Grimble high on Huskers
Posted by: Brian Christopherson on April 22, 2010 at 12:10PM CST
Jalen Grimble, the highly-regarded defensive end recruit from Las Vegas, told the Las Vegas Sun he will likely make his decision in May.

And yes, Nebraska seems very much in the hunt after Grimble's visit to Lincoln for the spring game.

"(Nebraska) was big time, a real nice program," Jerry Grimble, Jalen's father, told the Sun. "He didn't want to go there at first because we can't visit them all. But he ended up really liking it."

Jalen compared Nebraska to a pro team the way people support the program.

"It's hard for most teams to get 77,000 at one game," Jalen said. "They have had more than 300 consecutive sellouts, and a lot of schools can't sell out one game."

Jalen Grimble has 23 scholarship offers and will attend the May 1 USC spring game. His cousin signed with USC in February.

What do you think about this one recruitniks?

He would be a huge catch!!! This recruiting class is looking and sounding like it could be special.

For some reason I see this kid being more of a primadona than most of our recruits so far. I hope I'm wrong but I see him drinking the USC kool-aid more than ours. But if you ask me, Trojan kool-aid sounds really really wrong! GBR!

And Bam, for all of our founding fathers!

Jalen's pick for the Huskers would probably be his best bet for a team playing for a NC. It would be great to have Jalen become a Husker!!

Yes, and I bet you it'd be better for him learning under our coaching than the old Switch and Bait Traitor Lane Kiffin. Who's singing Rocky Top all night long now Kiffin?

Easy to read in between the lines...Nebraska was "nice" but he will be a USC guy at the end of the day. No one wants something "nice". He didn't even want to visit. Anyway, good try by the staff.

"Nice"...screw him.

Bye, bye Nebraska, Bye, bye NFL, Cousin!

Being from Vegas.. bet he will probably like the SC action better.. if he wants to be on a team.. then NU

Posted by: husker4ever on April 22, 2010 1:27PM CST
Some of you are crazy, this kid has had nothing but good things to say about our program and is seriously looking at coming to play for NU and here some of you are telling him to screw off and write him in for USC. Some NU fans are crazy as hell. Sorry but I hope this kid commits and then you all can eat your words.

Pete Carrol was a good coach at USC. Not gunna take that away form him... but I think ever since he left USC has lost its edge on all other teams.

USC is a program on the fall with Kiffin as the HC. Nebraska is a program on the rise. I would bet my life savings that Nebraska wins it's next National Championship before USC wins its next one.

We would love to see you in Red Jalen! Forget these clowns posting nonsense here. Husker Nation needs DE talent, bring it!!

It would seem to me the kid's choice will reflect where his mindset is at. If he's thinking glitz and glamor - USC. If he's thinking football as a DE, he would be out of his mind to pass up working for a defensive guru like Pelini. Of course, those are just two of the schools mentioned, we lost our last defensive prize to UCLA.

GO BIG SUH! Enjoy your well-earned night buddy!

We need to shed this inferiority complex that we have about USC. They are just another college team, and one that just lost it's star coach at that. We are headed to the top and definitely in their league.

Sure on paper, USC might seem more likely for this kid. But you never know what is in a kid's heart. At the end of the day, NU might feel to him like the best choice. So don't assume anything.

Anybody ever been to USC's campus? Let's just say that South Central ain't the Vegas strip. LA city sucks gas. You can have it. I'll take the fresh air and loyal fans in Lincoln.. Sign up Jalen. You'll be a STAR at NU.

Build a field and they will come?

Whoops, FB, have a program, over 300 consecutive sellouts, Memorial Stadium and tunnel walk, 3rd largest city on gameday in NE, learned that one from the man, PT? And a stellar D was born again, past season?

D1, leader in academic All Americans, phooey on the research university, thinking or not? Facts are facts?

So, it takes more than a field in D1 FB, but the Huskers have "THE RIGHT STUFF!" So not a problem? Couple that, with currently at AD, the greatest man, in modern college FB, TO, no not, in what Huskers did in Iowa State game? But in the MAN!

GBR! Zhou Da Hong! GB 12! Zhou Da Shier!

TommyOC, good seeing you on the blog?

TommyOC, NU in Lincoln, is a great campus, and you're right about USC's? UCLA, is the better campus and location in LA, in my opinion?

Now, if you want to see a campus, with ocean front property, and the spectacular views, come and visit us here, in HK? This is real "Parrot Head" country and lifestyle here, love it?

If Lane Kiffin has half the football smarts and dedication as his old man, you Kiffin bashers are going to look damn silly. What do you know about it anyway except that he stiffed Rocky Head? ( or is it rocky flop, or stop, or whatever) It is of zero significance in Nebraska!

Posted by: colter on April 22, 2010 5:46PM CST
the bad thing with recruiting against the Kiffin's is that they know our downfalls and they will tell them those things and the kids will believe them because they have been here, done that.

....and then I found 5 bucks!

He is a stud. If he picks us, it will be for all the right reasons.

If Bo likes him, good enough for me.

Bo knows....shoot, Eric Martin was a overlooked 3 star that was lightly recruited. Bo saw something he liked that P Carroll and many others missed. Bo knows talent, period.

Yes, we want him.

Jalen's more likely to read comments in his local newspaper (Las Vegas Sun) than here, so why not go to that link (in body of this story) and comment there? I just did.
