Four Huskers headed to combine
Posted by: Steve Sipple on January 12, 2010 at 4:08PM CST

Larry Asante, Phillip Dillard, Jacob Hickman and Ndamukong Suh have been invited to the NFL combine in February, according to an early list put out by SportingNews.com.

The preliminary list does not include juniors and other players who might be invited late to the festivities, which will begin Feb. 24 in Indianapolis.

I'm surprised Barry Turner didn't make the early list, although maybe he'll receive a late invite. Matt O'Hanlon would seem a candidate to land a late invite as well.

Here's the Big 12 players on the early combine invitee list, according to SportingNews.com:

Baylor: WR David Gettis, C J.D. Walton.

Colorado: TE Riar Geer.

Iowa State: None.

Kansas: WR Kerry Meier, S Darrell Stuckey.

Kansas State: WR Brandon Banks, TE Jeron Mastrud.

Missouri: WR Danario Alexander, G Kurtis Gregory, WR Jared Perry, LB Sean Weatherspoon.

Nebraska: Asante, Dillard, Hickman, Suh.

Oklahoma: RB Chris Brown, TE Brody Eldridge, TE Jermaine Gresham, CB Brian Jackson, T Trent Williams.

Oklahoma State: CB Perrish Cox, T Russell Okung, QB Zac Robinson, RB Keith Toston.

Texas: DT Lamarr Houston, DE Sergio Kindle, QB Colt McCoy, LB Roddrick Muckelroy, WR Jordan Shipley, OT Adam Ulatoski.

Texas A&M: None.

Texas Tech: G Brandon Carter, DB Jamar Wall.

Will Colt's arm be healed so he can compete?

Miss Busie you getting your "Bam" on?

Yes sir, oh, the travails of retirement. Gotta run, errands await. Latrz

Posted by: RobotMonster on January 12, 2010 4:32PM CST
i was surprised to see O'Hanlon wasn't on the invite list

Posted by: GBR001 on January 12, 2010 4:37PM CST
Why Sam Bradford is not on list ? He is one of the projected top pick as per many list. Something is wrong.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on January 12, 2010 4:42PM CST
Some names will be added later I am sure, so O'Hanlon may get the call. I read where the Trainer for Texas said that McCoy's arm is now almost 100%, so I think he is good to go.

Posted by: Trashman on January 12, 2010 4:48PM CST
McCoy is a romantic if you saw how he proposed to his girlfriend. Of course, he should of been with her looks....

Posted by: Skers4Life on January 12, 2010 4:50PM CST
bradford is still a junior, this is the list of seniors that have been invited, juniors will be invited later.

Posted by: Low Country Husker on January 12, 2010 4:53PM CST
Trash

makes you wonder if he had a plan to do that at the NC game and his moment was ruined....good for him.....

Posted by: From The General on January 12, 2010 4:55PM CST
Matt O'Hanlon will be the next Jim Leonard.

Posted by: Trashman on January 12, 2010 4:58PM CST

That woulda been tacky. BCS game marriage proposals got owned by the Boise dude. That would be copyright infringement.

I bet that lil' squirrel would of though.

Posted by: Low Country Husker on January 12, 2010 5:07PM CST
yep why else would he take her to an empty stadium and propose....might as well ask her outside the Town and Country like the rest of the Texan's do........

Posted by: joe t on January 12, 2010 5:10PM CST
Matt O'Hanlon will never play in the NFL. He is this year's Joe Ganz among fan fantasies.

Posted by: GBR001 on January 12, 2010 5:17PM CST
Skers4Life : Thanks for your information. I totally ignored that this list is for seniors.

Posted by: GBR001 on January 12, 2010 5:20PM CST
I hope Matt will play or else he need to find coaching job.

Meth, BiPolar, unable to handle his whiskey, just an a$*hole, all valid reasons.... your guess is as good as mind.

Yeah, some posters are way up and down in there posts, almost have a Bi-Polor personality.

Posted by: Bumarooskie on January 12, 2010 7:10PM CST
Wonder if Todd Reesing will get an invite.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on January 12, 2010 7:11PM CST
Low, we were thinking alike there. You know what they say about great minds? Last fall we had a poster that just went off on everybody, even called me out, Step and I kind of thought he was on a drinking binge.

Posted by: PT Husker on January 12, 2010 7:13PM CST
IH, another 50 degree day today. another on tap tomorrow. Not bad.

Posted by: Low Country Husker on January 12, 2010 7:13PM CST
Islander

I remember that, how are you doing? has your snow melted yet?

Posted by: Islander/Husker on January 12, 2010 7:14PM CST
Buma, I think probably most NFL scouts consider Reesing's height a problem, I think he is only 5' 11"

Posted by: Bumarooskie on January 12, 2010 7:15PM CST
Island/Husker. Probably the case. From what I've read 5' 11" is optimistic.

Posted by: bruNo on January 12, 2010 7:17PM CST
News Flash: Todd Reesing just got invited to try out--for waterboy.

Really can't see any position he could make it as in the pros, just like Chase Booger Boy.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on January 12, 2010 7:19PM CST
Pt - don't rub it in about the balmy 50 degrees. Only got about 36 here today.

Low, I do wish the snow was gone, but sadly it's not and it will be quite sometime before it is. Of course, there is a good chance we will get more snow down the road. February and March can be good snow months. I am tired of winter already, and don't like it much in the first place.

Posted by: Low Country Husker on January 12, 2010 7:23PM CST
It reached 50 degrees here today, everyone wearing jackets still......I'm sure you all were washing cars and hanging clothes out to dry up there LOL.

Posted by: bruNo on January 12, 2010 7:23PM CST
I don't think Barry Turner has ever really fully recovered from, what was is, knee injury? Just doesn't have the same burst off the edge and domineering presence he had early on @ NU.

Rub a dub dub. No snow in my tub.

sorry IH, I could not resist. we got ours in October.

On the other hand, BT was a starting DE for the #1 college D in the country, so you'd think he'd have something to offer the pros.

Posted by: bruNo on January 12, 2010 7:39PM CST
ha ha, thought that would get your attention. Anyhoo, this from Ivan Maisel's "Best and Worst form The Bowls":

Worst Delivery
The Holiday Bowl promised the resumption of a friendly decades-old rivalry at Cardinal Mooney High in Youngstown, Ohio, between the Stoops family and the Pelini family. It didn't turn out to be much of a rivalry at all. Bo Pelini's Nebraska Cornhuskers crushed Mike Stoops' Arizona Wildcats 33-0. Nebraska limited Arizona to 109 total yards and six first downs.

When the coaches met on the field after the game, a smiling Stoops wrapped his arm around Pelini's neck as if he were happy for his friend. It was a nice, warm moment as opposed to perfunctory handshakes or glancing slaps we see after some blowouts. But Stoops remarked afterward how "humbling" football can be.

The "DOG" is sure li'l Icky Nuweasel (ucla) is pissing in his pants he's SO happy Petey is leaving & taking his show to the NW! Wonder what's the reaction up there as Petey C.'s NFL resume is so - so. Could be another Spurrier or Nickie "dollars" Saban. Somehow seeing Monte Kiffin (ex NU player & coach) @ U.niversity of S.poiled C.hildren doesn't fit! He's not quite LA LA land or Rodeo Dr! Now Dr. "hollywood" Watson - thats a fit. Is Lane Kif. liked in Vol land & interesting what the reaction would be if he left so quickly.

Some coaches are really in this for the business side of things. 10 years ago, the job at Tennessee was better than USC. Now its a 180.
You go where its better.

Fortunately Bo has the best coaching spot in all of College Football. He ain't going no where for a long time. Thank goodness too.

Bruno, I don't think so. Bo loves to teach and I think he gets more enjoyment out of it all at the collegiate level.

I also think he wouldn't leave for the NFL, because of his family.

Also, he looks at other coaches who go to the NFL, and he knows that its not always a good idea.

Bo, is here to stay. I say he wins at least 250 games like TO before he's done at Nebraska.

How are you? I hope this finds you in good health and spirts. Haven't been able to join in since the Holiday Bowl week. Work, work, work. Talked the wife into going to San Diego and it friggin rains. Gag. Watched the game until Paul's long score then headed to the bar with all the Arizona fans.

Broncos losing at home to Raiders and Chiefs really ruined my NFL interest this year. Good thing the Huskers finished strong. Amazing what that does to one's psyche. I'm savoring this year and itching for next season already.

Islander, that dude you was talking about that went all ballistic on you on the old blog and said he was never coming back blah blah blah because we all were terrible fans blah blah blah.

Well that was Big Red Glory's old id on the old blog. I forget what it was now, but as soon as BRG started posting here I knew it was that same dude. He got testy when I mentioned it too, didn't like the fact I spotted it right off.

Dang wish I could remember his old id name, you'd have an uhuh moment.

And FTR, I think the hammer will come down on USC for Reggie Bu$h incident late this year. He lost his appeal to keep an arbitration hearing private, and will have to go to court on his accusing the supposed agent who paid him 291,000 in benefits. He WILL get subpoena'd, and be forced to testify under oath. That should sink his ship full of sealed lip friends.

I think Muschamp would take a look too. One, Head coaches earn more money, Two, he was an SEC guy from the start. It is the most prestigious conference in CFB, he would be making a mistake if he didn't at least listen to their musings and offerings.

Inbread...:), lol. I should have listed a bunch of people. That might have been funny.

Missed my chance.

Wrestler,
I think that I am pretty busy but I can't tell because I hardly have a chance to stop to think about it. Allmost ALL of any free time that I have is spent on here. It's relaxing in some sort of way.

...Yes, I saw your thesis/dissertation on the subject. Wow! I was seriously thinking that a couple of sentences would be great. You knocked it out of the ball park.

Your progress has been awesome. I will never come close to what you do. Maybe my kids could get halfway there...that would be pretty good.

Thank you very much for taking the time to give me such good information. I told my oldest that we are working out together starting now.
