

Posted by: Todd Henrichs on November 7, 2009 9:04PM CST
No, it's a screw up on the stats. She hasn't played.

ISU up 7-3 ... forcing a timeout.

Tonight's attendance: 10,203

NU has pulled ahead 21-20 and has a chance to close it out in 3.

NU up 23-21, winning a wild rally where the Cyclones started celebrating a bit too early.

23-21, Big Red!

Great job girls! Will be a nice trip back to Lincoln.

Thanks Todd - Great win tonight. Maybe ISU had a bit of a Texas hangover? Nice to see 5 players with 8 or more kills each.
