Ready for fall camp?
Posted by: Brian Christopherson on July 30, 2010 at 2:49PM CST
We're eight days from the beginning of fall camp for the Huskers.Did you do your sit ups? You ready?

On Friday, the tentative schedule for the camp was released to the media.

Fan Day is scheduled for 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Aug. 7, the day of the first practice. Six to ten players will do interviews with the media around the noon hour before the practice from 3:45 to 6.

The first two-a-day practice is set for Friday, Aug. 13. There are four two-a-days scheduled, with the last one slated for Aug. 20.

The Huskers will have most Sundays off except for the one on Aug. 8, when they're scheduled to practice from 3:45 to 6.

As has been Bo Pelini's policy since his arrival, players who have not yet seen action in a game are not available for interviews during fall camp.

Nebraska's will begin its in-season practice on Monday, Aug. 30, the week prior to the Sept. 4 opener against Western Kentucky.

Finally, football season. The reason for breathing is soon again about to be realized.

Are they going to let the media view practice?

Posted by: rollbigredroll on July 30, 2010 3:06PM CST
Criminy- bring it already!

This is the most anticipated season since, well...last year.

I just want to beat Texas this year and win the Big 12. I'll take 4 losses if we have to- just get to the Big 12 and win it! Let's go out thumping these guys!

...and some hot cheerleaders this year would also be nice. I'm just sayin'....

Are Ricky Henry and Yoshi Hardrick completely recovered? How deep are they in the playbook? Who are the standouts from the summer conditioning program? How are our running backs looking?

Yes, I'm ready for fall camp.

That's just Coachin' Bo. Angry Bo cracked the camera lens.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on July 30, 2010 5:04PM CST
Oh yeah, just 8 days away. PT - Execution is everything. 11 guys have to play their part. Do that and we will have a very season.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on July 30, 2010 5:06PM CST
It will be interesting to see what Freshman will show up and who will not.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on July 30, 2010 5:07PM CST
That should be very good season.

You don't want to see angry Bo.

Islander

Sorry to hear you're lonely...but you're not by yourself, lots of lurkers. Question do you mean show up to fall camp or what Freshmen show up as playmakers this year?

Posted by: Islander/Husker on July 30, 2010 5:11PM CST
I think offensively we will be more physical. We finally have dept on the OL. I am not sure of Caputo will end up the #1 Center. Last year they did not use him to relieve Hickman much and Hickman was really banged up. Which tells you Caputo was a distant #2.

Posted by: CBHusker on July 30, 2010 5:12PM CST
One game at a time.
Anyone can win on a given Saturday.
Take what they give us.
We have admiration for each team we play....

Yea, right.
Lets hope they just kick a** on the way out the door and win the BCS championship game.

Dream big if our guys have what it takes. I think this years' team does.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on July 30, 2010 5:14PM CST
Yeah, I meant who will show up for camp. To me, to early to predict what Freshman will be playmakers.

Posted by: RU4NU2 on July 30, 2010 5:16PM CST
If Dr. Bruce Banner turns into the incredible hulk when he gets mad. And the incredible hulk turns into Chuck Norris when he gets mad. I bet Chuck Norris turns into Bo Pelini when he gets mad.

drive by))) When I was in Peru.... I got to thinkin... you know... about how close I was to the Equator. As a botanist... I noticed how big and beautiful all the plants were. So... I decided I would look into buying some land down there for when the medicine is made legal.

So I call some pal-o-mines in Kenya and they told me I would have to outbid..... MARLBORO! He said that within the last 5 years... Phillip Morris has purchased 50-75 2,000 acre patches... so that they can grow the medicine themselves.... when the time comes.

They constantly tell us to get over it!!! HMMMMM Kind of like how you got over the 3 way tie breaker in '08? Seems like it is only whining and crying when someone else is doing it. So yesterday this dang dog gets delivered to the house. A two year old blue healer and hound dog mix. Thought of you right away.

So this mutt reminds you of me but looks like Nish? C & C that one.

DPB. He/she will need a lot of exercise. How is your frizzbee throwing?

Posted by: NishBigRed on July 30, 2010 9:43PM CST
My Australian/Border Collie loves the tennis ball. Several year back I got where I couldn’t throw the ball far enough the spiral was gone.
Purchased a ball launder best investment. I can launch a tennis ball half way across the park.
Only bad thing is that my dog loved chasing the ball so much he blew out his cruciate ligament on his right hind leg. Vet wanted to cut it open but stated he probably would never run again.
We rehabbed him ourselves, got him back to chasing the ball again and he blew the other one out, so now he is retired. (doesn’t chase the ball anymore).

GF put him on some herbs, anti-inflammatory that we mix I his food, he moves better than he has in 3 years.
He will be 13 come Sept.

Trash the "little yipper shi-poo, moo, mal-shi, shi-york, shi-eesh-tha" is probably perfect for you. Personality fit.

Nish so stepn is not?

Stepn,
is at time, then he gets excited, like whenever the Husker score a TD, and it goes all to hell.

There were times last year when not a lot of TDs were scored so the problems wasn't as prevalent

We won't even discuss the Holiday Bowl.

Posted by: ancient1 on July 30, 2010 10:31PM CST
Somewhere in the vague recesses of my aging mind I recall a statement being made that the Huskers would now be able to have two practice stations. They hadn't been able to do this. True or no, anyone? If true IMO very important for the development of depth.

Personality dog-fit? Hey, I'm wiry, not kickable.

Well maybe to rluben or wrestle. But at least my hip or back wouldn't give out like you and "boom boom".

Things that go "click" not "boom" when you walk....

Here's to golf balls that cut through thick air?

Sharsh that one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is Sunday the start of that magical month of August?

Undergrads make their way back to "higher learning."
The beautiful "coed hatch" occurs, course schedules are determined, parties, and of course the excitement starts to build for yet another Husker football season.

But, correct me if I'm wrong, but there's something in the air. Call it electricity, buzz, whatever, but it feels like what I felt in 1970 to 1973 and TO's last 4 years,

Oh, to be a Husker as this confluence of fate, courage, and leadership converges once again on Hukser Nation.

I need to get to a lake. My summer has been occupied with baseball, but I do have the time now.

But golf overrules everything as I like to ice fish just as much. However, I did land a ball on a frozen lake in early spring (hit a really fat shot) and walked out onto the ice, chipped it to about 2ft and made it for par. My partners called "foul", but never seen a ruling against it. Maybe DBP can find one.

The "tug" is always a tough one. Especially when you're married.

Trash,
Ever here about the bet Willy Nelson made.

He bet he could hit a golf ball like some amazing distance. Mile? But he could pick the course.

Not sure of the locale, but he teed up on a large hill over a frozen lake with significant back wind and let her fly and won the bet.

This sounds like David Simms from Tin Cup.

Willie did this too?

I bet DBP was there.

For distance off the tee, he would need a large frozen lake, thin air and a little breeze.....

Spent a few minutes with a couple of Michigan fans at the bar and they made the comment they were going to treat NU just like Ohio State. Pretty high praise for a newby to the conference. I look forward to it and hope to treat the "M" just like Iowa State or Kansas, the ugly step sister that gets lucky every millenium or so. I AM READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!
