Poll check: Huskers 8th, Badgers 7th
Posted by: Brian Christopherson on September 25, 2011 at 12:22PM CST
Nebraska moved up a spot in each set of rankings thanks to a loss by Texas A&M. The Huskers are now 8th in both the AP poll and USA Today Coaches' poll.

Wisconsin, meanwhile is 7th in both polls. Okalahoma State is now ahead of the Badgers in both polls. The Cowboys are 5th in the AP and 6th according to the coaches.

Also of note: Oklahoma is still tops in the coaches' poll but got jumped by LSU for the No. 1 ranking in the AP rankings.

From what I've seen it's hard to not put LSU at No. 1 right now. What say you?

Okalahoma State? Is that imitation brand produced by Walmart? Everytime I see a typo in a Journal Star article I don't even have to scroll up to see who the author is.

It was the stinking altitude that affected Dennard. We were so out of shape because of the lack of strength & conditioning program. Just got plain lucky to get a win last night. I think we better stay home next week & suck our thumbs cause the mighty badgers are going to kick our a$$ sooooo bad.

Posted by: boomboom on September 25, 2011 1:07PM CST
whats up charger
I didn't see the whole game but TM continues to mature IMO

Wonder Monds. I'm right there with you - spelling errors and "what say you" (also used by Sip) are getting real tired especially when done by journalists.

Like Carl said are they going to be ready for us?

Huskers are very young and inexperienced but are growing every game. I've seen wilson play...hes good but not great but can light u up if given' a few more seconds to lookd down field. but i've also seen him get rattled when he was put down to the ground a few times and then he starts to hear footsteps even when their not there. so blackshirts have to hit him hard a few times at start or it'll be a long day for them.

Posted by: NishBigRed on September 25, 2011 1:41PM CST
s it safe?

Are there any positive Husker fans around?

Anyone want to talk about what the Huskers did do right last night?

I have been very critical of Taylor Martinez in the past, but I think he is playing a lot smarter game.

Yeah his throwing motion is not perfect yet he is able to throw down field.

The last two years the only pa$$ (sick of the profanity G O D S) we could completed was the bubble screen and now and then a dink off to the TE.

The Husker have the most complete offense in 10 years.

Their has got to be some kool-aid drinkers out there, heck the fullback is becoming an important part of the offense.

Rejoice there has to be a Makovicka out there somewhere waiting to walk on and be the next great Husker fullback.

Plus we have Freshmen and walk on starting in the line. A line that for the first time in 10 years in knocking people of the ball.

Rejoice. Be happy.

Looking at this mornings paper it's no wounder we didn't get to WY's qb they way they were grabbing jerseys!! i would like to see the holding call we got flagged for.

Sheesh!!!!

Posted by: BO-urNe sUpremacy on September 25, 2011 1:44PM CST
alwaysred,

they play Bama next week, LSU the week after. Probably lose both those games which will most likely drop them out of the USA/AP polls(the polls that matter).

Posted by: NishBigRed on September 25, 2011 1:44PM CST
So I will start the debate again.

Will we see Blackshirts handed out this week?

Judging by most on the blog last night I would think not.

Who knows, it might be next year before the blackshirts are earned.

Not how the tradition was started or meant over the last, 20-30 years.

Posted by: boomboom on September 25, 2011 1:46PM CST
I'm with you Nish

like the thought of rattlin Wilson huskerva1
Bo & Carl know what to do and how to do it

Posted by: Low Country Husker on September 25, 2011 1:48PM CST
There are 18 undefeated teams in the top 25, in the next 2 weeks over half of them play another top 25 team... lot's of football left all the Huskers need to do is focus on the game ahead of them and the rest will take care of itself

Posted by: Brian Christopherson on September 25, 2011 1:50PM CST
Sorry we're driving back from Laramie so I posted the blog from my phone, and couldn't link to the polls.

As for Dennard, he returned to the game later. He didn't seem to be limping coming off the field.

Posted by: charger on September 25, 2011 1:50PM CST
Nish.......I'm so proud of this team right now I could jump out of my skin. In the past (last year) they really got rattled, which they could have done very easily this year & have not. These guys have been around Bo going on 4 years & too me they are really buying into what they are trying to teach them. In the first 4 games we have seen them use different personel without batting an eye, why because the staff trusts these young men. It ain't pretty but you don't get a W for being pretty it's all about putting points on the board.

Posted by: charger on September 25, 2011 1:55PM CST
You know if by some chance Wilson gets his bell rung the badgers could really be in deep dodo. How can u leave your starter in a game/games when your just beating the crap out of the other team?

None of this ranking business means jack squat until all the regular season games are played. Some teams have a very strong schedule at the beginning of the year. Others play cupcakes and still get ranked highly.

Come the end of November and it will be clear "who flung the chunk".

Posted by: BleedingRed on September 25, 2011 2:11PM CST
Brian,

First, were you treated well in Laramie? They seemed to be pretty frustrated as the game wore on.

Second, if no no says that Dennard was hurt then just agree with him. Otherwise he will think you are in on the cover up.

charger,

We have been playing defense thus far with one hand tied behind our back. I am guessing it is because Bo and Carl saw the talent and wanted to shorten the learning curve on some of the deficiencies. Bo's tricky like that, he probably had the entire year planned out 4 months ago.

I thought that Coach Beck would be pretty good but I did not expect what I have seen from him. I really like what he does, when he does it, and how he does it. Wyoming fully expected an upset last night. They not only did not get their upset but got a huge wake up call as to what we could have done had we wanted to. They don't want any part of us now. They got a glimpse of who we are and the world is a lot different for them today than it was yesterday.

Posted by: boomboom on September 25, 2011 2:18PM CST
Bleeding Red
I don't know if you can say we 'demoralized' Wyoming
I'm sure they will bounce back

But I will say that at no point in the game I was ever worried about the outcome

Posted by: charger on September 25, 2011 2:18PM CST
BleedingRed.....How the heck are ya? And yes you are correct in your judgement of Beck. The bigest thing that really sticks out is the rotation of players on both sides of the ball. This is going to be huge. esp in the 3rd & 4th quarters.

Posted by: Viking Husker on September 25, 2011 2:21PM CST
We will absolutely decimate Wisconsin.

We've treated these first 4 games like practices (with a slight exception at Washington) and still put up a ton of points.

When our defense is allowed to play appropriate scheme with it's starters they are lights out. They've looked bad when it's been backups and when we were "practicing" a certain scheme.

On offense we've been vanilla and still scored over 40 in each game (yes I know 38 last night, but we took a knee at the 5 late). Even against Washington we didn't show everything we can do.

If you're worried about Wisconsin, you haven't been paying attention.

Posted by: BleedingRed on September 25, 2011 2:24PM CST

That's probably just my perspective from what I saw during one specific drive.

Posted by: Wrestler on September 25, 2011 2:36PM CST
The polls will be fluid week to week and comparative views etc.? LSU's D esp. good as Bama's but LSU has found life in a QB now?

But the ebb and flow of a season? And some games just in the winning is enough and in others, how you win and on and on?

My guess the ones deserving, will be there at the end?

A good victory in Laramie? And now the first test of mettle, next week in Madison?

I say first, as regardless of this outcome and it's big, the rematch that I foresee, will be even bigger and for higher stakes?

GBR! Zhou Da Hong!

Posted by: BleedingRed on September 25, 2011 2:37PM CST
charger,

I've been good. It's also going to be huge as we get later into the season. Like I said, Bo probably had the whole season planned out 4 months ago.

Viking,

We are just little ol nebraska. I hope that big old bad bully doesn't hurt our little players too much next week. I wish that we could just cancel the game but I guess we have to show up and take our whipping.

Posted by: Huskerva1 on September 25, 2011 2:38PM CST
I jus dont see then going through BAMA or LSU at this time.......their D doesnt seem as sharp as in last few years

Posted by: Busiekcreek on September 25, 2011 2:38PM CST
I didn't take my meds this morning so just forgive my "lingo" and hopefully I don't sound harpy.

Again on the subject of "ratings". I saw last night a group of college fb fans who just might surpa ss the rude/crude Colorado bunch.

W.Va. University offered money to fans to turn in their lewd obscene t shirts before the game.

When an LSU player was down on the field, the entire stadium began booing. Can't break their "fast tempo". The W.Va coach was shown on tv booing at the same time, that is when he was not throwing one F bomb after another.

Nebraska fans beware if you ever have to play in Morgantown W.Va.

Posted by: boomboom on September 25, 2011 2:41PM CST
if you are going to the game on saturday be prepared
from the Wisconsin State Journal:

UW Police say 20 people were arrested, 24 were cited and 29 fans were ejected from Saturday's Badgers football game at Camp Randall Stadium for offenses including underage drinking, possession of alcohol and resisting or obstructing police.

Of those, 11 arrested were UW students, 13 students received citations and 15 students were ejected from Saturday's game against the South Dakota Coyotes, according to UW Police Chief Susan Riseling. Wisconsin won the non-conference matchup, 59-10.

Posted by: rev.redd on September 25, 2011 2:41PM CST
Nish, regarding the blackshirts, I have said that they will come out just before the Wisconsin game. At some point you need to affirm your players and let them now you Bolieve in them. I don't think the tradition of giving out the blackshirt was based upon stats...i.e. so many sacks, yards allowed, points allowed. It was based upon a defensive unit that you were proud to put on the field. If Bo is not a Boliever in his guys by now, he won't be for a long while.

Posted by: Viking Husker on September 25, 2011 2:48PM CST
Yeah Bleeding, we should be scared. Scared we beat them up so bad it warrants an ejection.

Posted by: Fitzy on September 25, 2011 2:49PM CST
I agree with what Bleeding Red is saying....

Bo is very crafty and has been sandbagging both on offense and defense so as not to show all his cards... I believe that once Bo opens it up, people are going to be pretty shocked at what the team can do.

You look at how explosive Jamal Turner is when he gets the ball on his limited targets, you think about how Kyler Reed is not being targeted at all(hes one of the best receiving tight ends in the country folks)... you think about Rex Burkhead running the wildcat stuff... we have seen all 3 freshman running backs make fantastic plays... we have seen the fullback go for 35-40 yards... Bo and Beck are sandbagging so much stuff it is not even funny... They have tried out all kinds of plays in very limited quantities just to put all this different stuff on film... this is a defensive coordinators nightmare right now. Big Red has run power plays, option, zone read, spread, west coast, play action, wildcat, etc, etc, etc.... and had success with all of it. This offense can do so many things with so many weapons, that it will be very hard to stop them all. Watson always talked wanting to be "multiple" ... well this is what he was talking about. Bo must have been using that word and Watson never quite got it. Beck is showing you the very defintion.

The defense will be better than they have shown and they will not need to be perfect with the offense we will have this year. This team can and will put points up on anyone...

I would expect one heck of a game next Saturday and I am not seeing the doom and gloom some are seeing.

Just wait and see folks.

I was proud of the team last night. They had to battle the altitude, which I think they did. We were playing against a team that felt like it had nothing to lose and we came out on top, Burkhead is a monster what else is there to sa about his performance. I thought in the first series we looked a little dazed, but then over came that, The offensive line looked great again. Wyoming was keying on Martinez,so burk head took over.T had a good day overall pas sing, I want to commend the huskers in over comming all these elements, altitude,a team fired up with nothing to lose, their first road game. Now its on to the Big10 play and to a succesful season

Posted by: Viking Husker on September 25, 2011 2:55PM CST
I get the feeling our offense has yet to really be unveiled.

I also get the feeling that our defense has yet to be unleashed.

When Bo lets loose the dogs....hold on to your hats.

Posted by: boomboom on September 25, 2011 2:58PM CST
it's my take that we are doing everything we can and just keep improving each week
in the end same result

rev.,

Do you think that your post is, in any way, a fair a$$e$$ment?

Posted by: NishBigRed on September 25, 2011 3:08PM CST
Wow,
Where were you guys yesterday during the game?

Sheesh.

There were folks that wanted to fire Bo and hire Scott Frost.

I can be negative at times, but the mood was so cloudy on here yesterday I was reaching for the pipe.

The Husker have improved each game, that's all you can ask.

Wow the Three Amigos (Freshman RBs), aren't they exciting and we have 3 to 4 more years of that.

T-Mart is starting to play smart, pa$$ing (Profanity Cops) to more than just one TE.

Sliding and stepping out of bounds.

Yes the gla$$ (Profanity Cops!!!!) is quite full today.

Posted by: Low Country Husker on September 25, 2011 3:08PM CST
Reminds me of the game before Okie State last year. Are the Huskers any good, can they beat their opponent, TMart can't throw...we're doomed. Then the game was played.......TMart Threw, the D played well against a good offense and the fans were content......For a day!

Posted by: JamesoN on September 25, 2011 3:14PM CST
LOL Finally a good mood on here...half the time I sit here and get all pi$$ed off because of the mood. I am very excited for next week. I went to the Wash game and after watching the D I knew Bo has been holding back, it was very vanilla.

Posted by: TheNUorder on September 25, 2011 3:17PM CST
Nish,

I logged on here yesterday during the game and had to get off. I was afraid that some of that negativity would infiltrate the fiber in the network and work it's way past my firewall. I didn't want any part of that in my house.

Amazing how we can all watch the same team and coaches play the same game and some see the end of the world and some see the Huskers coming of age little by little.

Posted by: BigXII on September 25, 2011 3:17PM CST
Cold hard reality hits un next week. Enjoy the top 10, because Saturday the beat down delivered by Wiscy will cause a major fall in the polls for un.

Posted by: Viking Husker on September 25, 2011 3:22PM CST
Low,

My thoughts exactly.

We always show up for big games and we play better on the road than at home.

Honestly I was happy with the team last night. Lots of guys got playing time, and the outcome was still never in doubt.

Keep in mind we were playing an undefeated FBS team at home, at altitude. Plus lots of those kids grew up as Husker fans, wanting to be Huskers and weren't recruited by us (think South Dakota State last year) so they were highly motivated.

And still the outcome was never in doubt.

If you weren't happy with the performance last night I feel bad for you.

Enjoy a win for crying out loud.

Posted by: BigXII on September 25, 2011 3:26PM CST
Which defensive starter won't even make the trip to Madison on Saturday? Your hot-headed coach is doing everything he can to make the defense better, but you can't fix that broken wheel.

Posted by: Low Country Husker on September 25, 2011 3:26PM CST
I look forward to watching this team once they (the coaches) decide to show the nation what they've been cooking up. Next weeks game will be very fun to watch....and if the Badgers make it a competitive game all the better.....what a great time to be a Husker fan!

Posted by: BO-urNe sUpremacy on September 25, 2011 3:27PM CST
Not sure I believe all the "sandbagging" theories. Maybe the D has been "vanilla", which just means we need to improve upon "vanilla".

The youth needs more experience is about all I can say and seems they are improving each week.

Next week will be a close game, no beatdowns either way. I give Wiscy the dges right now based on the maturity of their team, but the Skers have more speed and talent, no doubt in my mind.

We have to disrupt Russell to win this game.

Posted by: Viking Husker on September 25, 2011 3:27PM CST
Freaking Vikings.

Posted by: rev.redd on September 25, 2011 3:40PM CST
Bleeding...not sure what you mean by a fair a$$e$$ment, but it is probably wrong to imply in any way that Bo is not a Boliever in his defensive unit. If that is what I communicated, my bad. Pretty sure he stands behind them and believes in them although he typically admits there are things to get fixed. However, the tradition of the blackshirts seems to be that they were given out as a statement of that belief in your players who bust their butts and give their all. TO would know the psychology of this...bestowing the honor, especially when due, motivates. To with hold the honor for too long, demotivates. If Bo is waiting for the perfect defensive game to be played in order to award the honor, he might be waiting a while.

Posted by: NishBigRed on September 25, 2011 3:41PM CST
Th NUorder,
You never know, I hope your fire-wall is updated.

It was tough bunch last night.

There is some concern regarding the D-line, they was suppose to be anchor of the Defense.

In the past, Bo has almost always had the D prepared for the big games.

OU in 09 and TX in the Big 12 Championship game.

I will believe that Huskers play the Best Defense next week against the Badgers.

Posted by: RED KOOL-AID DRINKER on September 25, 2011 3:50PM CST
I couldn;t believe all the late and cheap hits that wyoming players were commiting, and most of them were shots while our defensive guys had their backs to them. I had respect for this team till last night. They are nothing but cheap shot artists

Posted by: BleedingRed on September 25, 2011 3:57PM CST
rev,

That is what I meant. I had a lot more to say but did not because I know you are a fan. That was the nicest way I could say it. :) No hard feelings I hope. I thought you meant something along those line.

Last nights game went almost exactly as I thought it would. I knew I should have put my prediction in. I thought that it would be 21-14/17-10 at half and then we would end up pretty much where we did if the team came to play, and they did.

Posted by: Bbudus on September 25, 2011 4:00PM CST
Viking...you hit my thoughts right on the head...excellent post(2:21pm).

The NU we have seen is not going to look the same this Saturday night!!

VincentFo...I couldn't agree more. Not only were the Wyoming players playing with incredibly poor sportsmanship, but the refs were absolutely horrible in that game as well.

That was a good scrimmage....er win!!!

Nish...I agree, HSB2 was killing me slowly last night with the "boo-hoo". WHERE WERE YOU PEOPLE LAST NIGHT!!!!

GBR!!!!

Posted by: NishBigRed on September 25, 2011 4:01PM CST
Vincent,
The Head football coach for the Pokes is Dave Christensen, he was coordinator at Missery.

Are you surprised that a coach coming out of the Missery program would put players on the field that are cheap shot artist?

The crap you saw last night from the Pokes was on both sides of the ball. That's coaching. I lost a lot of respect for the Wyoming program last night.

Bbudus,
HSB2 has been posting on here for a few.
I don't know what was up last night, bad batch of shine....lol
I actually was ignoring his post. Especially after he posted we would end up 8-4.

I myself can be negative when I see sloppy play, but last night was a progression.

The was the best example of a balanced attack we have seen in years.

Watson could only dream of an offense that could move the ball on the ground and in the air. Last night there were moments in the game the Husker offense took what they wanted.

If the defense played like it has and Cossgrove was the coach I would be concerned.

5 years ago there was little talent on the D. There is talent, some is really young.

Facts about wisconsin nebraska

1) We have much more talent and better recruiting by far

2) They have shown it more on the field than us.

3) There Defense has been more consistent

4) We have 2 first round draft picks that have yet to play together. THIS MATTERS. They are simply just not replacable and are difference makers.

5) We are on the road in a hostile environment.

6) Wisconsin has not seen our speed and we have not seen this kind of a power running attack

7) Neither team can say theyve played a tougher schedule to date but Badgers have home field advantage.

8) Offensive line and defensive line play may now equal each other out. Wisconsin has showed weakness on their D lines and we have shown inconsistency on O line. Both are improving.

9) Whichever team wins their qb will make a big jump in the heisman voting. Martinez would join the mix and wilson would be thrust to the top.

10) CANT WAIT

Tenn.Martin (FCS) 2-1
Fresno St 2-2
Washington 3-1
Wyoming 3-1

Total Non-Conference 10-5

That is a big, big difference.

I went to a sports bar for the game...ran into some young Washington fans, all in their Wash shirts. At some point, they got new beers, one of them raised it and said "To 3-1...." and looked at me with an NU shirt on and said, "Thanks for the 1".

Anyone watch San Fran and Cinci? Dalton was sacked and his helmet came off. Given Suh's experience, that must mean the DE is a dirty player. it couldn't be that he doesn't put his straps on well.

So our opponents have a 9-6 record.

Wisky's opponents have a 4-11.

I do think we must play our most complete game to date. And I do think bo has been experimenting some with personel.

And that is not a bad thing IMO. He needs to know who his gamers are and the best place to see that is game film.

I am still curious as to why Mitchell stayed home however.

Im with you on the sandbagging as it makes no sense to me
if Dennard can lock down Toon, and David Compton and Fisher can slow down Montee Ball ( his only 100 yrd game against Oregon St) and we can put some heat on Wilson
Our second year starting Qb might look better than thier 5th year senior rookie

PT,
I don't know if it was a full moon last night, bad moon shine or a bad batch of kool-aid, but the boo birds were out in force.

You would think being 4-0 the fire coach comments would be absent.

Someone suggested Bo dose not love the Husker and Scot Frost does....sheesh,
Now that's just a bad batch of crack, right there.

I have been critical of Bo in the past, but I have seen nothing this year to get upset about.

Well, we could dust of the Blackshirts, but heck that's minor.

Timothy unleashes “BECKZILLA” on the Badgers. BECKZILLA will be a multi headed, multifaceted offensive monster with so many looks, so much power and speed sprinkled with misdirection and bombs over the middle that the Badgers won’t know what hit them.

Truly an event of apocalyptic proportion.

Merely looking into the fiery eyes of BECKZILLA will bring the Badger defense to their knees!

PT is on to sth.? About tracking opponents? And then there is the intangibles, that no one talks about?

Florida State lost a close one to Clemson, that beat Auburn easily? Why? Florida State didn't have their starting QB, because of injury in OU game? Went with the freshman? Could have been the difference? In playing a very physical game the week before?

OU was missing Kenny Stills making big catches in Florida State game for Mizzou game, from injury? Both teams played a very physical game from the players accounts with Florida State game and following week missing key components of stars, for their next opponents when needing them?

So it's not just win and loss records, it's the intensity of an opponent and what they bring to the game and the aftermath for playing the next weekend?

The intangibles, that one has to look at a little deeper, for the knowing?

I use this example, in saying not only am I in agreement with the win/loss difference, being better with NU's opponents but also the intangibles of toughness and test of mettle, for preparation of playing each other?

I think NU has the advantage? Wisconsin has the homefield advantage, should be a good one?

But when I evaluate the things, I am talking about above, with PT's astute win/loss margin of difference for opponents and then look deeper, for the intangibles of toughness issues and test of mettle, I think NU is better prepared for the battle, and the win is defnitely doable in Madison?

NU 27 Wisconsin 24 in a thriller game?

I think we are going to reveal ALOT of new stuff for Wiskey,I believe we have alot more Zone read and WildCat plays on offense and on the defensive side we have alot of 3-4 and blitz packages we havent shown, now none of this will matter if we dont execute at a higher level, but no one in this conference will just blow us off the field talent wise, there are Zero Oklahomas,Alabamas,or LSU's in this conference, but if we play poorly Wisconsin can embarr-a-s-s us,and if they play poorly we will hammer them, this will come down to execution,no more missed tackles and no more throwing the ball past a wide open guy trying to get it to someone who's covered,IMO this game will come down to Taylor,if he plays like @Okie State last year we win,if he plays like he did in the bowl game,it will be ugly, very ugly,he needs to show he is a winner, sophmore or not, this game will tell us if we have another legend on our hands or not. Also they need to fix the profanity filter, this is crap, thanks to the idiot that cried his little eyes out and complained about all the "offensive" profanity, the little baby even turned me in for typing Tuck *exas, poor little baby.

Posted by: RedGore on September 25, 2011 5:15PM CST
Boo hoo, we're 4 and 0. I mean, Yay!! We won!! I skipped yesterdays threads...had a feeling there would be a lot of negativity.

I agree with those of you who have suggested that we have been practicing and trying out different players and plays in order to improve and to obfuscate our upcoming game plans.

Someone recently pointed out an article on Bo a few days ago which quoted a former Head coach who had faced Bo's Defenses and later hired him as his D coach.

He was quoted as saying that he was amazed at how well he had prepared his players and how he never showed the same D...that he couldn't prepare for Bo's Ds based on what he had shown in previous games.

I fully believe that Bo has more up his sleeves than I've yet seen or will see even in next weeks game.

Bo, as much as a D master-mind he is, is now the Head Coach who is demanding the same type of performance from his O and O coaches. And I believe that he now has the staff and roster to make it happen.

I agree. Wisconsin will not know what hit them. I don't think any other team we face will have him figured out either.

That said, I think next weeks game will be hard fought, among other games to come. By no means will we have any easy wins in The B1G. Not this year. But soon, very soon, we will be contenders and title holders again

GBR!!

Don't know that I've ever seen true freshmen RBs show such poise and purpose. Well, except for Rex, who looked just as poised and powerful from the first time he set foot on the field.

Add in the speed of T-Mart, Turner, Reed and Bell....We have some SERIOUS weapons Bo will be sharpening this week!

I think the buzz word is chemistry. and the Badgers may have an edge there. It is a veteran team that wilson has fit right into.

We are VERY young and still building that. Thus the inconsistancies that are hard to ignore. But I feel better about this game than I did two weeks ago.

Posted by: NishBigRed on September 25, 2011 5:29PM CST
Wacky,
That's fine, but it more about the 3 RBs. What a joy last night to seem Beck, put one in after another.

Back in the day we had a three players that were a threat, Rozier, Turner and Fryer.

There is a wide variance for both Wisconsin's and Nebraska's in the multitude of rankings:

As a Wisconsin native and a Nebraska grad, I am going to thoroughly enjoy this game. But, I need a Husker win so I have bragging rights when I return to visit family for the Holidays.

PT, Boy you're hot today? Yes, I see these two opponents playing twice in the scheme of things? And if my predicition is failed for the win in Madison, I expect a close one either way?

From you're reasoning and progression for developing with greater upticks for NU than Wisconsin of youth and still maturation, for getting stronger? Chemistry building course 101?

The rematch on neutral field will look different and the moreso, with favoring NU and outcome, will not be close like first game, NU wins it impressively?

But if NU does live up to my prediction and wins 27 to 24 in Madison? Look out!

It might be a season, that tickets are extremely expensive and hard to come by, for VincentFro's Big Red Train of success? All on board yet?

What they don't see is that he is a gamer. He has a knack of geting it done in crunch time. either with his his arm or his legs. He comes up with first downs at critical times to keep drives alive.

....D-line's gott pin those suckers to 3rd and long, all day long...If they allow Badgers to pile up the yards others have so far, it's going to be a tight game, you'd have to think that Badgers will be better in the red zone that NU's past opponents.

"how can we accept anything other than complete dominance on both sides of the ball and defeat all inferior opponents by at least 4-5 TDs...."

To....

"Wisky has played crappier teams with a crappier overall record and NU has tons of crazy offensive/defensive schemes under top secret double probation so NU should win (maybe handily) and stamp their place on the national scene again"....

Even my wife could admire the emotional satire of LITR....

rev, it was bad enough last night I turned it off and did some surfing instead, I did check back occasionally to see if it had aired out but was disappointed in so called fans posting such garbage!

Good evening BR1, it is safe tonight, wasn't so good last night in case you didn't already know it.

I thought there were lots of things to be disappointed about in last nights game. But I also thought there were a lot of good things too. In the end, I'm not completely satisfied, we're not where I expect us to be.. we need to keep getting better.

Kinda sounds like Bo.

Posted by: NishBigRed on September 25, 2011 8:21PM CST
Rev,
Your a funny guy you amuse me....
Yep that was just a sample last night.

I keep, looking at the score, checking my kool-aid for the content, I was worried I had lost my mind and my reality wasn't on the same planted as those you mentioned.

I love the one calling about Bo's heart...shessh
I am not the biggest fan of Bo, but I would not question his heart.

Trash, you SOB, how you been......?

See Profanity Cops? If one really wants to cuss there is always away.

wacky, I didn't have the pleasure of being on the thread. We had 4 tv's going in our home for 7 families including about 20 kids. Admittedly one tv was tuned to MN vs NDSU for my mom, although she surfed back to NU from time to time. One tv was tuned to the Husker VB game. But the largest crowds were around the remaining 2 tv's for FB. There were some groans when a ball came loose, but generally just a lot of cheering. The outcome was never in doubt for any one of us and we all smiled at the win. All that to say, I'm glad I missed out on the LITR experience.

There is always the one by HSB2,

"Carnes reads the option much better than Taylor."

Carnes has run the option play twice, maybe three times in a game.

One time it stank and the other time it went well.

Really?
Now are we going to have the bench T-Mart post put Carnes in?

The Best QB in any game is always the back up

Posted by: big red 1 on September 25, 2011 8:28PM CST
howdy wacky. I did not post last night but read and observed everything.

I thought I was reading a posting from a bunch of whinny school girls here.

A big scheesh.

Posted by: wacky4huskers on September 25, 2011 8:30PM CST
Nish, I am one of those that thinks Carnes is going to be the better QB when he gets the opportunity to really show his stuff.

Posted by: RedDog77 on September 25, 2011 8:30PM CST
boom, whats the site?

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on September 25, 2011 8:32PM CST
Welp... I feel pretty good about things. Our O looks much better. The whole scheme is at least decisive these dyas... which is a huge upgrade. Our D isn't playing as well... but thats to be expected since we lost all those great players in the secondary last year.

We have a chance to win this game... and thats all you can ask for.

Posted by: wacky4huskers on September 25, 2011 8:32PM CST
BR1, I was checking in occasionally to see if the goofs had left, but they kept at it longer than I cared to wait.

Posted by: NishBigRed on September 25, 2011 8:33PM CST
Wacky,
Carnes may turn out to be the best QB in Husker History, but I don't think he is better than Taylor right now and I don't think he is pressing Taylor for playing time.

This isn't Zak Lee vs Cody Green.

Losses to:

Wisconsin
Penn State
Michigan
Ohio State

no I was very polite when I told them there was a lot of speed and firepower coming to town

madbadger told me we were a one trick pony in Martinez and was polite as well

Then I told him how Dennard is back and will lock down Toon Nation leading kick returner # 3 kicker the three headed monster yada yada

and iether my computer froze up or I got locked out so I came back here

Posted by: big red 1 on September 25, 2011 8:36PM CST
I did not get to watch the game because I had to work for 15 hrs. straight.

Many on here just thought Wyoming was going to just lay down for us. That was a big no.

We won the game on true grit and perseverance.

Replace Martinez because he can't throw ? Wow now I have heard it all.

Martinez has a cannon of an arm and he can throw the deep strike.

His throwing long strikes reminds me of an ex NFL Broncos quarterback. And yes I saw him throw from one end to the other.

Nish, I have predicted that BC will be the starter before the end of the season.

I also think he will be the one to lead DONU to our next NC.

If a RB lined up behind the FB behind the QB under center is a Power I...then yes, that is what it was. And they ran right and then left and then right and then left...and they couldn't be stopped.

Posted by: PT Husker on September 25, 2011 9:02PM CST
I am the bad guy who said the BIG is not as strong as the twelve, which was sacrilidge I know. And I also know that will change and soon.

OU was, is, and will remain a power. Texas will be back whether we like it or not. and for now they are still in the Big 12. As is A&M.

On the Plus side Ohio State will also be back and perhaps Michigan.

I think we must admit that any of those teams plus OSU would compete just fine in the BIG

Posted by: NishBigRed on September 25, 2011 9:10PM CST
PT,
I for one am glad the Big 10 is not up to speed this year or are they.

It's a good year us to Break in.

Penn St. will be good again just a soon as Joe Pa decides to retire. He is a youthfull.....80 something so it could be a while.

Ohio St will always be a power. As soon as they get of probation.

Michigan is a major power in recruiting every year and I think the current coach with get them back on track.

The Badger are making a case to be in the elite.

MSU, they can beat anyone on any given day as well as lose.

Iowa, we don't have the best luck against the Hawk-eyes.

Their is Illinois, are they better than Iowa St, cuss the have beaten us a few times.

Again I'm glad the Big 10 is down some this year.

We can come in an steal the Big 10 Championship our first year with a young team.

The next few years we dominate.

I am very curious on how Wisconsin is going to stop our run attack. Very curious indeed.

Nish: MSU has to put together a back to back winning season first which they have not done in a long time.
Besides we have took them 5-0 so I am not worried on this one.

Posted by: rev.redd on September 25, 2011 9:20PM CST
I may be wrong, but I saw the power eye formation just once...not stacked, but a normal eye with the one extra back next to the FB...either that or it was someone in motion who came into the backfield. It was hard to pay attention with 20 kids jumping around. We tried to get parents to tie their kids to the hitching post at the front door, but they didn't like the idea. Anyway...there was a whole lot of regular I formation in the fourth quarter...and it was full of power as they ran over the defense.

Beck did show some looks not previously seen this season like Rex in the wildcat. If he prepares a game plan with everything he has tested so far, it will certainly keep defenses guessing.

I'm impressed with Wisconcin's O-line. They are large. We however can get under them and move a bit quicker. If our linebackers come to play we can limit the rushing game. The question for us will be can we put pressure on the qb and help our secondary. I think for the most part we can. On offense, Taylor tosses the pig pretty well after he throws it some, so my advice is to toss it around a bit more before the game and get zero'ed in before the kick. We don't throw it 30 times per game so it won't wear him down any to warm up extra good. We will have to mix things up in our running game to continue to have as much success on the ground early, but by the mid 3rd qtr we will have their D-line sucking air. Handling the noise is something we did pretty well last week. We look to be proficient in getting ourselves into the right play. Overall, I think were ready. Make sure we tuck it away. Throw the ball with effort to be right on the nose every play and I think our offense will do well. This should be a great game. I only wish I were young and playing in this thing. It should be a great one! Go Big Red!

Posted by: TomOs on September 26, 2011 6:33AM CST
They appear only average speed on the D line and LB's, although one of their LB.. didnt catch his name is a big run stopper, not as fast as our L. David, they are wounded in the secondary have lost 3 guys back there.. we will definitely have to toss the rock to move consistently .. as I believe they will try to stop our run first at all costs.. we will have to stop their run also first, but can not over play it as R. W. likes to throw it, Dennard must be on Toon.. R.W. likes to sit in the pocket, need hits on him.. hit him, that will rattle him.. good things will happen for NU, if that can be accomplished... jm observations..

Posted by: Jackson1 on September 26, 2011 11:28AM CST
This game sure feels like USC in Lincoln a few years ago. An NU Team that doesn't look great and many rationalized the inconsistencies....only to witness a slaughter at the hands of a mediocre USC Team. How can you forget the "We're Back" under Bill Callahan?? Oh....I'm certain nobody on this blog was apart of "that".
