Suh a Lott semifinalist
Posted by: Brian Christopherson on November 11, 2009 at 3:21PM CST
More Suh.

Yesterday Ndamukong Suh was named a finalist for the Lombardi. Today he's been named a semifinalist for another defensive award -- the Lott Trophy.

He's one of eight names on the list. The others are Tennessee safety Eric Berry, USC safety Taylor Mays, Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, Alabama linebacker Rolando McClain, Texas defensive end Sam Acho, TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes and South Carolina defensive end Eric Norwood.

Bo Pelini, Tom Osborne and Don James have quotes about Suh in the Lott press release.

Here's what Osborne said: "Ndamukong Suh has been as dominant a defensive lineman as I have observed in college football this year. He pursues sideline to sideline, is a great pass rusher, and makes it almost impossible for anyone to run the ball effectively through the middle of our line. He has exceptional speed, athleticism, power, and tenacity, as well as being a very intelligent football player."

BC, did the team do anything for Tyrone Fahie today on Veterans' Day?

Posted by: Brian Christopherson on November 11, 2009 3:28PM CST
Good question Exiled. I'll have to ask. I'm sure Suh will get his name up there in years to come, especially if he wins that Lombardi.

Has Fahie even had playing time this year? I completely forgot about him.

Fahie is in the VaTech,Mizzou, and Baylor game stats under player participation.

He is not in the season stat sheet.

Hello, got a message that site is down for maintainence. I am hoping it is now done.

Hope the Huskers did something to honor Fahie. Here in Grand Island that really made an effort to honor Veterans today. I went to HYVEE to a free breakfast for all Veterans. They really went overbackwards, with a live radio broadcast, a choir singing patriotic songs and staff could not have been more gracious and helpful. Where ever we went today people were paying their respects. Plus, a local car wash was giving free car washes to Veterans, and we took advantage of that. Our largest High School had their annual parade to the Veterans home, with about 2000 students taking part.

You know if they didn't add the disclaimer "Only those candidates with a legitimate chance of winning the Heisman Trophy in the view of ESPN and Nissan will be added to the leaderboard." I'm pretty sure Stephen Colbert would win the Nissan Heisman vote.

Saw some comments about Fahie. I did write a story about him a year ago or so. Here's the link: http://www.journalstar.com/sports/football/college/article_f1cd19c5-3926-5eb4-9a16-a9f2175fabac.html

I was absolutely disgusted by that other blog. I haven't seen such a huge number of Callahan lovers in my life! Going on and on about all stars and prototypical sizes. Was Johnny Rodgers 6-4 220? Did he just not make plays cause he was small?

How many players in our history were lightly recruited but given scholarships and proved that they were good? But should we ignore them now because some "expert" who has to research 100,000 kids out there doesn't give them 4 or 5*? It's a good thing I just got over my illness or that woud have finished me off.

Islander, I made an earleir post honoring you today. Thanks for serving your country. Let us never forget what those brave men and women have given.

youth of NE, hope you are feeling better today. 5*s are fine but after Perilloux at LSU and his getting thrown off the team, I'm kinda like rluben, give me a dog with a lot of fight in him. One that is hungry.

When Alex Henery made "the kick" I don't remember seeing any 4 or 5* crowns on his head. Just hope we can get some "burners" for offense. Go Big Red Geaux LSU

Yeah, I'm feeling ok. Had a 102 fever last couple of days.

I agree absolutely on the fight thing. Look at Marlon Lucky. Then look at Joe Ganz. Which had more impact on our team last year?

Matt Slauson dodn't have any stars. Didn't stop him from getting drafted by the Jets, did it?

Posted by: Busiekcreek on November 11, 2009 5:52PM CST
Well, I gotta go make groceries unless we want to eat "air puddin" and "rainbow stew" as Hag says.
Go Big Red

Lots of individual award possibilties. Team not so much. Oh yes, the sunbelt championship.

Kansas needs a breakout game. So does the corn offense.

corn favored by 3

sheesh

How do you assess the game? Corn by 10-14?

Posted by: drivebyposter on November 11, 2009 7:25PM CST
