Thursday post-practice report
Posted by: Steve Sipple on November 5, 2009 at 6:45PM CST

* Leading off:  "I'm in the infant stages of my tenure. I'm not in the position right now to measure up to what Bob's done. He's won a national championship. He's won Big 12 championships. I'm finding my way and trying to build a program here. Obviously, he set a hell of a benchmark in how to go about that." -- Nebraska coach Bo Pelini on OU's Bob Stoops.

* Husker senior wideout Chris Brooks, who missed the last two games with a back injury, has practiced all week and will play Saturday, Pelini said. Cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, who reinjured his shoulder last week at Baylor, also will play. "He's fine," Pelini said. "No issues injury-wise."

* True freshman Cody Green made his first college start at quarterback for Nebraska last week. Husker coaches have been mum on whether Green will start again Saturday, or if junior Zac Lee will return to that role. Would Pelini consider alternating Green and Lee? "I don't know about alternating them, but I'm not afraid to use both guys in a game," the coach said.

Bam for the BIG RED!!! GO FOR THE WIN FELLERS

Interesting answer, not afraid to use both guys in a game... Both guys at the same time?? Things that make you go. HMmmmm....

Posted by: AndyHu2 on November 5, 2009 6:51PM CST
Thank the heavens Fonzo will be able to go at corner saturday! He's becoming a solid corner.

Posted by: throw46 on November 5, 2009 7:09PM CST
So Sip:
Your good at reading te leaves...who starts? Lee or Green.

Posted by: throw46 on November 5, 2009 7:13PM CST
Sorry, try it again.
Sip: Your good at reading tea leaves.....who starts?
Lee or Green.

Posted by: drivebyposter on November 5, 2009 7:21PM CST
I predict they will come in the "wild corncat" and no qb will start of the game. This will last for at least 4 series and will result in 20 points

Posted by: throw46 on November 5, 2009 7:23PM CST
driveby...As long as they don't continue running the cheese spread.....I good with that.

Posted by: Silicon Valley Husker on November 5, 2009 7:24PM CST
Sip says.........Earl Gray starts?

Posted by: NUCORNDEVIL on November 5, 2009 7:25PM CST
I just love this guy, Tom Osborne made a brilliant hire with Bo Pelini.
its a lock Green starts, he is much more of an offensive threat with half the NU offense than Lee is with a full slate.

Posted by: drivebyposter on November 5, 2009 7:44PM CST
throw,

I do hate that cheese-spread. It's so non-natural.

Posted by: Silicon Valley Husker on November 5, 2009 7:54PM CST
Throw...is this Cheez Wiz?

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 5, 2009 7:59PM CST
driveby,
what are you smokin? pass it around.

Posted by: Busiekcreek on November 5, 2009 8:11PM CST
I am believing Coach Pelini will be the enfant terrible along with the team on Saturday. Tear 'em up and leave the fans screaming for more.

Posted by: Huskersincebirth2 on November 5, 2009 8:21PM CST
Well... watching all these college football sports shows...

You'd think OU was going for their 100th straight National Championship and that Nebraska just jumped up from Div.1-AA the way they are talking about the game this weekend.

I am breathing the high moutain air for a natural high.

DBP. Actually, Rhythm is an old mothers tale.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 5, 2009 8:44PM CST
Feeling good. Better all the time. Special teams and Defense win it.

Posted by: no nothing on November 5, 2009 8:58PM CST
I love the flow of the information. The Stoops comparison to injured players are fine to I am not afraid to use both guys in the game. Sounds like we are ready after the Thursday practice report.

I can't wait for this game to get underway. I have to admit I don't know about this one. On one hand it is my Huskers and the other hand it is OU and we have not really played anyone yet and they have. We both have three losses. I have a feeling that what I see on Saturday night will be something.

Heard this evening that Jason Peter just became a Heisman voter. Good for him. Two time All American and three National Championship rings evidently does mean something to some folks along with his radio show.

No, Do you know Robka of the Napster?

Posted by: BleedingRed on November 5, 2009 9:02PM CST
What's up Husker Nation?

Who else is ready for a really exciting game Saturday?

Can Cody pull it off? I say he can. I know he can find a way to do it.

Always keep your eyes down field Cody. You will see something that you like.

Huskers win!

Posted by: PT Husker on November 5, 2009 9:18PM CST
Hope Trey can give us some semblance of a running game. Still saying Special teams and Defense. Hopefully the O can get Alex close a few times.

Posted by: BleedingRed on November 5, 2009 9:22PM CST
Keep the faith PT, it'll all come together for us.

Geez, I thought my clocks were wrong and was was like 03:00 a.m. or something.

Kind of dead around here. Like Christmas eve.
Well, tonight I am Santa and I got a sleigh full of Husker points to hand out.

Posted by: GBR in Texas on November 5, 2009 9:22PM CST
Evening boys and girls. Yep PT, a running game would be nice. A passing game to go along with it would be nice too. I think we'll move the ball much better than most believe we will.

Posted by: taco on November 5, 2009 9:24PM CST
bleeding red... i am ready. hope to see the Huskers play a good game. will be interesting as it always is. GO BIG IT IS WHAT IT IS.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 5, 2009 9:27PM CST
Bleeding my faith is fully intact. Once our d and special teams score a few the O can relax and just play the game. Way to much pressure they are putting on themselves IMO.

Posted by: BleedingRed on November 5, 2009 9:31PM CST
This team is something else. We are so much better than we have played. You can just see it in all phases of the game.

It's like we have been trying to light a fire in the rain. I think that all we need is a little team work. Someone has to find some dry kindle. Someone has to find some dry wood. Someone has to provide some cover to light the kindle. Others have to clear a path to get the sparks to the wood. Someone will have to fan the flames once they start. Before you know it someone will yell, now that's a fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of these days. One of these days, Alice! (Couldn't resist the Honeymooners reference) The Husker explosion is going to show up.

Posted by: huskers4_eva on November 5, 2009 9:32PM CST
I still like our chances against OU. There offense is nothing like it was last year and I think if our D can match up, it should be a low scoring game. Thats of course our offense doesn't give them free points. Look for Watson to finally pull the rabbit out of the hat this week.

Posted by: hskrnut on November 5, 2009 9:34PM CST
OK i am officaly sick of it, Cody Green is a freshman here ill spell it out for you F-R-E-S-H-M-A-N he is not the answer to all our hopes and dreams in a year of two that is a different story but he will not win the game for us against OU that is on the D to win that game. So enough of the "Green is the saviour" buisness im just sick of it!!

Posted by: The Old Scout on November 5, 2009 9:34PM CST
One of these two thoroughbred programs will walk off the field a 4 game loser. Still hard to get used too. If Nu were to falter it would have to be forty some plus years since they would have lost three home games in a row in a season.

Posted by: BleedingRed on November 5, 2009 9:35PM CST
Mr. Eric Martin,

Please take out a coverage guy. Then, please take out another. Before you know it we will be returning a kick.

Thank you.

Signed,
Go make a sooner forget they were even here.

Posted by: BleedingRed on November 5, 2009 9:37PM CST
hskmut,

He may not be your saviour but I pray to him every day.

Go Big Walk On Water Cody Green.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 5, 2009 9:38PM CST
Here is my script. Win the Toss. Paul runback the kick off. On the ensuing possession. suh get a pick 6 on the first play. Next Martin crushes the kick returner and someone scoops the fumble and scores. We are up 21 -0 and have not had an offensive play. Now we are playing with a good lead. Just relax and have fun.

Posted by: huskers4_eva on November 5, 2009 9:38PM CST
Cody Green is gonna take us places man. I just gotta feeling man. We're back on the right track.... Actually I have no idea how Green is gonna react to a big time game like this. I know Watson would say that he's not asking much from Cody and that he just wants to manage the game or something like that. But in all reality, if we wanna beat OU, we need Cody Green to be able to go out there and throw for over 200 while having a good run game as well. I just don't know if that gonna happen.

Posted by: huskers4_eva on November 5, 2009 9:41PM CST
You know what will probably happen on Saturday. Our offense will have 400 plus yards and score 31, while our D will give up 400 plus yards and give up 35.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 5, 2009 9:43PM CST
Slap your mouth boy.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 5, 2009 9:44PM CST
I don't think anybody likes my script.

Posted by: huskers4_eva on November 5, 2009 9:44PM CST
yes sir.

Posted by: hskrnut on November 5, 2009 9:44PM CST
if the offence never touches the ball in one of nebraskas games this year it will be a complete shutdown of the other team kinda sounds like a good idea like bo goes to the other coach says "you play all time offence we got D" kinda like backyard football and if we can get 2 or 3 big plays then we win but we would also need to let Alex come on and kick Field Goals.

I say from now on with what we have shown if we are in field goal range we kick it on 3rd down we have issues in the red zone and thats what we do any way so why not. (Much Sarcasim.)

huskers4_eva_and_eva,

Dude! Cody gets 318 in the air and 83 on the ground. The Doctor, (D)ontreyveous (R)obinson get 74. Niles has three really good returns. Brooks makes a killer diving catch. Gilleyen has a 62 yard TD catch.

I'd tell you the rest but I don't want to ruin it for the players.

Posted by: BleedingRed on November 5, 2009 9:48PM CST
PT,

I like your script. I just think that it is a little conservative.

Are you sure that you did not lose a page or two?

No Nothing - obviously your name is appropriate! WE HAVN'T played anybody yet! VT top 20, Misery - undefeated top 25, TT - not chopped liver! Who have Mooner Nooners played? Mormon U., M. Novicannes & TxASS ( hate to admit, maybe #1) - all close losses. Both are close to 1 loss or even undefeated! WHY Huskers didn't SHOW UP for TTech, I still don't understand! I ST was a game in a "PARALLEL UNIVERSE"!!! PS - Both teams significant losses - Okies (Bradford & Gresham) - NU ( QC!!, Burkhead, Lawrence, Spano, Thernanse, Helu - Not 100%) Huskers are schizophrenic - who knows what will happen!!!

Posted by: GBR in Texas on November 5, 2009 9:53PM CST
BR, that whole analogy story thing took alot of thought, nice "Honeymooners" reference btw. With all of that said I think you are exactly right. PT is calling for them to just relax and play...he is right too. It's almost as if each one of them individually thinks that he has the weight of the entire offense on his shoulders. If they could just relax and play, let the game come to them, I think you will see your explosion. Saturday would be a good time for that to happen.

Did anyone else see the add about Buzzed Driving.

Let me set the record straight.

Buzzed driving is NOT drunk driving.

Drunk driving is drunk driving.
Buzzed driving is buzzed driving.

If buzzed driving were drunk driving then it would be called drunk driving not buzzed driving.

There is always someone out there that attempts to warp the minds of our youth.

How about spending money on an add to ask people to make sure that they have a designated driver if they plan on drinking. Or ask that they drink and have a good time without drinking so much that they become an idiot and kill some family and/or little kids.

Quit trying to fool people and just say what you mean.

Geez!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: joe9wicket on November 5, 2009 9:57PM CST
just got done watching the '86 OU-NU game on Espnclassic.... man woman and child, I forgot how hard guys hit back then, I've seen that game 4 or 5 times, and every time I see it, I wonder how NU lost... stupid penalties and not managing the clock, lessons for this week. NU will win if we get a jump start in the first half, playing fast, hard, and strong.... and not letting off the gas in the second half. DO NOT let them off the hook, DO NOT turn the ball over, DO bleed clock, DO make first downs, DO force three and outs, DO give them the long field, and DO gain the short field. GO BIG RED! Stand by my prediction NU 28- OU 17. Sooner magic is dead.

The buzzed drivning add was up Sunday morning after Suh, boo boo. I wonder why?

Posted by: BleedingRed on November 5, 2009 10:02PM CST
NishBigRed,

You better marry that girl. You might want to listen to her once in a while too.

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 5, 2009 10:04PM CST
Bleeding,
She a sweet heart, only problem she's from TX and is a Red Raider fan.

Posted by: BleedingRed on November 5, 2009 10:06PM CST
NishBigRed,

That is my point. If whoever placed that add there intended it to be related in any way whatsoever to Suh then they are so far off base I just don't know what to tell them.

Posted by: GBR in Texas on November 5, 2009 10:07PM CST
I am watching a HS game on FoxSportsSW, two teams from our district, two of the top 4A teams in Texas, Denton Ryan and Denton Guyer. There is a boatload of talent between these two schools. BTW, for those interested, Ryan leads Guyer 50-29 with 5 minutes left.

Posted by: BleedingRed on November 5, 2009 10:08PM CST
Nish,

That's not a problem. That is an opportunity.

Here is what you do. When ever the Huskers play and win take her out to dinner.

When ever the Red Raiders play and win tell her that you want to go to bed early.

She'll be a Husker fan in no time.

I have to tell you, I am laughing pretty hard at that one.

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 5, 2009 10:10PM CST
I don't know, I think it is kind of funny. Kind of elementary. You have to wonder the story was told is the truth. Suh lucky his alcohol level wasn't higher. I'm sure it was earlier that evening. I know, I know I went to college to and partied with the rest of them.

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 5, 2009 10:14PM CST
Bleeding
She is aHusker fan this is her first full season. You should have heard her yelling at Zak during the Missery game, almost made this grown man blush. Sailors would have been offended. She had the chance to play for the Red Raiders......in the band lol!

Posted by: BleedingRed on November 5, 2009 10:17PM CST
Nish,

You might as well teach her about the trials and tribulations of being a Husker fan right off the bat.

When we win Saturday don't forget to take her out to dinner.

Posted by: GBR in Texas on November 5, 2009 10:18PM CST
Now Nish, there's nothing wrong with being in the band. A few of our fellow bloggers were in the Husker band way back when. Can't remember who they were though.

Posted by: GBR in Texas on November 5, 2009 10:21PM CST
Nish, that's a pretty good plan that BR has laid out for you. Only problem is that in a year, or two, going out to dinner every Saturday night could get kind of expensive!

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 5, 2009 10:21PM CST
ssshhhhh,
She already planning on where we are going out to eat, she is very optimistic. I have already sat her down and giving her, her Tom Osborne lessons and how the dimise of our program and be greatly related to the lack of use of the fulback. Haven't got to the Calllahan years yet, I don't want to send her into a depression.

Posted by: Ray in Bellevue on November 5, 2009 10:21PM CST
I haven't seen our offense do anything, other than the 4th qtr at Missouri, to suggest it is capable of scoring much against Oklahoma. Our defense might be able to keep us in the game for a while if the deep pass can be contained. But, barring a bunch of Sooner turnovers, chances of winning are about the same as making a 2 point conversion, which is considerably less than 50-50. I just don't see it happening, but I hope that I am wrong.

Posted by: BleedingRed on November 5, 2009 10:24PM CST
Well, I am calling it a night.

Everyone have a merry Christmas.

How to win:

- TAKE SHOTS DOWN FIELD
- No turnovers
- Alex Henry (both punting and Place kicking)
- OL gives QB time to pass
- WR actually try to get open (even if they know the ball isn't coming to them)

MOST IMPORTANTLY...

*****EXECUTION*****

So, Nish....what's your bet on who starts at QB? If you already answered that on this post, sorry....same drill as always...need a maid and a nanny...not enought time in my day to read everything.

Posted by: CaliHuskrgirl on November 5, 2009 11:24PM CST
Where is Silicon? I thought my fellow Nebraskan in California would be on? In keeping with last night's banter....his Avatar is still waiting for some pie!

Posted by: Huskersincebirth2 on November 5, 2009 11:24PM CST
I say Green starts.

It would ruin his confidence if you start him against Baylor... but not against OU.

It would say the coaching staff has no confidence in him at all... and he would be lost for the next 3 years.

You absolutely have to start Green this game, but tell him hey Zac will probably get some playing time too... that way if you have to pull him for a series or two he's ready for it, and wont think they are pulling him b/c he's not playing well.

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 5, 2009 11:25PM CST
Thats ok,
I'm going with Green to start, gosh you made me think. Yeah Grean. He is our best choice to win. I guess I forsee Lee getting some playing time. I'm hoping they might find a way to get both on the field at the same time.

Posted by: CaliHuskrgirl on November 5, 2009 11:26PM CST
Sincebirth.....do you think we have a QB controversy on our hands?

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 5, 2009 11:27PM CST
You know it might make sense for Zak to start the first offensive series, then go with Cody after the game settles down. Heck I don't know haven't had a clue this year. I really thought Zak would be playing better at this point.

ha, 100^^^, woot! ;)

Posted by: Huskersincebirth2 on November 5, 2009 11:31PM CST
CaliHuskergirl:

Ha ha... my dad asked me that question earlier today.

I think to some degree yes.

I only say that becuase I think both QB's are playing at about the same level. They want to go with Lee b/c he is the most experienced, but they want to go with Green b/c he is a better athlete, has more potential, and is the future of the program.

I honestly think they should try and make a package where both Lee and Green are out on the field.

Mayb have Lee out wide if he can catch or have Green line up off center as the IB in the Pistol so that Lee and Green are stagard a little bit. That way you can snap it to either Lee or Green...

Sincebirth....I agree. Go with Lee, who has more experience or go with Green, who has some years left here and a lot of potential. I like the idea of playing them both. Remember when Tebow was a frosh? That all turned out well for them/him.

Nish, I know you think I am nuts, but I still think we will beat OU......(picture me serving up some Kool-aid!) Grape or Hawaiian punch?

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 5, 2009 11:41PM CST
I'm out!!!

Posted by: Huskersincebirth2 on November 5, 2009 11:43PM CST
calihuskrgirl:

Yea, they need to use them both b/c at this point i think Lee is the better passer... but Green is a better runner.

I think that might open the offense a little better.

And as much as I hate to say it, we probably need to go in the Gun alot this game and the rest of the season. Give the QB an extra second or two in the backfield.

Posted by: bruNo on November 5, 2009 11:44PM CST
I would like the Hawaiian Punch plz, in keeping with the theme of what I hope we will do to the Soooners...

Posted by: CaliHuskrgirl on November 5, 2009 11:53PM CST
Sincebirth....if we get our running game going better. we won't need the Gun so much. Helu is our answer to not having a dire need for the Gun. Nish...punch is in the works. Special brew Hawaiian Punch. hee hee!

H birth,

yea, guess u r right... personally, I ain't a s'ker'd a no cyber wackos...

;)

Posted by: Huskersincebirth2 on November 5, 2009 11:57PM CST
calihuskrgirl:

Honestly it doesn't matter who we have in the backfield. Robinson is just as good too.

We need to take some shots down field, b/c right now all our passes are inside 10 yrds... that doesn't do anything.

Its not tough for a defense to defend both the run and the pass if there's only a 10yrd threat.

Taking shots down field would make the defenders respect the long pass... taking 2-4 defenders away from the run game...

Posted by: bruNo on November 6, 2009 12:01AM CST
what about me?! I placed an order for the 'Punch' to...:(

anyhoo, husker fans far and wide have been hoping, wishing, praying for a running game from our team for weeks, months years. are we there yet?

not really. Q was my fav player and they got rid of him.

we haven't had a great rusher at NE since Ahman. Helu is good, but nobody's been blocking for him this year, except vs VT which appears to have been an anomaly.

Posted by: CaliHuskrgirl on November 6, 2009 12:02AM CST
bruNo...are you implying that I am ugly? Maybe I am so freaking hot that I would burn this entire blog up if I posted my picture?

Posted by: bruNo on November 6, 2009 12:04AM CST
they better throw any long passes REALLY far downfield, like over everybody's head, since OU's dbs are faster than our WRs..

Posted by: bruNo on November 6, 2009 12:06AM CST
no caliG, I am not implying that, I am more implying that there's alot of paranoia in the world.

p.s., plz, 'burn it up'!

Posted by: CaliHuskrgirl on November 6, 2009 12:10AM CST
bruNo....I would "burn it up," but I have to be parenoid due to my line of work....the whole putting out fires thing. When I get out of witness protection...I'll burn it up with some really hot photos. =) Go Big Red!!!!

Posted by: bruNo on November 6, 2009 12:24AM CST
31-13 Sooners :(

Posted by: CaliHuskrgirl on November 6, 2009 12:29AM CST
I'm gonna go with........

17 NU
14 OU

Were you in on the blogs about the fact that I'm watching the game with a good friend of mine who happens to be a rabid OU fan? Last year was painful. =)

Posted by: bruNo on November 6, 2009 12:30AM CST

lived north of Hartford for about 6 months, that's as close as I got to there. Up to Springfield a couple of times

Posted by: bruNo on November 6, 2009 12:52AM CST
you like to play rough, eh? oooo-k....

hmm, anyhoooz, me thinks your prediction could stand should we force a bunch of TOs on Da Sooners and they just basically suck that day, and NU gets a long overdue miracle of a game.

i've been trying to refrain from the koolaid though this week, last yr's Sooner game I got all revved up for it and was really really pissed how it went, samr for the Mizzou game last year. Big Red has had some freakish 'no shows' in big games the last few-5 or 6-years.

Posted by: CaliHuskrgirl on November 6, 2009 12:53AM CST
Ya all crack me up! (she says with raised eyebrow) =)

So, Silicon.....what do you think of my prediction for this week-end?

Posted by: bruNo on November 6, 2009 12:53AM CST
Hartford is a very rough town, Springfield is just plain weird, like a twilight zone..

Posted by: bruNo on November 6, 2009 12:56AM CST
I lived in Seattle for 10 yrs, back in the day...

Posted by: Silicon Valley Husker on November 6, 2009 12:56AM CST
Yeah, I was actually in Windsor Locks. Just enough to be out of the city and in peaceful places.

Seems like we had a 17-14 Sooner game in the past.....Its possible but will require at least one defensive touchdown, I'm afraid. Maybe we'll hit a big play or two...its possible.

Posted by: bruNo on November 6, 2009 12:58AM CST
geez caligirl, so now I'm funny, but you didnt lol, or even *L* @ my teabagging rif which cracks me up everytime I think of it mainly cuz it was straight from the news today..

Posted by: CaliHuskrgirl on November 6, 2009 1:00AM CST
bruNo......I got really burned last year, too. I had to turn my cell phone off. It was too painful!!!!

During chats last night and the night before and probably the night before...I commented that it is about time for Bo to get his big breakthrough win. I'm still feeling it!!!!!

Posted by: bruNo on November 6, 2009 1:00AM CST
there were alot of 17-14 GBR/sooner games back in the day...

sooner magic usually prevailed much to the general dismay of big red nacione...

Posted by: bruNo on November 6, 2009 1:04AM CST
i dunno, they said clemson and mizzou were breakthru wins, but really, we are just struggling with new key players on O, namely the QB.

both zac and cody need time to grow, it's just the way it is, plus our O line is pretty disappointing which is the real surprise to me.

but yea, we need something like a 'W' over the Sooners...long overdue..

Posted by: CaliHuskrgirl on November 6, 2009 1:10AM CST
bruNo......I apologize for not giving you a LOL or something of that nature....now that I know you better, I will completely give you a giggle when you refer to teabagging.....or something similar! =)

I believe short term memory loss is a beautiful thing. Just two weeks ago, Iowa State comes in here and beats us in our house. After a great performance against Baylor last week, we have somehow completely turned this whole program around in one week to beat a team that has lost 3 games by a total of 5 points?

Ok, I think we got this one in the bag too( I am thinking about changing my screen name to Mr Optimistic). I am almost positive this was by far the best week of practice the coach has ever seen. Note how I am sitting myself up to be humiliated at about 11:00PM tomorrow night. Ole no nothing is prepared to take the beat down for the team if they pull this one off.

Everyone going to the game, have a safe trip and a great time.

Everybody at the LITR shindig, raise a glass for Busie

Good morning Busie. Haven't talked to you in awhile. My BF & I are heading to Lincoln around noon today. Can't wait to get up there. Just pulled up the weather forcast. Saturday during the day will be in the 70's lows in the 40's. Good football weather.

What time is the LSU/Alabama game? I'll be pulling for your Tigers!

Posted by: Big Red in Big D 007 on November 6, 2009 7:36AM CST
In light of whats happening at fort hood, let's keep our troops in our prayers.
Thanks to all for the help getting those troops to the Baylor game last weekend. The tailgate party was a huge success. Although I was unable to attend (Golf Tourneys come first) I have been told there were nearly 1000 husker fans attending. Special thanks to TO, Governor Heineman and Matt Davidson for attending. Not many fan bases could accomplish that at an away game.
Go Big Red and thanks again!

Posted by: Snow Bunny on November 6, 2009 7:43AM CST
Big Red, all troops are in my prayers.

It was great to see all of the Husker fans at the Baylor game. Our fans get a little pissy but when it's all said & done they're still loyal & will travel to support the team. I went to the NU/KSU game in Manhattan last year (first time for me) & there were so many Husker fans. Same thing for the NU/KU games. Of course the last couple of games in Lawrence there have been more blue in the stadium but prior to those seasons, majority of the people in the stands were clad in red. I just love our fans!

Posted by: Snow Bunny on November 6, 2009 7:51AM CST
Speaking of KSU & KU, who do we want winning that game? I'm assuming KU.

I have been listening to the local sports radio station here in KC & they have all been giving Mangino a hard time after the OU game. I guess everyone is upset that he pulled Reesing from the game & that when asked about the losses they have had, he's blaming the players & not once taking ownership that the loss may be due to coaching as well. Sound familiar? Appears a lot of fingers are getting pointed instead of thumbs. LOL.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 6, 2009 8:08AM CST
Snow. Looking forward to meeting you. I am staying at the Days Inn accros the street from you. Makes me kinda nervous cause they had a ton of rooms left. Might be a dump.

Good morning PT. My BF & I always stay downtown when we come to Lincoln for the games but they were asking so much for rooms this weekend. Just can't bring myself to pay almost $1,000 for two nights in Lincoln. It's highway robbery.

We are like you, we hope our hotel isn't a dump.

When are you heading to Lincoln?

Posted by: blackshirt_retrievers on November 6, 2009 8:16AM CST
Corner of 8th and P. About a block or two from the tailgate party!

Posted by: Snow Bunny on November 6, 2009 8:19AM CST
Hey Blackshirt. Mike said hello. He would actually get on here & chat with you but it would take him about an hour to type a sentence. He is not the greatest typer, in fact he is down right awful at it & I don't have the patience to watch him. It's painful.

We're heading to Lincoln around noon today.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 6, 2009 8:21AM CST
I have stayed in that Holiday Inn Expresws before. It is OK. the had rooms but wanted more than the days Inn. But they have better Breakfasts.

I am coming in Saturday. Be in town about 1:30 or 2:00. Where do you park downtown? I know a nice garage at 15th and O but wuld like to find something closer if possibe.

Posted by: blackshirt_retrievers on November 6, 2009 8:24AM CST

Burlington Northern has a lot behind the post office on the west side of the tracks. I think it's 10-15 bucks or somewhere close. It's only like 2 blocks to brewsky's from that lot.

PT, If I were you I would park down by the Haymarket. Any time we have friends come meet us they park underneath the West O bypass. They have never had a problem finding a parking spot. The LJS parking lot is real close to Haymarket so it wouldn't be too far of a walk for you.

We are going to have our hotel call us a cab in the morning to take us downtown.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 6, 2009 8:33AM CST
I got a doulbe room at Days. for $115 plus tax. The wanted $155 at Holiday. Thanks for the info. that would be about the same as the garage on O st. coverd Parking. Same price and Only about 6 plocks from LJS. Thanks though. At least I have choices now.

Niether IH or Redinten can make it. Health reasons. Gofor2 won't be here either.

As far as Brewskys goes, I am gonna let GBRTEX call that one. He is driving in From Dallas on Friday night. He might want to catch a little shut eye before the game starts. I know I would after driving 650 miles He is leaving at midnight. Plumb nuts.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 6, 2009 9:06AM CST
Trash, I am here. You wanna go??? LOL.

Posted by: Trashman on November 6, 2009 9:07AM CST
PT
You can park at burlington northern and it's 10 bucks and a very short walk. Just make sure you drop your bags off first. You do have to move your vehcle within 3 hours from the game's end or it will be towed. Brewsky's it approximately at 8th and Q in the Haymarket and is a good time. Usually a radio station there with some chanting and what not.

Posted by: Trashman on November 6, 2009 9:10AM CST
Everyone makes fun of me since I've lived in Lincoln my whole life, but I've never been to "Sidetracks" bar. Heard it's the best place bar none. Met some Ohio St fans a few games back who were visiting family and they said they had never had such a good time. My friends who go time to time say it's great. But it's probably a younger crowd and DBP told me you are old.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 6, 2009 9:12AM CST
Trash, do I get there from the Haymarket side or is it west of the tracks.

Posted by: Snow Bunny on November 6, 2009 9:14AM CST
PT, that's too bad about Islander, Redinten & Gofor. I was really looking forward to meeting them. You mentioned health reasons when referring to Islander. Is he ok?

Good to hear that GBR in Texas is making it. That is a very long drive. Is he staying at the same hotel that you are?

blackshirt, have you ordered your KU/NU tickets?

Posted by: Trashman on November 6, 2009 9:20AM CST
For Burlington Northern I'm assuming you mean. I don't know what direction your coming from, but on West O, you come into town, hang a right on 9th, another right on N St, and it will take you right down to some people directing you. If from the north on 9th St, go straight to N st, hang a right. Probably won't be a line if you're early enough, but there's a lot of parking.

Best of luck tomorrow.

blackshirt, I'm searching for NU/KU tickets right now trying to find seating in the Husker section. Prices are king of high right now. Guess I'll wait until after the weekend to see if the prices go down some, like you mentioned. Yep, we'll defiantly hook up for some tailgating.

Yeah if they are too expensive I'll sit at a bar downtown and raise hell lol!!!

Blackshirt, I was trying to get Hooked on Huskers to fly into KC so she can go to the KU game but guess she won't be able to make it. She went to the Iowa State/NU game instead. Too bad it was an ugly game.

KU has a ton of tickets for sale, but at $90 each (plus $3 processing fee), the best bet is buying them off of their fans as they hop off the bandwagon.

Snow
I should be at least making an appearance for awhile. Gonna be kinda migrating with my wife and a few others. I may "inadvertently" lose the group for an hour or so.

Not bad, my ex actually moved back to the Seattle area last moth so now my girls close.

Now just need construction and remodels to pick up a head of steam.

Our "handles" huh? Drive a big rig for awhile Snow? I told people on here my avatar was my senior picture. Several people told me I looked like Jim Carrey. I just don't see it.

Outside the box. KU fans are already jumping off that bandwagon. There's a guy at work who is a season ticket holder & he said that if KU doesn't win this game, he might sell his tickets to me. I just don't understand that mentality. Yes, a loss sucks but I'll never get off that Husker wagon. Ever!

Rluben, that's good to hear that your girl is close to you. Hopefully real estate will be picking up soon for you.

Trashman, nope no big rigs. LOL. Actually my handle was suppose to be my password when I initially signed up on the blog. However, I screwed up. I remember when my first post appeared & it showed "snow bunny" I remember thinking, great this handle will go over well on a football blog that is predominatly male. LOL. My handle was suppose to have a reference to the blackshirts. Yep, screwed that one up & there was no turning back. So now, I'm snow bunny. :)
