Three nuggets from Ganz
Posted by: Steve Sipple on March 18, 2010 at 8:31AM CST

Ex-Husker quarterback Joe Ganz, now an intern on Bo Pelini's staff (working under offensive coordinator Shawn Watson), made an appearance Wednesday on 1620 AM's "Unsportsmanlike Conduct." Good stuff as usual. Talked a lot about the anticipated quarterback competition in spring ball. Three nuggets stood out:

1. Ganz keeps close tabs on Cody Green -- even at the training table. If Ganz sees Green sitting with a female student-athlete at a meal, Green has to do 100 "pencil rolls." Pencils rolls are awful. A player lays on the ground, arms stretched over his head, and rolls down the field. Vomiting usually is part of the fun (sorry if you're eating breakfast). At any rate, Ganz's training-table edict for Green is generally good-natured fun, but also is meant to encourage Green to continually strengthen his bond with teammates. Just my opinion: Coaches are preparing Green to be a prominent leader in the program. Of course, he has to take care of business on the field.

2. Here's how Ganz described Nebraska's offense entering spring ball (which begins Wednesday): "Transitioning to the spread with the ability to throw."

3. Lots of folks are curious about redshirted freshman Taylor Martinez. Ganz said Nebraska wants to get him on the field. Maybe in a wildcat formation. Pehaps as a slot receiver. Make no mistake, Martinez will get a chance to win the starting quarterback job. Watson told me a few weeks ago that the coaches have no question about Martinez's running ability; the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder just has to show he can handle the passing game. To that end, Ganz indicated coaches are tweaking Martinez's delivery. Stay tuned.

Maybe the best known Coach on the Staff. Not bad for an intern.

Wrestler You dog. Congrats on your #1.

NCAA national wrestling finals kick off soon at the Qwest center in Omaha.

But you probably knew that.

Joe G. will be a good addition to the development of all the QB's, as the offense will revamp for next season this I feel positive about?

Sometimes it's interesting what they don't say. Did Joe G have any comments on Zac Lee?

Posted by: Wrestler on March 18, 2010 8:56AM CST
Yes I did know? I always am careful, as I can get carried away in that sport, and this of course, is a FB blog?

Yes just walked in from workout with FU and lo and behold am able to get 1st over all the others and yourself of course?

It is heading towards 10 pm Thursday evening here in HK?

I need to go take a shower and sleep for awhile and then up for lesson plans tomorrow?

I think interesting game in NCAA's for pumpkin warts, your Thurs. will be the UT and Wake game? I think if UT could come out of their funk and play more like beginning of season, well they could be a difficult opponent maybe for UK in 2nd round? But if like of late not too difficult for anyone, and probably will get beat by Wake?

GBR! Zhou Da Hong! GB12! Zhou Da Shier!

UTEP over Butler too, is my thinking?

So, I will pick UT, to play lights out for a couple of games, and surprise the Big Blue of UK?

GF/KW is in bed already so that I would warmup the blog with Spring coming and her at the beach?

Later showertime where I do my best singing? She is going to work on your Husker History lesson this weekend she told me?

Bumarooskie,

That's a great question. Don't read too much into that. Joe didn't mention Zac mostly because he wasn't asked about Zac. Bo told me Sunday that Zac, even though he'll be held out during spring, will have a chance to win the job come August. Nobody is going to win any jobs in the spring, Bo said.

Posted by: Bumarooskie on March 18, 2010 9:14AM CST
Thanks Sip. Just a little curiosity. I'd imagine Zac will be there observing Spring Practice and soaking up what the coaches are teaching. Then things will sort themselves out this fall.

PT/GI Does anybody know what happened or where we stand with Kenny Mack? I know he went juco, but is he still on our radar or are we still on his?

Posted by: PT Husker on March 18, 2010 9:32AM CST
Who is kenny Mack? Which would indicate that i don't know anything about him. :)

Posted by: PT Husker on March 18, 2010 9:34AM CST
speaking of potential recruits, What is the status on Young Andrew Green? We have already gotten a few commits from his class and the early word was he was Chalk.

Any recruitniks out there.

Posted by: PT Husker on March 18, 2010 9:35AM CST
Guess his name is Aaron. Andrews little bro.

Posted by: Fitzy on March 18, 2010 9:36AM CST
Nobody may "win" a job in spring, but I am certain that several individuals can make serious moves towards "winning" a job if they have a strong showing. The beauty of this staff is that we can trust them to not play favorites and actually play the best man for the job... based on performance, not promises made during the recruiting process... Cody Green, Taylor Martinez, etal will all be on the field and getting better with more reps, while Zac has to stand by and watch it happen. That may prove to be a good thing for the depth as we roll into and through next season. There will be several guys looking to earn time at the QB spot and I would fully expect that at least 3 Qb's will see significant snaps throughout the season... There will likely be times where we see 2 or maybe even 3 of those Qb's on the field at the same time. Cody and Taylor are good enough to line up at the WR or slot positions... that could cause a mess for defenses trying to figure out what might be going on there. I cannot wait to see how this thing goes.

Posted by: TheRightAnswer on March 18, 2010 9:37AM CST
He was the big D tackle out of Nevada. Never mind then. He must be off our radar.

Posted by: PT Husker on March 18, 2010 9:59AM CST
Right. Not necessarily. I am not a big follower of the recruiting process so don't rely on what I know or don't know about recruiting.

Ex. Can you answer the question about Kenny Mack?

Posted by: Trashman on March 18, 2010 10:42AM CST
I like Bumarooskie's take, and Sip's reply makes sense. Why respond if not asked?

However, if Zac Lee did such a great job as DBP says (leading us to 10 wins and without him we were gonna be at 4....that our defense and special teams lost some of the games in crunch time), why is the starting QB position even up for grabs?

To me, when fall comes, Green will be looked at as the starting QB until Lee proves he can beat HIM out. Not vice versa. It's Green's job to lose people.

Posted by: PT Husker on March 18, 2010 10:51AM CST
Trash. You were looking for me the other day. I did send you a message.

And I have my doubts that the coaching staff shares your thoughts.

Lee has earned their trust. Green has a chance to do that this spring. I just hope that, as they say, it is an open competition.

Posted by: charger on March 18, 2010 10:52AM CST
Trash,
having said that where does martinez fit in? fitzy seems to think that there could be 3 qb's on the field. i don't see this staff doing that, but i could be wrong, cause they have ran the wild corn :>)

Posted by: Mentally Red on March 18, 2010 10:54AM CST
So...Cody likes the ladies...maybe a little too much?

Posted by: Trashman on March 18, 2010 11:00AM CST
Charger

I think Martinez will have about a 10-15 play window to use him with at the beginning of the year. It will grow as the season progresses. Definitely just for a little spread attack if Lee ends up the starter.

If Green, I would say Taylor gets redshirted due to the depth @ QB (if he's staying there) and the staff would feel comfortable. Of course they would have to feel comfortable at the WR postion as well.....

Posted by: PT Husker on March 18, 2010 11:02AM CST
Lets see. If I was gonna eat lunch with D kelley or R Henery. Tough Choice. Henery will keep me alive on Saturday afternoon. Kelley, well who knows?

Martinez has already had his Redshirt year. Last year.

Posted by: Trashman on March 18, 2010 11:05AM CST
PT

I don't know about the "staff's thoughts". I'm currently lacking my little inside knowledge I used to get.

And here's my other question that I proposed 6 months ago: What does everyone see in Lee that makes you feel like he should be the starting QB at NU?

Quite honestly, at the time, I got very little response. One poster (I can't remember for sure) said they thought he was a good leader, and TommyOC told me he thought he had the "it" factor. No one could tell me anything that had to do with his play on the field (for obvious reasons).

Now we give reason after reason as to why he and the offense were so bad with the OL, WR, Watson, Lee's injury, etc, etc....and I don't care about any of it.

There's always poor offensive lines, WR's running bad routes, hurt players on offense all over the country on top teams.

It's what the man getting snapped the ball does with it regardless of the cards dealt. Gotta be a playmaker at that position and the coaches know it. Especially with this type of offense they are morphing into.

Trust me, they are praying Green understands the offense at even a small comfort level which will be the case. And that, my friends will be good enough. Because we all saw what Lee brought after nearly 2 years within the program.

PT

Forgot the Martinez redshirt thing. They'll get him on the field in a small capacity regardless.

Posted by: huskersincedevaney on March 18, 2010 11:16AM CST
"Transitioning to the spread with the ability to throw" is key here when we talk about the QB that is going to be starting this fall. Even though Zac most likely will not participate in spring camp, with a healthy throwing arm, he is still going to be hard to beat out of the starting spot. I think with a healthy arm, he is a really good passer and his decision making was pretty good for the most part last year is spite of it being his first year as a starter. Cody is going to be a great QB but he is going to have to make huge strides this spring in passing and decision making to beat Zac out this fall for the starting spot. I kind of compare Cody to Vince Young. Big guys who can see the field and who can really run well but who have trouble with the passing part of the game. Coach Brown said they were having a terrible time with Vince in the passing game until they finally quit coaching him on how to throw the ball and let him do it his way. After that, he turned out to be an awesome QB for Texas as we all well know. Maybe I am wrong but I think Cody and Vince Young are an awful lot alike.

Posted by: RonJe on March 18, 2010 11:18AM CST
It would seem that going into the Holiday Bowl we had a starting QB. The QB not only played very well but displayed some traits not exhibited prior to that. Not that we don't exhibit some talent at the position, but up until now I have not seen anyone do anything to change that positioning. At the same time come the beginning of spring practice all positions are open. Perhaps, it is a bit premature to predict younger, more inexperience personeal to replace current or former starters.

Posted by: PT Husker on March 18, 2010 11:19AM CST
Trash, No questiuon about the Physical skills. Green is the superior Pyhsical athlete. And Frankly Martinez may be better than both of them.

It is the between the ear thing that is holding Cody back at this time. Way last fall I said that although it is Lee's job to lose he could be #3 by fall. Of course I was putting Spano in the mix not Martinez.

Again, it is good to know we have some options. That was not the case last year.

BTW, I hope you get your Open thingie pulled off.

"I think with a healthy arm, he is a really good passer and his decision making was pretty good for the most part last year is spite of it being his first year as a starter."

I have not heard when his arm was officially "injured", but here's Lee's numbers vs Big-time Competition Schools (BCS):

Lee:

Rushing: 80-242 (3yds/carry) 1 TD, 5 fumbles (1 lost).

Passing: 107-198 (54% comp), 1186 yds, 6 TDs, 8 INTs

To me, these numbers outweigh anything about what people think/hope/pray he can do.

I do like the Green/Young comparison though. If Green gets to that level, NC's are comin.

See above stats which include the Holiday Bowl.

I do not think anything is ever premature....on this blog.

PT

I hope so too. I think the TX game would set up perfectly. We shall see.

Pro's

1. Holds the record for biggest comeback in school history (Quite a history if you ask me)

2. Played his best when his back was against the wall (including spring ball)

3. Had the faith of the coaches/teammates

Con's

1. Holds on the the ball too much waiting for a deep route to develop

2. Isn't the best 'running' QB on the team

3. Doesn't get 'squat' when taking a hit in said run.

Imo this creates the perfect storm for competition at QB. The encumbent is out, the hopefuls are eager to catch up. Lee will probably be watching a lot of film because he is out of physical drills (which will help with his cons). Green/Martinez/Spano will get more reps (which will help with thier con's) When Lee comes back to drills he will be hungry to show that he has improved his game, and the hopefuls will try to show that they have caught and perhaps surpassed Lee.

In this case only time will tell, so i personaly will not be 'chiming' in all spring about something that is up for grabs as it is idle speculation at best.

Oh, you'll bite on the speculation......it will be just too enticing for you among other things.

You might as well, just join my "Green" side and you'll save yourself any thinking! Just tryin to help out.....

Btw - 3 of Lee's fumbles were in the option game and credited to him when Helu was having a bad time keeping his eyes on the ball while looking for a hole.

2 of his interceptions were not played well by the WR and led to easry interceptions.. it isn't like any one of the ints were of the 'holiday bowl toss-up' type from Nick Foles.

Gotta get going fellas, maybe out for the day. I'll check back eventually...maybe before the night basketball games start up.

PT, gotta go hang with an ol' neighbor. Real old guy like yourself, but really missed now that he's on his acreage. Had every tool a guy could need with a shop. Now a guy like DBP lives in his old house......

Gonna sharpen mower blades, fix shovels, stare at the yard type of stuff for the afternoon.

Alright Insid.....or should we call you DBP??????

Only in fun man, I know that's a serious insult.....

I really like Cody Green and i think he is a great athlete but the more i look at him i cant help but think Joe Daley...I am really intruiged by Martinez...someone correct me if I'm wrong but i believe he was like the California gatorade player of the year or Wendy's heisman or something like that..thats not easy to do..I also think he is a natural winner and believes in himself too..but i believe for this coming year anyway all Lee has to do is not give it away...In my opinion they should just let Burkhead be full time QB ; )

Posted by: Insidious1 on March 18, 2010 11:44AM CST
Words... but where are the facts?

Posted by: MTHusker88 on March 18, 2010 11:48AM CST

The 'General Lee' ala DBP i am not, however he did admirable in the situation he was thrown into.

Posted by: Insidious1 on March 18, 2010 11:53AM CST
MTH,

I agree. Its almost like a grooming grounds for a lot of teams anymore. If they would stop getting cherry picked they would be in a class of thier own, well... in the class that they are in.

Posted by: MTHusker88 on March 18, 2010 11:54AM CST
Taylor Martinez Senior Season state-61.0 Completion% 3,019 Yards 28 TD's 7 INT's...he ran for 750 too and 12 TD's....also led his team to a 15-0 ranking and a state championship and the his highschool finished No. 2 nationally in the USA Today's final prep rankings ...o and he runs a 4.47

Posted by: bigred-Ore on March 18, 2010 12:06PM CST
It does bear mentioning to all the Lee detractors that he was essentially as much of a first year starter as CG was. He spent his first year here rehabbing an injury as a redshirt and his second year as the third string QB behind Joey and Witt. He did not get any meaningful mention until last year's spring. Third stringers don't even get many practice reps and Joey seldom if ever came out of games.

I still maintain that Wats wants a "game manager", not a "game changer" at QB. If he could clone Joey G over and over I think he would do it in a heartbeat.

As PT said this is all about the between the ears stuff.
I also agree that I don't care who is there.
JUST WIN BABY

Posted by: MTHusker88 on March 18, 2010 12:09PM CST
Martinez is perfect for us...he can throw the ball when needed can absolutely run it at will....i like to look at stats a bit when thinking about QB's but at the college level the most important thing is getting a kid who knows how to win...Martinez is that guy

Posted by: rluben on March 18, 2010 12:18PM CST
Martinez had or has a funky, awkward throwing motion, 3 times as funky as Cody's. That's something that stood out to me on film back when he was being recruited. But he got the ball there...just not with smoothness, authority, precision or with no wasted motion.

But the dude has some serious quick feet, speed and agility and ability to see the field on the move.

I Like what he brings to the equation and think he will see the some playing time for sure.

Cody has a little hitch in the motion, but has a rocket and good wheels and lots of other great qualities, he was raw and young last year and I'm not so sure was quite ready for Nearly 90K screaming fans and was still learning the playbook and the intricacies of the passing game.

I still believe Cody will be the starter if not in the beginning of the season, then by the 3rd - 4th game.

Lee will be a great backup, one of the best in the conference.

I like Martinez at the slot sometimes...if I had my way, and I'd run some option with him there as the pitchman and then also use him as the QB in the wildcat at times and run all kinds of fun stuff out of it with the ball in his hands.

Could interchange Rex, Cody and Martinez at all three...slot, running back and the QB in the Wildcat.

Teams wouldn't have a clue what the heck was going on or how to stop it and as soon as they thought they might, throw some traditional I at them or the spread or proset or w/e.

With the talent we have at TE and Receiver, there's no reason not to throw up at least 30 points a game this year easily.

WooHooo only a few more days before some pads are popping.

Posted by: rluben on March 18, 2010 12:30PM CST
And I would 100% for sure most definitely Run the two lead backs leading the QB through the hole off center guard play at least 10 times a game with the ball in Martinez's hands.

There's at least 30 different ways to run that play and have 2 lead backs for the QB.

No pitch to fumble, no fakes to make, just eyes forward looking for the slightest of openings with the ball in the hands of a quick playmaker...Frazier loved that play.

You can run it with any backfield set, the QB under center or in shotgun, any receiver formation, the slot can even be one of the lead backs if he can block or get in someone's way.

K Watts, your welcome, use it like you did my other plays last year.

Your welcome again.

And yep, you can fake handoffs too, to change it up and give the D differnet looks and also run play actions off it from almost any of the looks.

Posted by: huskersincedevaney on March 18, 2010 12:38PM CST
C'mon trash,

You never heard when Zac's arm was officially injured? You didn't hear about the the torn tendon in his elbow on his throwing arm that he played with most of the season? That tear developed after he injured his wrist in the Arkansas State game. He just recently had surgery on it which is why he isn't competing in spring ball.

You quoted his passing stat's as a 1st year starter with, YES, an injured arm. Did you take a look at Cody's in the games he started? I will stand by my statement that Cody is going to have to make big strides in the passing game and decision making in the spring while Zac is on the sidelines to win the starting job come fall.

Posted by: Fitzy on March 18, 2010 12:40PM CST
I did not mean we would see 3 Qb's on the field at the same time "regularly"... I was thinking a few times per game to throw some confusion in to the mix. I just don't want to see the offense going in so many different dirrections that they cannot excel at any of those directions. The O-Line will be the biggest factor on weather or not this next years offense takes steps forward, steps back or stays about the same, not just the QB that gets to start. Without a well oiled line that can block those who need blocked, no one does real well...

Posted by: Silicon Valley Husker on March 18, 2010 12:47PM CST
Sorry I missed Trash.....this won't be an original thought at this point (why start having orignal points...aren't blogs all about repeating the same thing over and over?) but Lee is the lead dog based on his experience last year..some good, some bad, but an excellent bowl performance. Green and Martinez need to demonstrate separation or the experience edge goes to Zac.

I don't think that edge is large and the right maturation could push Green over the edge.

RL, I haven't seen video, but my brother tells me that Martinez' throwing motion is incredibly painful to watch...that he makes Keller look smooth. Am curious to see his running as it obviously has lots of fans.

Sip....is there any discussion about televising the spring scrimmage? Are they waiting for sellout or near sellout to negotiate a deal or is it not in the cards?

Do you think Ganz would make a good OC? After this year, the job might be available if the QB situation is another mess and the offense is another non-factor. There is not yet any indication that anything has changed.

But let's think positive. Lee and Green should both be better than last year, but how much better? If not much better, things on offense will continue to sputter along. It would be a stretch to expect Martinez to even learn the playbook, let alone try to execute it. But, Spano might be able to do it.

I say again that Spring Practice has never been a good indicator of what to expect during the conference season, as we learned again from last year. A weak non-conference schedule just fuels the false optimism of the koolaid drinkers. Washington will be the only real test before the Big 12.

Ray, very few coaches would leap from coaching video intern to Offensive Coordinator in a single year.

The internal candidate everyone mentions to replace Wats if he goes for a Head Coach position somewhere (in my mind, I like to imagine that is why he would leave--so much success here...not the alternative) is Tim Beck.

I prefer the external candidate Scott "Expert in Chip Kelly's Run-Heavy Spread" Frost.

didnt even think about that! yup im sold get watson outta there scott frost come back home ; )

Is Oregon still competing in the Pac10 this year, or are they fully switched into the California Penal League?

T.O. knows more about the Run heavy spread Attack than Chip Kelly or Scott Frost will even probably know... he practically invented it with Frazier and then Frost.

But he didn't even install 1/100th of what he had in his head
to get around too eventually.

IMO for what it's worth is how will williams, henry, and smith respond to the pressure the young guys are going to put on them for starting time. Before everyone jumps on Yoshi's bandwagon it's going to take him atleast 4 or more games to get the D1 speed & the offence down. Now i didn't say he wasn't going to get a chance to start.

Last I looked there were about 90 tickets for sale on stub hub.

My buddy Al said he was going to take care of getting our tickets so I haven't paid much attention.

Tell me how I can help and I'll do my best.

Really? You thought he played "very well?" 13-23 passing, 170+ yards, and 65 yards rushing is "very well?" I guess for Lee it is, but not for most programs, and certainly not for one that aspires to be in the top 10.

And if we're going to a spread-with-the-ability-to-pass, that obviously favors running qb's, and Lee will, eventually, take a backup role.

u don't have tickets for the spring game?

Posted by: Exiled_in_VT on March 18, 2010 2:31PM CST
I am just hoping beyond hope I can find decent tickets for around $100...thought maybe you might know some little old ladies looking to sell tickets that don't know how to use eBay or StubHub to see how much they're worth...

Posted by: rluben on March 18, 2010 2:31PM CST
Exiled I'd try your luck with an add on craiglist in Seattle possibly.

But here's my post about Tickets for you earlier in the month.

I think I saw general admission tickets on stubhub for around $65 bucks.

~~~~~
You might check with their ticket office exiled, or check on stubhub to Purchase Nebraska at Washington Football Tickets.
Posted by: rluben on March 18, 2010 2:34PM CST
Lol Charger nope, we were talking about tickets to Nebraska vs. Washington here in Seattle.
I won't make it back for the spring game. wish i was.
Posted by: rluben on March 18, 2010 2:40PM CST
Ahh nope, All the U-Dubb fans I know will be using there tickets for that game.
I only know a few Husky fans, most my friends are Cougar fans.
I'm in the same boat you are Exiled 'cept I only have a 20-30min drive to get to the stadium.
But if you want I'll go wear a cardboard suit sign saying something like "Exiled Husker fan needs Husky Husker's Tickets...I will not beat yo AZZ if you cough them up for him right now"
Posted by: rluben on March 18, 2010 2:41PM CST
their not there...huh where.
Posted by: BenAr2 on March 18, 2010 2:41PM CST
Actually, now that I think about it, if we are going with primarily a running attack, Lee may be the starter. I seem to remember game after game, week after week, Watson dialing up zone-reads and options with Lee as the qb. Even though there was consistenly minimal success, he kept doing it game after game after game. SO, Watson seems to think that Lee is a good quarterback for the spread system, and maybe we get to look forward to another season of using our players as ineffectively as possible . . . can't wait.
Posted by: Exiled_in_VT on March 18, 2010 2:42PM CST
lube,
I think I'd be best off buying Washington season tickets and trying to sell off the other games (even below face value, if necessary).
It's just a chunk of change to plunk down right now...
Posted by: rluben on March 18, 2010 2:45PM CST
Look on stubhub, was 92 tickets to the game on there the last I looked.
from around $65 to a high of $165 I think it was.
I'll look again.
Posted by: Exiled_in_VT on March 18, 2010 2:47PM CST
All the tickets under $150 are general admission bleacher.
Posted by: festusmonroe on March 18, 2010 2:48PM CST
"I still maintain that Wats wants a "game manager", not a "game changer" at QB. If he could clone Joey G over and over I think he would do it in a heartbeat."
I disagree. Sure, he wanted a game manager last season, because a game manager would've been an upgrade from the mediocrity they had.
Nebraska hasn't had a game changer at QB in almost a decade. Watson would do a backflip if he had one.
Posted by: rluben on March 18, 2010 2:56PM CST
ok, guess General are now starting at $97 but that aint too bad.
Really not a bad seat in Husky Stadium.
Those tickets listed for $148 in upper deck don't look bad.
Can see Lake WA and some scenery up there.
Exiled...I don't care how it looks either...watched the link and Tebow would appear to have a much stronger arm. I guess what I wonder is how has Martinez done in practice against the 1st team defense throwing the ball? He had a lot of chance to do that last year. Sure he was running different offenses each week but I wonder how his decision making was and whether he can "make all of the throws"
Posted by: Exiled_in_VT on March 18, 2010 2:59PM CST
Season tickets are only $375...
5 other games--Syracuse, OSU, ASU, Stanford, UCLA...
Even if you sold those for $40 apiece, you'd be down to $175 for the Husker game.
Posted by: Exiled_in_VT on March 18, 2010 3:00PM CST
SVH,
From what I've read/heard, Ron Kellogg, Jr. did most of the scout team QB passing. Martinez mainly was a slot back for the scout team.
Posted by: rluben on March 18, 2010 3:01PM CST
That endzone bleacher Seating might be fun especially when the Skers are down on that end scoring.
And those are the cheap $97 -155 tickets.
75 available and can be purchased in packages of up to 18 together.
Hmmmm.......
Posted by: rluben on March 18, 2010 3:02PM CST
Oh, well that aint bad Exiled.
Crap donate the rest to a local kids group and write it off.
Trashman-
I will henceforth refer to you as "The Prophet".
Maybe you should apply for a graduate assistant job at NU...
you are the greatest thing to happen to Nebraska football since Gerry Gdowski
Trashman, "The Prophet"? Well if that beats all? Here's a political ticket to sink your teeth into, Trash and Rluben? What would life be like in America? Or Rluben and Trash?
Following latest events, in NCAA's men's pumpkin warts, my gut says Big 12, will show up well, and maybe is the much greater conference, in the sport this year to Big East conference?
So remember, my final four picks? KU and KState and Baylor and W.Va. KU winning it all?
GBR! Zhou Da Hong! GB12! Zhou Da Shier!
I don't think Ganz is talking about a no girls policy. He is talking about sitting down with female athletes at meal table. He should be bonding with his teammates at meal time and not the female athletes. And I agree with that.
Ganz saying that we are transitioning to the spread is old news. Bo, Watson and others have been saying that since the Holiday Bowl.
Martinez is an athlete and may be the best athlete on the team. You play him where he can help the team most. Maybe like a Bobby Newcombe, who could catch the ball real well, run back punts, and oh he could play a little QB as well.
Posted by: TommyOC on March 18, 2010 6:35PM CST
I wouldn't under estimate Lee. He's a tough kid and if the surgery is successful, might just be better then expected. He took a lot of crap last year, but they won 10 games despite sucking on offense. Green hasn't shown his potential yet, but if they want to run it, I'd have to say he's gonna be favored to be the guy doing it. I like the depth all three bring, and who knows, maybe Spano will even be a contributor. Can never have enough talent pushing for the starting jobs...
It's gonna be a good year!
Posted by: GBR in Texas on March 18, 2010 6:36PM CST
Nothing was said that should come as a surprise, except maybe the vomiting part. We are talking about comments made prior to the start of spring football practice. No big deal, probably shouldn't read much into it.
TOC, did you fill out a bracket(s)? Mine's all jacked up already and it's not even dark yet on day 1.
Exiled: I watched the Martinez clip and I was impressed.Yes he has a strange throwing motion but it looked like to me he was time on target.Speed wise I think he is faser than Green.Need to get him some snaps and experience.GBR
Howdy GBR.
Howdy br1. I was actually over on the 'T-Mo' thread answering your question.
Posted by: GBR in Texas on March 18, 2010 7:07PM CST
Oh boy...Frankie's Ohio roundballers are beating G'town 41-28 with 3 minutes left in the first half. My bracket is experiencing major suffrage.
Posted by: Ray in Bellevue on March 18, 2010 7:08PM CST
Exiled_in_VT . I know that Ganz would have little chance at any Div 1 coaching job going straight from an internship, let alone the OC position at Nebraska, who would be selected from nation-wide candidates. I was just funning a little. But, I am pretty stupid, so just keep double-checking my comments. Thanks!
Posted by: GBR in Texas on March 18, 2010 7:11PM CST
Not a big fan of the 'tweaking' of the throwing motion. For any kind of 'tweak' to take hold he will need to throw thousands of balls before fall. Even then most have a tendency to revert back to the comfort zone when under pressure. Which is why I laugh when there is talk of Tebow being 'new and improved' after his tweaking going into the combine.
Ohio boys up on G'town 48-36 at the half. Those Hoyas better get it in gear.
Posted by: big red 1 on March 18, 2010 7:19PM CST
GBR: Read the t-mo thread. Sound to me like they don't have much to say from the whoopin they are about to receive.
I'm going back br1.
At 92.4% in bracket. Not to bad for my first time.
If the wHorns stay true to form the arrogance factor may do them in early in that game. Confidence is one thing, blatent arrogance is something completely different. The arrogant act of flying the banner over the stadium in Stillwater prior to the Bedlam game two years ago is what cost them with the voters imo. No one can convince me otherwise.
