Pelini: QB will be gametime call
Posted by: Brian Christopherson on October 19, 2009 at 11:57AM CST
It's very possible you might not know Nebraska's starting quarterback this week until he trots out for the first snap on Saturday.

Asked about his timetable for making a call on that position, Bo Pelini said Monday: "That will be a gametime decision. Right now nothing has changed. When it changes, we'll announce it."

Do coaches now consider it an open race between Zac Lee and Cody Green?

"It's always open," Pelini said. "That's how we always approach it."

How did Pelini evaluate Green's performance?

"Cody did a couple of good things. He didn't grade out exceptionally well," Pelini said. "He's a young guy who went in there in a tough situation. He made some mistakes. He made a number of mistakes. He's a young guy. He's figuring some things out. He's got a ways to go."

Any chance the quarterbacks rotate?

"We're not real big on a rotating quarterback system," Pelini said. "It's hard to get a guy in rhythm. But we'll see how it goes and how they practice, and we'll go from there. There's a lot of variables. There's a lot of things that could happen. But it would be hard to look in a crystal ball and say this will happen for sure."

The coach said wide receiver Chris Brooks, who limped off the field, and cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, who got dinged and was replaced by Anthony West, are day-to-day. "It's nothing long-term there," Pelini said. "They're both questionable for today, probable for tomorrow."

As for Roy Helu's shoulder? Pelini said he wouldn't characterize it as a "chronic" shoulder injury. He said it's just a stinger. "You get through it," Pelini said. "It's really unrelated to what happened (at Missouri)."

so close, dang number two

3rd BAM!!!

Posted by: drivebyposter on October 19, 2009 12:06PM CST
sheesh that was a Hawkins maneuver. What have the corn become?

Posted by: TommyOC on October 19, 2009 12:09PM CST
driveby - Not the BoulderBongHitters, that's for sure. BTW, Hawkins should be fired for not playing Hansen to start the year. He's much better than his son. I know that you are a big Buffs fan, so that must hurt you a bit, huh?

Posted by: rattenkriegplatte on October 19, 2009 12:10PM CST
Ah ha it has changed, prior to this Zac was the starter he was the man, now it's just a gametime decision. Meaning if he wants it he has to earn it back, but has to earn it harder then the other guy trying to earning it. Not saying the race wasn't always the openest I'm just saying it's opener. So if you want to be the opener you have to be the earner. WTF, screw it I'm posting this drivel.

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on October 19, 2009 12:11PM CST
We might get walloped by OU.

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on October 19, 2009 12:13PM CST
Thats just what I was thinking.

Nothing has changed.... but it's a gametime decision?

Posted by: rattenkriegplatte on October 19, 2009 12:13PM CST
Hawkins should have been fired for much more than the QB situation. Like maybe sucking as a coach?

Posted by: rattenkriegplatte on October 19, 2009 12:15PM CST
Might is too kind, if we don't find an offense we will get walloped by OU

Posted by: Blue Sky on October 19, 2009 12:15PM CST
How's Paulus doing?

"We don't have a QB that can read defenses." - Bo Pelini

Posted by: Exiled_in_VT on October 19, 2009 12:18PM CST
Bo saw how well Leach's game time decision worked this week. It's the wave of the future.

Posted by: drivebyposter on October 19, 2009 12:18PM CST
Tommy, Hawkins has failed his family by what he has done. And it is worse than you know. The pain going forward will be excruciating for Hawkins regardless of the results of this season.

I guess my concern with hearing "the QB will be a gametime decision" wreaks of blaming it on the QB vs looking at the offense as a whole:
poor blocking
inconsistent receivers
weak oh so weak running game
terrible offensive game plan to start
minimal successful offensive adjustments

Doesn't sound like a coaching staff that has it figure out yet.

And in theory, the corn was whupped by a backup qb.

It is a depressing reality, and tough to deal with.

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on October 19, 2009 12:19PM CST
We talked about Auburn and Washington and USC.

I'll give you two more O's I absolutely love. Tennessee and Michigan.

Michigan is 100% Spread.... but it's based off a power run game.

Tennessee is coming to run the ball down your throat. Thats a pro set... with a FB... and they are gonna run it.

Like I've said... our O looks like Ohio State.... without the run game.

Posted by: TommyOC on October 19, 2009 12:21PM CST
Driveby - I agree with you 100%. This is not the QB's problem. It's a coaching problem. And it all starts at the top of that chain.

Posted by: drivebyposter on October 19, 2009 12:23PM CST
Meeeeeeechigan with a frosh qb and a pretty nifty offense. Not only goood but fun to watch. As usual it revolves around the coach and the QB

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on October 19, 2009 12:23PM CST
GBR))) About this time-o-year... we start to look at Ohio State because a couple of my best pals are Michigan guys and girls. I've watched 4 Ohio State games recently. I'm with you 100% now. Pryor kinda sucks. He just doesn't get it... and I doubt he ever will. Just doesn't have it mentally. He should have gone to that Spread at Michigan or PSU.

"guy in rhythm" seems like playing an entire game hasn't really got Zac into "rhythm" so why not throw Green into the mix? I don't think Green is ready to run the offense for an entire game but he is a play maker. with our #1 RB injured and down to our 4rth stringers at RB -- he could be a running (QB) threat.

BTW Helu IS hurt you can tell by the way he's running. Bo is trying to use the old smoke screen on Helu's injury. It's clear that Helu isn't 100%.

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on October 19, 2009 12:25PM CST
BRG))) I've got my hopes pinned on being ready next year.

Posted by: Bumarooskie on October 19, 2009 12:26PM CST
Scary. One QB experienced but, for whatever reason, not able to pull it off. One QB talented but inexperienced. Recievers that turn up MIA in games. O-line suspect. Dinged running backs.

Other than that, Mrs Lincoln, how have you enjoyed the play so far?

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on October 19, 2009 12:26PM CST
Yeah but he hasn't gotten one lick better and he's started two years. I'm not sold on Pryor.

Posted by: PT Husker on October 19, 2009 12:27PM CST
What terribnle offensive game plan??? We drove the length of the field. OH, It forgot. Paul dropping the ball and the rest of the team standing around looking at it was in the game plan. My bad.

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on October 19, 2009 12:28PM CST
I know this is wishful thinking... but I wonder what the NAvy head coach gets paid?

Ken Nuimatalolo for Nebraska OC!

Geez Step, I can't believe your sold on Ohio State much less their QB. They've sucked for years!

And what is Bo waiting for. Doesn't he read theis blog???. the decesion has been made. Cody Starts. Who does he think he is, the coach or something???

Drivebyposter, I am fully aware of Nov 7th as I have a schedule posted by the puter. Logic says they will tear us to shreds. Being a rabid Tiger fan, I don't choose to see it quite that way.

We roasted the goat last July 4th, so make no further attempts to get mine. It won't work.

Somebody tell Watson that when there are 8 in the box... that means there are only 3 back.

Posted by: Bloozman on October 19, 2009 12:35PM CST
When Rodriquez gets his players, Meechigan will tear the Big 10 a new ahole! Those teams are so slow they can't catch a cold!

Posted by: drivebyposter on October 19, 2009 12:36PM CST
PT that fish is ugly. Just like the offensive offense, and that offense was not designed by the players.

Players will make mistakes in every game. But without a realistic plan that they believe in, and I am convinced they do not believe in it, the chances of winning diminish.

BO is a hardassed defensive coach. Defensive coaches in most all cases have a hard time "influencing the offense" as head coaches.

Different mind set required. And it ain't a just run over them mentality.

Bo needs an offensive coordinator. Watson was a pretty dang good tight ends coach. And that is all I can say on the subject

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on October 19, 2009 12:39PM CST
Interesting that they burned Tray Robinsons redshirt.

But I agree with it. The best players play.

Posted by: MileHiHusker on October 19, 2009 12:41PM CST
What are the Huskers going to do about their lack of offense? They are an unlucky bunch as well, but always ahve been. QB Green needs a lot of work from what I saw. I wonder if the coaches even know who their best players are??

Posted by: Bloozman on October 19, 2009 12:42PM CST
BRG, I agree, talent abounds in Huskerland, so it's up to the coaches. Henry reminds of Incognito, lots of raw talent, but a little wacked out.

Posted by: TheNUorder on October 19, 2009 12:43PM CST
BRG, I can't take the pressure and intimidation any more. Promise me you will never hit me with that stick!!

The huskers look a few years away from really challenging the South. That's disappointing.

The best players play. ST's is 1/3rd of the game.

Mile High, the entire North is a couple years a way. At least as far as OU texas are concerned. And maybe Okie St and TT.

Posted by: NishBigRed on October 19, 2009 12:56PM CST
Coach Speak. Game time decision. Come on, Bo Coach your boys up! You got to get better at everything. Even your bedside manner. How about 80,000 fans stand outside the stadium and decide at game time if they will walk through the turn stiles or not. Naw that won’t happen 86,000 fans will be there for the next home game regardless if you have name the starting QB, starting DB, or LB or tells who going to play at running back, heck you won’t even tell who the recruits are that are coming to visit. Because it’s none of our business. Ever heard the old saying “Need to know”. As a common folk I don’t have the need to know nuting. We should all wear red mushrooms rooms because Bo wants to keep us in the dark. lol

Posted by: rattenkriegplatte on October 19, 2009 12:57PM CST
Step - sucks though couple of injuries to special teams guys and you have to burn a shirt on a guy you didn't really want to.

MileHi - I wouldn't say a few years I'd say the gap has closed markedly albeit this score definantly wasn't closer than last years. If we hadn't played keep away last year we would have gotten lit up. This year O does nothing and gives up seven and they get 24. 259 yrds and 24 pnts to TT aint a bad day against TT. Most people do worse, where oh where did our O go???

Posted by: TheNUorder on October 19, 2009 12:58PM CST
Nish, Bo could probably care less if he keeps us in the dark but bet he wants to keep I state Guessing

Posted by: BleedingRed on October 19, 2009 12:58PM CST
I see it all a lot differently that most on here. I still believe that we can win not only the big 12 north but the entire big 12. I have zero apprehension about playing OU and Texas.

We have some things that need to be fixed, that is for sure. However I also know that we have what it takes to not only fix it but to compete with the South.

Don't think so? Wait and see. I have watched so many games where one team is blown out. Sometimes they were the better team sometimes not. What I have almost always seen is the the difference from being really bad to really good is so small that it is scary.

We have what it takes to be very successful. Let's see what happens.

Posted by: PT Husker on October 19, 2009 1:01PM CST
If we want the North, we have no choice but to win out, Other than OU. Then we have the tie breaker

Mizzu is 0-2 in confrence. their road is tough. Kansas is 1-1 as are we. Cu is 1-1 K State, 2-1 Iowa St 1-2.

After this weekend I State is 1-3 and out of it.

The goal is still intact.

Posted by: Outside The Box on October 19, 2009 1:01PM CST
Let's not get our undies in a bunch over Robinson burning his redshirt. This is different than Harrison Beck coming into the second to last game to save Billy's bacon or Beau Davis being thrown to the wolves at Tech in 2004.

This apparently is someone the staff feels can contribute on offense, so getting him into the game on special teams is a good way to show him Big 12 speed without putting him in a position where failure is likely.

Posted by: drivebyposter on October 19, 2009 1:05PM CST
...maybe I could make her flop.

PT, I said I would not talk about Watson anymore, but since you bring it up.

Watson is "out of the box" and that is the problem. Out of the box meaning past his level of competence.

Defined as:
out of the box also has the connotation of using a system without customization, such that it is usable with a Vanilla offense.

Aslo can be applied to posters with said handle

Posted by: Wrestler on October 19, 2009 1:08PM CST
Nov.7th is a game up in the air in my opinion as both teams have some major problems right now and the one that corrects it best over the weeks remaining will have the decided edge period? OU's offense struggling also so a mirror image of each other in many ways? Olines for both teams as of now subpar? QB's same situation, Sam is out now for the season? Should have gone on into NFL looking back? At end of RRS game two times they had chances to drive down for winning TD's and threw picks instead? Oh yes, now at OU forget loss of great TE before season started and some others? If Sam would have remained healthy throughout season now with a 3 loss season of a total of 5 pts for all their losses, probably with Sam undefeated with a subpar Oline? But Jones now no Sam in the wings even? So both teams have solid defenses edge NU except a dback positions but not a big edge, close? Offenses about on par also struggling and can't score many points when needed in big games? Sound familiar? So what team improves the most on offense will win in Lincoln on Nov. 7th is my prediction as of right now have them dead even? GBR! Zhou Da Hong!

Posted by: Boonies on October 19, 2009 1:08PM CST
Hey, the best players play, and our special teams aren't so special so if DT can contribute he needs to be out there.

Also, I thought Mendoza didn't look half bad. He didn't hit the holes like Roy, but he ran tough and didn't go down easy...give him some more reps and he might break out?

Posted by: MileHiHusker on October 19, 2009 1:08PM CST
I think the receivers need to practice catching the football. I wonder if they have any drills that they can use to make them better at that. I have seen better hands on a lot of highschool receivers. It also seems that the QB's don't practice thorowing the ball to receivers at full speed becase they sure are off the mark during games.

Posted by: TommyOC on October 19, 2009 1:10PM CST
We have a need for speed on offense.

Posted by: Dave on October 19, 2009 1:12PM CST
I continue to be amused by the fascination so many have about whether somebody redshirts or not.

We still have 7 or 8 games remaining this season, so I wouldn't call it "burning" if somebody plays now.

No doubt Bo is not happy about the offensive performance, and I'm certain they'll make every effort to fix it. Barney needs to figure out how to make his linemen play more physical football and eliminate the stupid penalties that are helping kill drives.

The Nov 7th game may be only important to the corn. The soonees could easily be 2 and 2 in the big 12 by then and 4 and 4 overall.

Two unranked teams. Who would have thunk it.

The other game on Nov 7th is LSU and the tides. This is one where LSU needs to be LSU, not LAL

Posted by: Wrestler on October 19, 2009 1:17PM CST
Yes as bad as everyone feels about TT game the goal is obtainable and with correction to the offense can be realized? As North division doesn't have a outstanding opponent that is clearly dominates, for the Huskers to face, so why not the Huskers winning the north with corrections to some degree to the offense? In truth the only team now of national significance in Big 12 is UT and unless they step it up some, don't look to be even close to SEC's better teams right now? GBR! Zhou Da Hong!

Posted by: NishBigRed on October 19, 2009 1:17PM CST
Red shirts, Blackshirts, Bo don’t care about no shirts at all!!! Next question!

Posted by: rattenkriegplatte on October 19, 2009 1:19PM CST
No ones undies are in a bunch although your argument is so far invalid unless he gets pt at his position it's burning it. I agree that you have to put the best guy on the field. That said no injuries to special teams guys he still has a shirt. Still learning and lifting and growing with four years left. No matter how you slice it burning redshirts is not fun, unless he's good enough to play his position. One extra year is 5 - 10 lbs and a world of experience. We agree to disagree. Moving on

Posted by: Wrestler on October 19, 2009 1:21PM CST
Yes DBP I see Sooners losing possibly to NU and Okie Lite and TT even yet? OU like NU needs a huge transformation in their offense right now and like NU there defense is solid for the most part? Big change from last year where offense on the whole awesome and defense suspect? What a difference a year makes in football sometimes? GBR! Zhou Da Hong! That being said regardless of the outcome of this year for Huskers, I do think next year could be magic for them if certain changes come about?

Busiekcreek where is that game at Bama? I think homefield plays a role in that game? Busiekcreek, I hope you don't mind me saying this but as of now Bama looks better than Florida? Of course that means nothing as when they play each other that's when it counts? Going into RRS game UT looked to be at least a 2 TD favorite to me but it turned out close? So LSU game with Bama and Bama and Florida game all depends on what transpires during the course of the game I suppose? 3 of the best teams in the country for this year in my opinion! Zhou Laohu!

Some of you are just too worried. I think we've got the offensive tools to have a pretty decent offense. Dropped passes, mis-reads by the QB, mental mistakes by the Offensive Line, all have contributed to the recent power outage, but all are correctible.

Playcalling has been suspect at times, but we don't know what's called and what's been checked into. Its not doomsday.

Thankfully, this defense gives us a chance to win all of our remaining games. Maybe the offense will be able to eliminate their mistakes.

Good to see both KU and MU losing Saturday. Now the Tiggers have a date with Texas. I'm pulling for the Horns, but I think Mizzou has a shot at the upset.

Fortunately, there are not posters here whose handle is "out of the box". Regardless, I'd consider finding a new online dictionary, because the one I use defines it as:

"The power or ability to invent: creativeness, ingeniousness, ingenuity, invention, inventiveness, originality. "

We can debate if that applies to Watson this year or in past years when his offenses have put up big numbers.

Also, I'm not sure you meant by "Aslo can be applied to posters with said handle". I doubt you're making a reference to the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography. Is aslo some type of slur?

No time to read all the way back, so apologies if I am duplicating a previous post. My take on the game time decision is this...Green will start. It makes absolutely no sense to announce to the world that you are going to start a QB that will considerable change how you would prepare your defensive game plan. By doing it this way ISU will have to prepare for both QB's without being able to focus on one. They are probably thinking that Green will start as well, but they can't take that chance in preparation they will have to prepare for both.

Posted by: Outside The Box on October 19, 2009 2:21PM CST
GBR - in addition, this staff has proven that the player who has the best week of practice will play on Saturday. Numerous examples on defense this year.

The QB position, although vital to our success, should not be exempt from this policy.

Let's see who steps up and earns the job in practice.

TOC, yep he's still steamin' and probably will be come Saturday. I wouldn't be surprised if in the pre-game meeting with the officials Saturday that he tells them that if they screw up he's going to chew on their a$$ too. Officiating in all the Big XII games I've watched this year has been well below what I would consider accepatable. My best friend from HS is the referee on one of the Big XII crews but I haven't seen his crew yet, I hope his group is doing better than his compadres.

GBR,
How much preparation does one have to do for Zak Lee?

Posted by: PT Husker on October 19, 2009 2:25PM CST
Unlike us. Bo has moved on. Not forgotten, just moved on. They got a game to play on saturday and a bunch of desceions to make.

I am gonna be real curious how they make a physical line out of wone that has do shown it with consistency all year. Oh wait, perhaps they are capable jsut don't do it on every play. No that can be fixed. If it can't, or isn't Then maybe Barney goes back to Seasme Street.

Posted by: PT Husker on October 19, 2009 2:27PM CST
God i butchered that. Make a physical line out of one that has not shown it.

Better. Remember the edit button PT.

Posted by: NishBigRed on October 19, 2009 2:28PM CST
What are you talking about? Barney was never on Sesame Street. No way big bird would let a purple dinosaur hang out on their street

I don't get the statement "Green didn't grade well". Jeez coach how did Lee grade?

Posted by: GBR in Texas on October 19, 2009 2:31PM CST
Nish, point well taken. They do have to honor the games where he had successes but I'm sure that they can simply look to collapse the pocket because they know he's not going anywhere. But just the threat of having Green in means that they do have to change the approach to the possibility of a QB being able to run in all facets of the offense.

Posted by: NishBigRed on October 19, 2009 2:35PM CST
The defense could get way with rushing 3. Use an extra DB and challenge Zak to complete the pass. Most cases even if they are open he throws high or behind them. Even if he gets to the receiver it’s 50/50 if the receiver catches the ball. PS it not we are going to rush the ball, unless the games gets out of hand then we try to establish the running came no matter how much clock is burned.

Posted by: GBR in Texas on October 19, 2009 2:35PM CST
Crazy, it's entirely possible that Green didn't grade well in their grading system but that doesn't mean he didn't do good things. Sometimes you can have a great result on a play but if something negative about your execution occurred you could graded negatively. Happens all the time. That said, if Green didn't grade well I'd hate to see how Lee graded out!

Posted by: Outside The Box on October 19, 2009 2:37PM CST
Crazy Jack, no one said Lee graded out better than Green - it's just that Green did look like a freshman: 7-16 with an INT, throwing into coverage and rarely looking off receivers.

Posted by: GBR in Texas on October 19, 2009 2:38PM CST
You're right PT, Bo has put it behind him. Or at least I hope he has.

Posted by: TommyOC on October 19, 2009 2:39PM CST
You'd think Kansas would have been a little more prepared for Hansens mobility, but they weren't. A mobile QB is a weapon, for sure. That being said, you can't have a QB just throwing to the other team four or five times a game either. Design some offense around the skills and deal with the rest.

Posted by: PT Husker on October 19, 2009 2:44PM CST
Did I dream this, Or was Lee 16 of 22. I must have dreamed that. Not possible

Posted by: GBR in Texas on October 19, 2009 2:46PM CST
OTB, I think I will take 7-16 with an INT vs a prevent over holding the ball too long and taking a sack anyday. Based upon what I've seen, and granted it's not much on Green, I just don't believe there is much of a decision to make. I might even go as far as to say that I would rather they run LTW out there before they run Lee out there again. He doesn't have "it" and he has had ample opportunity to prove himself. Just my opinion, I could be wrong but I definitely don't think so.

In case you didn't see the ESPN article yesterday about the quarterback issue, i copied and pasted a bit of it. Interesting.

Nebraska fans' voices have been heard. They want a quarterback change.

More important, coach Bo Pelini might want one, too.

"Yeah, absolutely," Pelini said when asked if he would consider making freshman Cody Green the starter after the Cornhuskers turned in another lethargic offensive performance in Saturday's 31-10 loss to Texas Tech.

Offensive coordinator Shawn Watson said after the game that he wasn't ready to declare the job open, but that could change by the time the team returns to practice Monday.

He was PT, 16-22 for 12somethin' yards. Sacked 4 times I believe. Numbers can be deceiving. That's a problem with alot of OC's, they are blinded by numbers and don't see the lack of results. See it everyday and don't like it. I don't care how good or bad the numbers are if you get the results.

Gotta go back to school, maybe make it back later on tonight.

LTW is frankly not a bad option. Big strong power type runner. If that is what we want then why not. 3 Receivers left, then 3 receivers right. run strong side, wide side. Out man them and Let LTW. carry the ball.

I agree that a change is needed, but I wonder when the last time our QB was ranked number 3 in passer efficiency in the Big 12, and we benched him. I was a little stunned when I just read that Zac was number 3 in the conference in passing efficiency.

I'll take the number 12 rated quarterback if he helps the team win games.

Well put! I took a course called "Statistical Facile" in my MBA program few years back. Great course! Stats have replaced the little white lie in modern day society. Ranked 3rd in Big 12 because of games with Sunbelt teams and has what one good qtr. in 12 against stiffer competition? And you're going to make decisions on stats that are worthless? Fans get too caught up on stats sometimes coaches too, although would like to think that coaches are a little smarter than regular fans and their stats? Stats are only as good as what they truly represent and if they tell the whole story of meaning? GBR! Zhou Da Hong!

PT like OU I think a Oline has to mature like a fine wine somewhat, meaning to gel as separate components into one outstanding unit is slower for results than plugging in talented athletes at skill positions alot of times? When you lose experience off Oline you just can't plug in guys quickly and get same results? So they can tweak it and point out mistakes and work on their footwork and coordination of assignment blocking for different things they might see but all that comes together over time and experience? I don't expect to see great improvements in OU's Oline until next year? Maybe I am wrong? But Olines can doom somany teams with injuries etc. as your replacements just don't perform at same levels alot of times? GBR! Zhou Da Hong!

Posted by: Wrestler on October 19, 2009 3:51PM CST
PT to add one thought to a performance of a OLine to each game it depends on the matchup of the opponents Dline and LBers as well and do they mismatch better with players across from different Oline positions to exploit their weaknesses or not? Thus game to game will have different results based on individual matchups as well? GBR! Zhou Da Hong!

Nobody on I find this once in awhile because of living in HK and not states? So leave you for preparation for school, sorry to have missed Coach GBRTX and PT and others? GBR! Zhou Da Hong!

Since nobody is on let me use an example to illustrate my point that with coaching stats and titles isn't everything? One year when coaching in D1 in wrestling I attended and scouted Ohio State Highschool Championships for recruiting purposes. Ohio is one of those states in wrestling like Oklahoma and Iowa, that is like scouting HS football in Texas? So top 4 placers at any given wt class gets ones attention as they would all be state champs in many other states? I was watching the finals at one wt. class and the guy that won it wanted to come to the school I was coaching at? But it was the loser to him in finals that caught my attention moreso? Intangibles that coaches use in their respective sports? Close loss and more skillful the winner but much more potential the loser for development at next level that I saw and felt? Thus scholarship was offered in this case to the loser not the winner? Strange not in the least? The athlete we recruited in Ohio was never a state champion, no never? A three time placer though going back to his soph. year. With development and potential seen into college and his style fitting our program at the time, he went on to a NCAA championship before graduating as we had him doing freestyle in the off seasons etc. for his advancement and it paid off? So a nonstate champion in Ohio is a D1 champion at university level? If you just go by stats you will lose in a lot of situations in sports? So much to coaching and some comes from the gut? GBR! Zhou Da Hong!

I agree Wrestler. Potential is much more important.

Wrestler, I've had the computer on all day as I have been off work. I fully understand your 4:18 pm comment.

So sorry your Sooners didn't make it against Texas. I rooted for them every minute. Still think the Gumps or Gators can take out the Longhorns. Of course that could be some of that SEC pride coming out. If things don't change (and they certainly can) looks like TX and Bama/Florida for the NC.

Tell GF I said hello and I love the photograph you have on today. I try to imagine what the chinese thought process must be over the way we carry on over fb. Have a good class today and make us proud.

BusiekCreek,

They probably understand just fine. They have their own cultural passions.

I've got to do a little research on Iowa St. Not on my radar.

As for the Chinese, you're right.

Wrestler,

I think that since you are already over there that you should be the representative for the Huskers.

Your first task should be to gather a group of children and teach them the game of football. First and foremost they should be taught about sportsmanship. Secondly they should be taught that they are free to choose any team that they enjoy watching. Third, they should be taught that the Huskers are a pretty good choice if they are having difficulty choosing. Lastly they should be taught to have fun, give their best effort and to stay humble when times are good and to perservere when times are going to be better.

If you need some footballs let me know and I will see what I can get for you.

BusiekCreek,

We had better be prepared to play a complete game Saturday.

To once again play as we did this past week will result in an unfavorable outcome.
