Husker recruit Rose injured
Posted by: Steve Sipple on February 22, 2012 at 8:52AM CST
Michael Rose, a linebacker recruit in Nebraska's 2012 class, suffered a knee injury during a basketball game Sunday.

Rose, of Kansas City, Mo., reportedly saw a doctor Tuesday. The injury doesn't appear to be serious, he told HuskerOnline.com.

"They did an X-ray, said everything was good with the X-ray, and said there was no bone damage," Rose said. "He looked at my knee and said everything was stable. He said the ACL and all the ligaments felt good. We'll see what the results are when they come back from the MRI (Wednesday).

"He said that he doesn't believe there is any ligament damage, just soft-tissue damage, and that would just take a couple of weeks to heal. We'll get the results a few days later about the ligaments and how the soft tissue is looking."

Rose is part of what's regarded as a strong group of LBs in the Huskers' 2012 class

Not good news. I thought he might be one that could see early playing time. Heal fast, Michael!

I blame Barney Cotton.

Will the black cloud ever leave?

Bone damage isn't a problem as long as it doesn't kill the ligaments. You can break your fibula close to your knee and play football in about six weeks... (I played intramural basketball...poorly...but nonetheless, about a month after breaking my fibula near the knee) as long as no connective tissue is damaged. the problem will now be making sure the muscles are all working in the proper proportion after his layoff, otherwise it will lead to more chronic problems.

I have to ask the question that has been raised on here before, was there enough stretching going on with Mr. Rose?

If there was not, the obvious solution is to fire a coach at NU.

The fibula is largely a non-weight bearing bone in the lower leg, unlike the tibia, so a fracture can heal faster and is less painful. You can walk with a hairline fracture of the proximal fibula (below the knee) without much discomfort. On the other hand, a distal fibular fracture at the ankle might make your ankle unstable and even require surgery. So you were lucky.

Ray, buddy, you are the black cloud.

Just kidding, but I found your first post rather humorous. I just figured you were that Joe Btfsplk guy from Lil Abner. The black cloud was a permanant fixture.

Ray, the sun shines alot here in beautiful HK?

So if you have to wait for 2013, I think too long?

You and I see the season pending differently? As I see it moving up from season past and defnitely a nice prelude to 2013 season coming, that Hawking would depict as a sunburst:

consisting of rays or beams radiating out from a central disk in the manner of sunbeams. Sometimes part of a sunburst, a semicircular or semi-elliptical shape, is used.

Meaning, yes may I say it? 2013 a opportunity for the whole enchilada?

Now that comes after the prelude season of 2012 in winning the division?

S. Miss. and UCLA are winnable my friend? And confidence, coupled with better execution and performance will delight for Big Ten competition, as well?

Your nondesired pessimistic outlook, for fate of 2012 somewhat taints your thoughts about how good our opponents really are or aren't?

And it diminishes your assessment of the Huskers, for the playing as well?

But never came across a person, so wanting to be proven wrong, as yourself? Reverse Psychology, your patient doctor consultations, were they laced with sorcery applications but hoping good will triumph at last?

Interesting guy, Ray is indeed?

Here's hoping, that Ray is proven wrong for season 2012 pending?

Go Pot Bellied Pigs!

Let me get this straight, you have D1 scholarship coming for football and you're stupid enough to actually play another sport? I am suprised that the NU coaching staff is ok with any player competing in a sport that can cause career ending knee injuries. Lesson learned!
