NU commit has strong bond with Raymond
Posted by: Brian Christopherson on February 21, 2012 at 12:06PM CST
One recruit who was not at Nebraska's junior day this past weekend was Tre'vell Dixon.

Currently standing as the lone commit in Nebraska's 2013 class, Dixon had a good reason. He was running in the state indoor track meet.

Dixon, who the Huskers are recruiting as a defensive back, is planning to come up for one of the summer camps, his coach Ryan Antoine told me last week. Having committed to Nebraska sight unseen, Dixon's next visit to Lincoln will be his first one.

Nebraska (particularly Corey Raymond) was the first school to push hard after the 6-foot-1, 195-pound athlete from Baldwin, La. But Dixon, who had almost 2,200 yards of offense as his team's quarterback last fall, has also received offers from Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Arizona State.

He'll likely get some more offers before it's done. Whether one of those comes from local school LSU remains to be seen.

But even if LSU does come a calling, Antoine said Dixon's relationship is very tight with Husker secondary coach Corey Raymond. Antoine and Raymond grew up together in the same town, even coached together for one season.

There's a trust there. Trust is tough to beat when it comes to recruiting.

"I feel that other schools are going to come (after Dixon) but the relationship that Tre'vell has with Coach Raymond and the relationship I have with Coach Raymond is a strong one," Antoine said. "I want him to go to a good coach, a coach that I know is going to take care of him."

More on Dixon in a story tomorrow.

Sign him up. We need good athletes at cornerback!

Raymond's name continues to come up on commits. He must relate to them pretty well, and his NFL experience probably doesn't hurt either.

Just a reminder: Please do not post spam on the blog. Different opinions on topics are welcome as long as expressed in a civil manner. Most are already very good about this. That message is aimed at only a few.

As always, we appreciate your readership.

Thanks for your message Brian. Seems some guys really get carried away. The HC is responsible for the assistants. It is a coaching team, and I have not seen enough bad to think its time to get rid of this team. Am I happy with our past few years, NO, but I still think we are a growing program with this team. If we are still in the same place in a few years, then its time to evaluate again. I like that we have quality kids who represent this program fairly well.

Well, BC, I think you proved your point. I would hope PH is now blocked from the LITR.

Someone is having a little tempertantrum.. maybe he should go back to his bedroom

Posted by: AlanM on February 21, 2012 12:30PM CST
Brian, Don't you think now is a good time to practice your editing skills?

Posted by: AlanM on February 21, 2012 12:31PM CST
Thank You!!

Posted by: 4BigRed on February 21, 2012 12:31PM CST
Wow, that didn't take long to remove those posts! Can we do the same thing with the Bammers? ;>)

Posted by: TomOs on February 21, 2012 12:33PM CST
Now sit in your bedroom and think about what you just did..

Posted by: 4BigRed on February 21, 2012 12:37PM CST
TomOs, I have a feeling he was already in his bedroom in the basement. If we really want to punish him, let's make him go upstairs and tell his mommy and daddy what he did.

Posted by: TomOs on February 21, 2012 12:43PM CST
You are probably right.. but I imagined it kicking and screaming while laying on the living room floor.. seen that behavior before..

Posted by: TomOs on February 21, 2012 12:45PM CST
and if you continue this behavior.. you are going to end up LIVING IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!!

Posted by: 4BigRed on February 21, 2012 12:47PM CST
"And what did you learn in school today, Billy?"

"Mommy, I learned how to copy and paste and it's really cool. I'm the best one at it in the whole class!"

Time for a BAN!

Posted by: Islander/Husker on February 21, 2012 12:50PM CST
It's Victoria time. Power4Huskers, now excuse for you highjacking the tread and make malicious comments.

As soon as make this post I am going to send a message to Victoria to have her look at this thread and take the appropriate action.

Posted by: 4BigRed on February 21, 2012 12:52PM CST
Sadly, someone had already deleted the previous 5 identical posts, but 7 more makes it an even dozen and legitimate grounds for a banning.

Posted by: CBHusker on February 21, 2012 12:53PM CST
Great. Get the talent and speed were they have the most. Establishing trust with local coaches is even better. If Raymond can get kids from La., that's were to go.

As for Power4Huskers:
GET A LIFE!!GET A LIFE!!! (That's all I have time for, because I have one)

Well, we know that Everybody Loves Raymond.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on February 21, 2012 12:57PM CST
I did send a message to Victoria. I leave it to her good hands.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on February 21, 2012 12:59PM CST
Victoria was online so I think she handled it as the posts are now gone. Good.

Posted by: Ray in Bellevue on February 21, 2012 1:00PM CST
Well, one commit is one better than none.

BC - I'm still upset with you ever since the WI game. I walked right by you walking out of the stadium and you didn't even say hi. I was even wearing NU gear...

Posted by: BO-urNe sUpremacy on February 21, 2012 1:53PM CST
Hmmmm, blog police out in force today, eh? You'll all be pleased to know that this marks the 3rd year EL Supremo has not caused horrendous controversy and personal attacks and been booted from said blog, yay!

EL Supremo, keepin' it real.

hmmm, too bad I missed la drama, now I am curious...

Posted by: charger on February 21, 2012 2:04PM CST
Let's put it this way PH had no luv loss for Coach Raymond. He got wut he deserved. I'm sure it will show back up in some form or another.

Posted by: Brian Christopherson on February 21, 2012 2:06PM CST
BigRedinKC, My bad. If it was right after the game I was probably trying to find my way to the postgame room (which can be an adventure unto itself in road stadiums) before it was too late.

Nino, Don't believe it's a serious injury. Sounds like a sprain.

Posted by: Ray in Bellevue on February 21, 2012 2:29PM CST
El Supremo

What about before those 3 years? I can't believe you ever were booted off a blog. And what about PH? I don't recall him ever saying anything out of line. Oh well, easy come, easy go. What comes around, goes around.

Posted by: Ray in Bellevue on February 21, 2012 2:30PM CST
Brian

Have you heard anything about Cady's knee injury?

Posted by: nino_43 on February 21, 2012 2:35PM CST
BC> Thanks. I sure hope its just a Sprain. Remember Chris Williams(I think that was his name) LB from Tx that ripped up his knee in his last game? I really like rose! He looks like a monster in his hi-lights! GBR!

ray,

PH is like all "fire Corey Raymond" spam guy--on a mission.

El Supremo, in his formative years as a blogster, was want to "take on all comers"...and got tossed like salad from el bloggo. Given time to reflect upon his errant ways, he realized he was "talking" merely to invisible, cyber entities--and, oh, the futility of it all...

EL Supremo learnt his lecione'...

Posted by: TomOs on February 21, 2012 3:53PM CST
PH.. was just making his point, opinion, about a ...... 1,000 times..

it's just like rice: rice is really good when you are hungry and want 1000 of something...

Posted by: Ray in Bellevue on February 21, 2012 4:08PM CST
El Supremo

Yea, I remember now his comments about Raymond, but they were spread over the past several months. They seemed a little pointed at the time, but still it was his opinion. Is there a taboo about criticizing UNL staff?

Why now the expulsion? I don't recall any foul language or threats. Shouldn't he have received a warning first? Maybe, he did. Well, whatever, I supose it was deserved, knowing that the LJS would be fair minded.

Posted by: BO-urNe sUpremacy on February 21, 2012 4:13PM CST
ray,

I think it was after the SC game, or during, he was posting spams that read "fire Corey Raymond" over and over hundreds of times--then he'd do it again, and again. Probably a revisit of that today.

And woe to he who attempts foul language on this pristine and Puritanical sports blog.

insider tip: references to spandex and spanking and cheeks in gluts will get a rise out of wrastler every time--try it for your own self...

like recruiting, the no. of *s has no bearing on the quality of an "a".

BC - Understood, you were flying around like a madman I do recall. One of the worst days of my life; buzz wore off and I had to walk out through the madness.

Posted by: [gofor2] on February 21, 2012 8:02PM CST
Brian- Is Dixon in any all-star games next year? I would love to see him making friends and talking up our program (like Rose this year).

Posted by: wacky4huskers on February 21, 2012 8:47PM CST
gofor, I don't think that BC has a crystal ball to be able to predict the future invitees for next years all-star games :)
