Coaches move NU to No. 23
Posted by: Steve Sipple on November 22, 2009 at 12:40PM CST

Nebraska moves up two spots to No. 23 in the USA Today coaches' Top 25, but remains outside the AP poll (the Huskers are the equivalent of No. 27).

Here's the coaches' poll.

Here's the AP poll.

win the next 3 games and it won't matter what the pundits think!

BAM

Posted by: Jaz on November 22, 2009 12:47PM CST
ok, folks let's look at rankings.
clemson is what like 18 and NU is barely ranked now. compare those teams and tell me why clemson is so high?
also a coach out there voted for Missouri?
the AP poll is rediculous with NU not ranked.

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on November 22, 2009 12:53PM CST
Who cares what we are ranked?

Posted by: Low Country Husker on November 22, 2009 12:55PM CST
Step

Tell me about the possible verbal committment from last night....I didn't recall the name.

Posted by: Ehusker on November 22, 2009 1:01PM CST
I am not surprised by not being ranked in the AP poll. We won close games against mediocre opponents. The North Division is below average at best and not winning with the defense that we have, would have been a step backward. By the way, we still have to play the Buffs that are as dangerous as every opponent we have faced.

Oklahoma is no longer the team of the past. At least not this year. A blow-out in Lubbock says it all. So we beat a spiraling-down and deflated team. Good for us but not a good indication of our progress over all. Offense still cannot move the ball and make needed convincing points against a so-so defenses.

By playing for the Big 12 against Texas, will give us the answer to why we are not ranked And we will find out how far we have to go as a the program.

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on November 22, 2009 1:01PM CST
Whaaaaat?!?!?! We aren't ranked in the AP?!?!!?

Now I care where we are ranked.

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on November 22, 2009 1:06PM CST
It's just a rumor. Nothing concrete. But they say OT Joe Burgess committed. He's from Missouri. Lightly recruited.

Posted by: RedDog77 on November 22, 2009 1:08PM CST
Stepn Razor, who was the Mack guy you mentioned in the previous thread?

Posted by: Huskerville_50 on November 22, 2009 1:08PM CST
I don't quite understand how a 8-3 Nebraska team isn't ranked in the top 25.. but like others have said who cares right now... If we take care of Colorado and go beat Texas we'll in the fiesta bowl with a 12-15 ranking... So we have the opportunity to take care of these rankings ourselves...

We always seem to play Texas real well and they have no running game so Nebraska can rush four, hope that we get pressure and drop 7 in coverage... I think its key for the offense to keep doing what they are doing except do a better job of finishing off drives... Another key to the game will be Alex Henery's leg, both on field goals, PAT's, and punts....

But first an always dangerous Colorado team is up next and I'm sure that is who our guys are worried about right now..

Posted by: huskers4_eva on November 22, 2009 1:10PM CST
ehusker, that is an okay point. But if you look at the oklahoma texas game it was a pretty hard fought close game. Now isn't texas a pretty good team. It just wasn't Oklahoma's year but they're still a pretty good team. Now Oklahoma might finish with 7 wins with a win at Okie St. but even if they don't, I for one wouldn't want to be that team who has to play the 7 or 6 win team oklahoma in a bowl game. Would you.

Posted by: Jaz on November 22, 2009 1:11PM CST
I am not worried about NU and their ranking as much as I think people determined someone as a legitimate voter.
Now with thier votes they vote teams like Temple, Clemson (highly), Missouri.

Posted by: Huskerville_50 on November 22, 2009 1:12PM CST
If that burgess kid did commit that takes up a spot that could be filled by OO, Cooper, or Hill

Posted by: Boonies on November 22, 2009 1:14PM CST
Ehusker...I'm sure the pitchforks and torches are being grabbed as we speak, but IMO you're spot on in your assessment.

The offense is still a mess and the only team we played with a standout offense blew us out. The good news is Bo also knows this...

When he says we have a long way to go, he's not speaking coachspeak at all. He's telling the absolute truth and we need to believe it.

That's not saying we're being negative. It only says he (and the fans who really care) have high expectations. Those expectations will not be met overnight, but we're all here to support the effort and the baby-step improvements.

It's coming and I'm glad we're here for the ride. Years of success made me somewhat complacent with excellence, but from now on I will really treasure the hard work it's taking to get us back on top!

Posted by: Huskerville_50 on November 22, 2009 1:14PM CST
Nebraska is still being punished in the polls because of the Iowa St. game.... We need to finish drives on offense.. we leave alot of points on the field... Last night we could have won that game 30-3 easily.....

And before anyone brings it to my attention I am aware that Kstate missed a couple field goals and fumbled at the 1...

Posted by: throw46 on November 22, 2009 1:18PM CST
Get the offense going and Texas will be a contest.

Posted by: huskerfever on November 22, 2009 1:18PM CST
I dont care what any of you say, but im pretty sure every last one of you deeply cares about what ranking we are. I for one care dearly! And i was sure we would be atleast #24 but hey what can you do? I figure even with a loss to Texas and a win over Colorado and whoever we play in the bowl game we should finnish top 25 for sure.

Posted by: Huskerville_50 on November 22, 2009 1:18PM CST
The offense has been making some strides these last couple weeks... If we stick to what we are doing on offense I think we'll be able to take care of CU and give Texas more then they want... Keep the TE's involved and give the ball to Helu...

Is it just me or does Helu rise to the challenge in big games?

Hopefully that holds true against Texas..

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 1:20PM CST
Coaches like us some, writers don't. Maybe next week.

Standford is sort of getting the shaft though, but they shouldn't have lost yesterday(most exciting game of the day, BTW). They are now 7-4.

Posted by: throw46 on November 22, 2009 1:20PM CST
Huskerville......Those 3 & outs look the same to me. The strides
are not committing stupid penalties are down.

Posted by: BlackshirtBeado on November 22, 2009 1:21PM CST
The AP poll actually has no count on the computers. It doesn't get to decide the National champion(crystal ball, coaches poll) And has proven it is generally irrelevent

It's full of washed up, and or wanna be athletes that need to live vicariously through college kids.

Worthless pundits

Posted by: Busiekcreek on November 22, 2009 1:25PM CST
I am still alive though fighting the urge to go out and buy a suitcase (grip) for a certain coach's farewell trip. I may settle for tar and feathers, we are not happy is putting it mildly.

I did so enjoy the game last night. Everybody here is talking about Suh and now Crick. Lee played a lot better. Go Big XII North Champs.
Go Big Red
Geaux LSU

Posted by: Boonies on November 22, 2009 1:29PM CST
I hear ya, Busie...I mean a kid makes a mistake and you understand...he's a kid. But a HC and a whole staff who doesn't know if a TO has been called in the most crucial part of the game really makes ya wanna scream. I feel so bad for the kids who made such a great effort on the comeback!

Posted by: Ehusker on November 22, 2009 1:31PM CST
huskers4_eva, I understand your point. But if you look at Texas wins after the Oklahoma game, you will realize that they improved a lot since then and were able to put big numbers on their next 5 opponents and not allowing a whole lot of points. It is a steady convincing progress for Texas, for us it is not so much. We are making baby-steps as somebody mentioned here in the blog.

Posted by: Huskerville_50 on November 22, 2009 1:31PM CST
throw46.....

By no means am I saying we have a good offense, I'm just saying they have looked alot better the past two weeks compared to the TTU/ISU/OU games...

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 1:32PM CST
Busie,
are you referring to Les(alias Steve Martin) Miles there?

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on November 22, 2009 1:33PM CST
Jon Mack... CB out of Cali was supposed to be visiting.

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 1:34PM CST
Guess I thought the AP IS the poll that matters, hmmm, ok...

Posted by: RedDog77 on November 22, 2009 1:35PM CST
Thanks Razor

Posted by: Busiekcreek on November 22, 2009 1:42PM CST
Well I'm certainly not talking about Coach Pelini!!!!!

I live just a few miles from the Mississippi border and even the mayor of our town is an Ole Miss grad. We will have to hear the jokes about how long does it take LSU to call a time out for a year. The message boards are raging-calling for scalps for HC and OC. Let me shut up. This is a Husker board and I am so proud of them. I am also proud of my purple/gold boys for the way they fought back. It's gonna take me a while to ever get over this. At least there is some sanity in Lincoln.

Posted by: UKHusker1 on November 22, 2009 1:46PM CST
BB,

How 'bout the rest of us old, washed-up ex-athletes who have to live vicariously through the actions of a bunch of college kids?.. :)

The next 2 games are going to be interesting. CU always plays our Huskers tough. The guys are going to have to put a complete game together to insure victory in Boulder.

UT is a very, very good team, but I don't think they are invulnerable. The Blackshirts will slow them down. The big problem is that the offense is going to have to score at least 3 TD's to win that game, in my opinon.

I just hope the buffs and horns are taking us a lightly as the AP voters.

GBR!!!

USA Today Poll
RK TEAM RECORD PTS
1 Florida (47) 11-0
2 Texas (4) 11-0
3 Alabama (8) 11-0
4 TCU 11-0
5 Cincinnati 10-0
6 Boise State 11-0
7 Georgia Tech 10-1
8 Ohio State 10-2
9 Pittsburgh 9-1
10 Oregon 9-2
11 Penn State 10-2
12 Oklahoma State 9-2
13 Iowa 10-2
14 Virginia Tech 8-3
15 Brigham Young 9-2
16 Clemson 8-3
17 LSU 8-3
18 Oregon State 8-3
19 Utah 9-2
20 Houston 9-2
21 Miami (FL) 8-3
22 USC 7-3
23 Nebraska 8-3
24 North Carolina 8-3
25 Mississippi 8-3

Miami, UNC, Utah(?!), BYU, Clemson, OR St., and probably USC are teams with similar records toe Big Red that I couldn't say are better than us.

I also think Boise and Cinci are grossly overrated as they play in cupcake conferences.
The Stanford situation is the most puzzleng to me though: they go from 14 to outski. USC still remains after a bye week, and OR up. Guess it doesn't matter that Stanford demolished those 2 teams recently, their early losses are killing them, though they are at 7-4 right now.

Posted by: Doc_Husker on November 22, 2009 1:52PM CST
I think a lot of people just need to accept who and what this team is. We will never go out and hang 50+ on someone. I believe we wouldn't even if we could. We have a championship defense and our coaching staff knows how to use it.

There isn't any reason to be risky on offense. We play conservative with a lead the results are closer games than some people like.

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 1:57PM CST
I think Ol' Miss has a better, more mature team than LSU this year, though Tigs have the better overall raw talent. Snead is a veteran and excellent QB whereas as Jordan or their other guy are 'green'. Plus McCluster for Ol Miss is just ridiculous. And I would probably predict Nutt to outcoach Les(Steve) anyday of the weak, though I wouldn't say the latter is a bad coach by any stretch.

LSU is young, like the Skers, so I would, if asked though I havent been, recommend that Tig Fan take a chill pill. Next year they should be a force.

Posted by: Busiekcreek on November 22, 2009 2:01PM CST
Bruno, you know I love the "burners" and speed. That McCluster was a sight to watch. "He got the moves"

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 2:03PM CST
LOL, just noticed that Ol Miss is ranked below LSU--with the same record! Such is the 'logic' of the polls.

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 22, 2009 2:03PM CST
Busie.
good to see you survied yesterday.

Posted by: Busiekcreek on November 22, 2009 2:06PM CST
My grandson is over visiting and is watching the Saints. I just hope they have DirecTV in the gloryland. My dear old Daddy rooted for them so many years and they never did anything. I quit about 15 years ago. Wish they would pack up and go to San Antonio. Our poor little state could surely use the money they pump into Benson's pocket.

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 2:06PM CST
McCluster nearly had 300 rushing yds last week, had about 340+ ttl yards, the guy is redunkulus.

Posted by: RedDog77 on November 22, 2009 2:07PM CST
Watched the game again earlier this morning. I am about ready to say that I'd like to ditch the spread option all together. Without an exceptional run by Helu,it has almost become an automatic TFL for the defense

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 2:10PM CST
Saints are friggin the team to beat this year in the NFC. Scott Shanle and Carl Nicks, former skers, or on that team. I like 'em.

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 22, 2009 2:11PM CST
Anyone know how many yard Helu has for the season?
Wonder if he will be first team Big 12.
Should be a few guys from the defenes, of course Suh, duh.
I wonder if Henry has a shot at All American. Punter or Kicker, then again not kicking off might hurt his chances as a kicker.
Thoughts?

Speaking of ratings and such, the Frost/Davison hookup vs Mizzou, '97 is the #9 all time best play on ESPN's Buffalo Wings thing.

3 other NE plays have been noted: Frazier's run in the '95 Fiesta, Steins Fumblerooski in the Orange way back vs Miami, and OZ's attempt at 2 in that same game(?). The latter being Miami's play I guess.

Rodgers TD vs OU, game of cent., should be high on the list, I dont think it's come up yet.

Posted by: drivebyposter on November 22, 2009 2:16PM CST
coaches never watch the games. they just guess.

sheesh the wagondrivers suck and they started #3

Thought you was buying at Denny's with all the coin you won yesterday?

I rather go to the Crackerbarrel

Posted by: Albino on November 22, 2009 2:19PM CST
Doc,

Your diagnosis is pretty good and certainly concise. I'm one who finds the results closer than I would like.

A little more cushion would take some pressure off the defense, and preserve the win in competitive games. But perhaps, as Viking says, we just can't muster a cushion at this point?

GBR

thats when the wagon drivers still had Bradford, Gresham and a few other uninjured OL guys in the line up.

BruNo,
I don't remember I will have to defer that answer to the local Cajun. All I remember was the gravy and sweet tea. Oh yeah I asked the waitress what kind of products she used in her hair, she replied with “What’s product, I use Crisco same stuff that’s in your gravy. How you doing?”

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 2:43PM CST
Not sure Busie will follow thru unless CB has crawdads, at least as an appetizer.

except for the fact that winona ryder is hot, a woman, a movie starlette--is hot--and probably has no interest in football--let alone kicking a football-- yea, I can see the comparison to Henery.

and she's hot.

I had heard that Henery had a propensity towards womans close, I once thought I saw him coming out of Victorias Secret, but it could have been Winona

GF prefers The Original Pancake House, I’m not a fan. They opened one up on near where I live. We went they charge 11 bucks for 4 pieces of bacon. I ordered a side order, didn’t catch it but GF son ordered a side order as well, that’s 22 bucks for eight pieces of bacon. When the waitress came back I told her to call 911 because I had just been robed.

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 2:59PM CST
that musta been the slim jim infused bacon...

I hear they once tried to get Henery lined up as a receiver because of his overall athletic prowess. They told him he would be running a 'drag' route, next thing ya know he shows up in the huddle wearing a red feather boa...

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 22, 2009 3:04PM CST
Naw it was Canadian, smoked, peppered bacon, everyone knows Canadians don’t smoke, duh!

Now who was shoplifting at Victorias Secret, Henry or Winona?

BruNo,
Your sick, I thought you was going to say Henry lined up as a TE.

Posted by: earniechambers on November 22, 2009 3:07PM CST
Yeah Lee changed the play at the line to a hooker and go, but it was 3rd and long so they ended up running the option

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 3:08PM CST
yea, the drag route was from the tight end position, thanks for reminded me...

Likely Scenario's for the remainder of the season:

All scenario's assume Nebraska beats CU.

1) We beat Texas and head to the Fiesta Bowl to play TCU or Boise State.

2) We lose to Texas and stay in Dallas for the Cotton Bowl and a date with LSU. A matchup between Miles and Pelini would be good for TV, and a great game.

3) We lose to Texas and head to San Diego for a date with USC. Nothing like kicking a dog while it is down...eh Suh?

Either way, the end of this season will be really exciting, as long as we beat CU.

Obviously, the last time the corn was ranked, we lost.

Pretty much the same result as every other team that as what happened the last time they were ranked.

Neb over CU by 8...Based on history, I would take CU and the points.

Senior day for them...nothing "technically" on the line for us....

They always play us close, but we have their number like Texas has ours.

Good luck to the farmers this Friday.

Do us all a favor quit betting on the Huskers to lose (or not cover) and learn to enjoy the game for what it's meant for instead of using them as your own personal financial gain. If you must bet on them then jump up and down in private and quit posting about it....it's starting to show a character flaw you shouldn't be proud of.

DBP,

So, now that all prior games are completed, are you ready to give us your spread on the NU/CU clash? Just curious.

Yea, I wanted to congratulate ALL Husker 'fans' that took KSU and the points yesterday for your winnings and thank you personally for your half support of the Huskers, I mean, you had to be rooting for KSU at least half the time, right?

You can also feel proud that more or less volunteer athletes were the ultimate source of your 'earnings'!

again, well done!

Sorry I've been out for a while. Father in law passed away. Salt of the earth Nebraska farmer.

You've got to love what Lee said about Henery's pin point punting: "It's like using a pitching wedge and hitting a golf ball, it's just ridiculous".

Records against Big 12 North Opponents in the worst decade of Nebraska football since the 1950's...

CU - 5-4
Mizzou - 6-4
Kansas - 8-2
Iowa State - 7-3
Kansas State - 6-4 (While starting the decade 4-1 against Nebraska - BWAH KITTIES!)

In our darkest hour, there is not a team in our division that has beat us more than we have beat them. If we beat CU, each of them will have a losing record against us this decade. If we lose to CU, the best they can achieve is a "even keel".

Nebraska fans are truly blessed when you look at it this way. If this is as bad as it gets, we have nothing to complain about!!!

Please don't take it I was actually bagging on LOW but he didn’t catch it. Low living in a Carolina which everyone. I was trying make conversation with the simple fella by asking him if they have a Cracker Barrel or not.
I love the folks from the South, I should I live with one. G has taught everything I wanted to know and then some about fishing and bait, yep, using crawdads. Her favorite is her secret recipe for making stick bait. Now that stuff works, stinks and dosent taste very good.

Posted by: drivebyposter on November 22, 2009 4:43PM CST
actually tad, a decade starts in year 1 not year 0 as you suggest. Just like this millenium started in 2001, not 2000.

so your numbers are not quite correct if you meant to discuss decade, but would be correct if you discussed the last 9 years.

Thanks, bruNo. The hardest part is my wife is staying with her mother for a couple of days while I came back to Lincoln with our son so he could go to the game yesterday. I hate being away from my wife. Oddly, we argue more often when we are away from each other. We get along great when we are together. Guess maybe we both hate the situation about being away from each other, but texting and talking often in her time of need right now makes the distance melt away.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on November 22, 2009 4:44PM CST
I never bet on games. To me, people who bet on games have divided loyalties. They are more concerned with covering their bets. TO made a comment when he was the HC, that a fan was real upset that he added a field goal late in the game that cost him big bucks. Never mind that we won the game.

Posted by: drivebyposter on November 22, 2009 4:47PM CST
I don't know what all the teams are in this decade, but i believe the buffalo are 4 and 4, with two game to go this decade

Friday is a swing game.

Not sure, low who I will bet on but it will not interfere with my rooting.

She was in a office pool and took 2nd place one about 200 bucks. It was my fault she didn't get first, she's a Steerls fan and it was Rosseingburger rookie year kept trying to convince her a rookie is not a safe beat. Anyway she decided to start betting paraly cards the next years
First time she goes 9 for 9 and won a bunch of money.
I visit her under the North Street bridge every now and then. Shes still beating whenever she gets a dime or two.

I'm another one that doesn't gamble, at least in part because I don't want mixed emotions. I've never figured out why someone doesn't invite wagers on a W/L basis, and adjust the payout accordingly. To me, taking a position on three over the a win, or six under a loss, is just a boring distraction.

Albino))) You can bet odds in stead of the spread.

Like say... you can bet on Nebraska to win next week Vs CU... without a point spread. You can just take Nebraska for the win if you like.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on November 22, 2009 5:31PM CST
Step - I had a friend, who also loved to gamble. His problem was that he loved it to much, did not know when to quit. He lost complete paychecks, encountered huge gambling debts, stole and lied to cover his behind. Ended up losing his wife, lost his job. Ended up spending sometime in jail. I believe there was a QB, Schlecter? Who's gambiling cost him big time, and even his family did not trust him. I know not everybody who gambles a lot has a problem. But I have seen how it can destroy lives as well.

Sure I might buy a powerball ticket every once in awhile. Maybe $2 bucks a month at most. But that's it. I don't go to Casinos, or bet on games, etc. It just does not have any lure for me, does not excite me. Because more times than not you are going to lose.

Albino,
You can just beat on wins or loses they call it betting the money line I think. I know hou can just bet on who to win, but it dosent pay as much. If they didn't have a spread on the game their wouldnt be any conspiracy theories of coaches players and refs taking dive.
Now some of the prop bets before the Super Bowl can be intersting.
If Booger eater ever makes it to the SB I'm sure there would be a prop bet on him, when or if he eats a booger.

Thats not all there would be prop bets on what quarter booger would it his booger and how many. If he would wipe his finger on his pants or jersey. It's endless.

I like the hit Dillard put on he Kst QB. That was lights out.

People crawling on the floor at the casino... pounding their fists on the ground. And you know what I was thinking? Whatta bunch of dipchits!

You can't gamble with money you don't have to lose. Period. There's nothing else to be said. If somebody doesn't understand that... they certainly should not be gambling.

Here's a line from one of my fav songs.

Gambling is for fools.

Daily life requires one to gamble. Given the outcome of my daily gambles, I have been repeatedly taught not to jeopardize my money doing the same on sporting events.

Hey, can CU follow up on what apparently was a pretty good effort vs. OSU and give NU a game? They have extra time to prepare since they played Thursday, and NU has less time because of Thanksgiving and it being a Friday game. CU is going nowhere, and a victory against NU would atone for a lot. I am somewhat apprehensive.

Needless to say 2000-2010 may go down as the darkest period in modern college football for the Huskers. The fact the sell streak stayed intact is amazing. When the sellout streak started Memorial stadium didn’t seat 76,000 now over 80,000. That’s says lot for Huskers fans.

When the Sooner went through their losing period before Stoops they didn’t sell out. I would be willing to bet if they have another season like this one their will be a lot more empty seats in Sooner land.

IH: While I've got nothing against Pelini for his comments on his wife, etc.--to the contrary, I too thought they were just fine--but that question is a perfect illustration of why so many coaches seem to have a hard time with reporters who are so clueless or ignorant that they ask questions like that. How is one's regard for his family pertinent; one would have thought that inquiring minds would want to get insight into the game.

Posted by: no nothing on November 22, 2009 6:13PM CST
Step. That is a tough one. I guess it would be for the same reasons one would like one team over another or one recruit over another. It sure isn't because of a love for Chevy, Ford, Dodge, or Toyota. Those are all the same cars with just different decals letting some fans know that they drive for so and so. Those cars all have the same engines for the most part too. All have the same options and the same tires. The same everything. That is another problem with NASCAR today. Actually is a joke and I don't know why I even watch it any more. If you look in the stands, there are a lot of others that no longer watch it for the same reasons I just mentioned.

Having said all of that, the Daytona 500 is less than three months away.

I'll whine....

I don't like the under center single back set with four TE's all that much.

But it's a work in progress and did produce one TD by Helu that was nicely blocked.

I guess it balances the line out and doesn't have a strong side and gives you some receiver options, still don't like it much though. I much prefer having a strong side with a FB lead blocking.

I'll have to see where Wats goes with that formation in the future I guess, it has some potential for setting many things up off of I suppose.

At least he threw to the FB on a playaction finally....baby steps.

He's experimenting a little it seems to me in live game situations to get a feel for how his guys will execute certain looks, so I guess I'll be patient and let it unfold as it develops.

He best get it pretty much figured out by mid season next yr and have some sort of indentity of what we are and what we are going to do on O.

Kinda tired of seeing something base wise just a few snaps in a game and then never building upon it at all.

Only running out of the I less than 15 snaps or so is just goofy to me and never gets you to the point of truly taking advantage of setting up a D for other looks out of the same look.

Goofy, Helter Skelter game planning is what I see....some kind of weird stare down match seeing who will blink first.

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 8:36PM CST
I'll never be satisfied watching a meek near lifeless Nebraska Offense.

Getting rather tired of watching weakness and meakness, but I'll be patient and let the transformation process take it's course.

If Wats keeps straying from the path and not using the I formation more I'm going to btch though, the goofball.

No script and adblock plus.

adblock plus, you just download their definition script of sites to block if ya want and tweak it as you go or do nothing...enable it disable it any time you want.

no script is more user involved and tweakable.

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 8:56PM CST
But I also use a free program that does things deeper than even antivirus at the rootkit level to protect against adware and trojans or anything trying to run as a process or exec that I haven't given permission to run.

Sounds complicated but it's not, a few seconds here n there to mange, but less hassle than a trojan or adware sneaking on the sytsem behind the scenes.

That's called process guard. Anytime I upgrade software or install software I disable it because it catches every little install process and ask you to allow or disallow it.

Easier to install the program you are trying to install with it disabled, then only have to click allow every time once after installing a new program and running it the first time.

I haven't had adware, spyware, trojans or any problem of that nature in 5+ yrs.

I see what ads I want or none at all.

But it requires some user input along the way sometimes Bruno.

Oh strike that, I've installed some free programs not paying attention that included some adware and then gave them permissions to run not paying attention, but I've always found my mistake and got rid of the problem easily enough.

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 9:01PM CST
process guard? thats the name? I might try that, it's almost impossible to not get that adware stuff anymore, they just show up outta nowhere and its a pain...

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 22, 2009 9:03PM CST
Morning guys whats going on in here?

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 9:04PM CST
tadow,
whats 'the quarter'?

Posted by: PT Husker on November 22, 2009 9:05PM CST
The 4th quarter should be known as the Suh show. He took the game over.

Posted by: HuskerBruin on November 22, 2009 9:05PM CST
I see on Rivals that Gabbert says he's solid on his commitment now. "I'm coming to Nebraska. It's that plain and simple."

Welcome to NU, Tyler!

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 9:06PM CST
I don't want to go back an relive my "the quarter moment" but I will.

It was my freshman year and it was very heated quarters game battle between me and two blondes and a brunette....and it was my turn.

I won't give deatails but there was alot on the line on that shot and I had to go full length of the table with three bounces.

A bead of sweat made it's way down my face from my forehead down my nose and took a plunge onto the table as I lined up my shot and winked at the girls, the silence was defening.

I made that shot and the rest is history..the quarter shal not be forgotten.

Evening PT,
How was the game sounds like you had a great time?

Posted by: PT Husker on November 22, 2009 9:07PM CST
I am hoping that Spano is health next spring.

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 9:08PM CST
yea suh took over, no doubt.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 22, 2009 9:17PM CST
Nish, actually, KState O could not finish thanks to the D. That stick by Asante was huge. I, for some reason, was never in doubt that we would win. Would have liked to see our O mive thae ball a little more in the 2nd half. but I think, as usaual we were in protect mode. It seem like, If we wanted something, we got it but took very few chances. Henry was a weapon with his foot.

Kind of a wierd game, as I reflect back. But a W is a W and that is what matters. Not into style points yet.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 22, 2009 9:20PM CST
Actually, we are setting Texas up. Bo knows.

This whole "no offense" thing is all an act.

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 22, 2009 9:20PM CST
I'll take a win any day over losing with style points.
PT I haven't been to home game since the 80s how was the crowd? loud?

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 9:21PM CST
Yeah process guard Bru, get the free version it's powerful enough to do the trick.

http://www.diamondcs.com.au/processguard/download.php

Just run it in learning mode the first week or so, then uncheck learning mode after that.

The frist tiem you run it and open program, even firefox, it's going to ask you if you want to run it blah blah blah, so it requires user input...that's why I disable it if I'm installing a program or updating something.

Otherwise every little install function will be caught during the install and a popup asking you what you want to do fro every dll ect ect.

So diasble it if installing something, then after install re enable it and give permission for that exec or process to run every instance or ever time and you'll only have to do that once until you update it again.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 22, 2009 9:22PM CST
Nish, It was pretty good. Not as loud as OU, but not bad. I think we got to K State a few times.

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 9:26PM CST
k, thanks lubes..;)

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 9:27PM CST
Yeah a win is better than not winning, but it's just part of the process when it's ugly. You take it, then go back to work trying to improve and make ugly not so ugly.

No way the team or the coaches are satisfied with ugly, they want to get better and I want to see them get better.

I'll never go wow it was ugly, that's fricken great man...I want total domination and anything less is just that.

It's part of the fun for me, watching, waiting until such time it all comes together.

Please, you know I'm ecstatic with any win, but I'm a greedy bstrd when it comes to the Huskers, I want it all, domination in every phase of the game.

I like sprinkles on my cupcakes.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 22, 2009 9:27PM CST
I am gonna put this out there and Duck..

I am not sure that Green has what it takes from the mental side of things. He had a shot at Baylor and really did not impress me much. a great physical talent. Hopefully time will fix the other part.

And maybe that is Just me.

PT,
My thoughts were the reason Cody started the Baylor game was to help recruiting in TX. Look Texas kids, you to can start as a Freshman at DONU.
Cody is only a Freshman. Their are some that learning the Westcoast offense takes years. Eventually Cody will learn and understand the offense.
I'm not sure he will be the starter next year.

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 9:36PM CST
PT , there's some real good one liners in this thread ;)

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 9:36PM CST
PT, the college game just moves quite a bit faster than the HS game does, he'll be fine man.

Luckily he comes from a system where it's probably a little more advanced than most other HS systems, so he's ahead a little in that regard and why he was able to have some success so early..that and the fact he is a talent.

The more the light clicks on faster the better he will get, tons of things for his mind to manage on any one given play, but it will come more natural as time permits.

Dudes going to be a freak of a talent down the road by my guesstimation. Another spring, some O tweaking, some younger guys stepping into their roles...man it's going to be sweet is my prediction..when is the question, not if for me.

Posted by: Viking Husker on November 22, 2009 9:39PM CST
PT,
Ditto Nish's comments.

I think it was a pretty shrewd move to start Cody on the recruiting trip into Texas.

I think Lee starts next year too, and will play better.

Cody is like 18 but seems smart. I think he'll get it sooner or later. Game probably looks real fast to him now, too.

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 9:41PM CST
I don't think Zak is that far ahead of Cody in those regards either, Zak is still walking up to the center, (or not depending on the formation), looking at the D and having a ton of things run through his head about potential matchups, should I audible, what should I audible into ect ect...like I said a ton of things that run through the head pre snap, then you got to execute after the snap.

I think the after the snap execution and the pre snap execution of Cody's will eventually overtake Zaks abilities...just how I see it down the road.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 22, 2009 9:42PM CST
Nish. If Spano is healthy all year, Green could still shirt. I hope with all my heart that I am wrong cause he is a specimen. No doubt about it. But we have all seen many that just never quite get the switch flipped. Zac is a journeyman at best. He is not the one to take us to the promised land. Cody has the physical tool for sure.

Here's is hoping time proves me wrong.

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 9:43PM CST
I dunno, the General better start cleanin' up his passing skills or CG will overtake him like an Indy car in a Nascar race..

Posted by: Viking Husker on November 22, 2009 9:46PM CST
It's hard to evaluate Zak. Early in the season he seemed so scared of mistakes that he never really played his game.

Now he is playing his game, and you can see what his flaws are (staring down his receiver for starters).

Once he has had the experience and made the mistakes, I think he will learn from them. He can put some serious touch on a ball, and if he learns to look off safeties, I honestly believe he could be great, not just good.

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 22, 2009 9:50PM CST
What if Cody is the next Joe Daily and Spano is the next Zak Taylor?
I kind of hope Cody gets red shirted next years another year in the system.

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 9:52PM CST
I wish they'd put CG in there on those option plays.

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 22, 2009 9:53PM CST
Would somone please take the "Just for Men" from Bob Lee, he looks like someone who’s daughter is practicing for beauty school and not very good at it.

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 22, 2009 9:55PM CST
Lets take it to the next Level lets line Zak and Cody up in the same back field and run the option. They could call it the Watscat or Molecat or something.

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 9:55PM CST
Zac looks nothing like his parents. maybe he's adopted and they havent told him yet.

Posted by: Viking Husker on November 22, 2009 9:58PM CST
I wonder if Helu enters the draft this year.

My guess is no. He enters this year and he is looked at as "injury prone." He waits and has a good, healthy year next year and then his junior year showed he was "tough"

Posted by: PT Husker on November 22, 2009 9:58PM CST
Two times in the game Zac's physical limitations showed up. 1. He under threw Niles. Could not throw it far enough. On his interception he had to throw it through two guys to get it there. No other chioce. Not enough on the ball to get it done. Physically Green makes both of those throws.

Zac is playing much better. And I am happy for him and us.Green has the talent to take us up a dimension. Just hope the head catches up with the body.

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 22, 2009 10:00PM CST
Havenlt Googled Zak sister yet, I hear she is a hotie. I refuse to after I got caught up in he whole Keller GF who's hotier Tebow GF or Samies GF.

PT,
how brutal was the late hit on Zak
They showed his mother expression when he took that hit. I felt sorry for her. She looked upset
I hope no yells anything at Zak's parents either.
I would really lose faith in the Husker fans

Posted by: Busiekcreek on November 22, 2009 10:00PM CST
His parents looked like they wanted to be anywhere on earth other than Memorial Stadium. They did not look like happy people. On the other hand Suh's family seemed to be having a great time. Just an observation from the tv cheap seats.

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 10:02PM CST
Oh Bruno, noscript is also handy for being able to see what is trying to run in a browser page then deciding if it's harmless normal javascript or w/e.

It's a pain at first yeah, I'll concede that no doubt.

But after you have gone through the initial pain of getting it all in order, allowing what on what site that you visit often it's not so bad.

And enabling certain scripts or all or none is fairly simple.

For example here on husker extra if I right click the no script symbol down on the browser statusbar I'm given options to allow:

scripts globally
allow all this page
temp allow all this page
~~~~~~~~~~~
recently blocked sites
untrusted
~~~~~~~~~~

forbid google-anylitics.com
~~~~~~~~~~~
forbid huskerextra.com
~~~~~~~~~~~
forbid edge.quantserve.com
~~~~~~~~~~~
allow e.yeildmanager.net
temp allow e.yeildmanager.net
~~~~~~~~~~~
forbid journalstar.com

If it says forbid, then I'm curretly allowing it to run, if it says allow I'm currently blocking it.

Can change that with a simple click, but it does refresh the page if you have that option set , but you can disable that feature if it bother you in options. From my understanding if you was trying to block a script and didn't have it refresh browser, the current script would still run until the next visit.

Just make sure in the options setting under appearance that status bar icon is checked so you can more easily manage things with a right click on the icon...it should be by default I believe, but it's been a long time since I started using noscript so not sure.

Sometimes a pain, but I like having some control of my browsing experience and what happens or doesn't.

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 10:03PM CST
I allow some ads to run oh husker extra because I know it's a revenue stream for them, but it's easy to shut them all off if I want.

Posted by: NishBigRed on November 22, 2009 10:04PM CST
Busie,
I wonder if the Lee's are getting some abuse during the games.
There has to be some idiot in the stands that feels they have the right to tell them thier kid is a bum.
Again I hope not.

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 10:06PM CST
Not sure if they generate any revenue just displaying them or if the ads require a click to generate rev, or in some cases they may be CPA (cost per action) offers that don't generate rev unless one signs up for a free offer or something then the Journal star gets some rev from generating that lead, but I don't get all that annoyed from heir ads I do allow so no biggie.

Posted by: bruNo on November 22, 2009 10:08PM CST
lubes,
thats cool.

so, where do these adware viruses come from, how do they get in, and how do you locate them to get rid of them, if possible?(other than using spyware)

Posted by: PT Husker on November 22, 2009 10:08PM CST
Nish, the hit on Zac looked worse than it prolly was. He is a tough kid though. Bounced right back up like nothing happened.

Not much getting on Zac in the stands that I heard. actually he played pretty well. I think he earned some respect back at OU.

Posted by: PT Husker on November 22, 2009 10:10PM CST

Fans need to remember
Somone offered Zak a scholarship to play at NU. Somone sat in his house and said we want you to play for us.
Somone decided Bo and compnay should make the decisions who should play and who shouldn't
If Zaks not playing lights out is that on Zak or the coaches in the end it's juts a game
If a parent can't sit in the stand and watch his kid play without being insulted there is somothing wrong

Come after me I'm a man!!
lol

Evening Huskers

Busie, my read on Lee's parents: anxious

Worried about his performance as a father who played in the NFL, mother worried about his health as she saw him get hits that sometimes paralyze folks.

I'd look the same way with if it was my son.

Now after the game, where he put in a courageous and skillful effort and won, I bet you'd see some very happy and proud parents.

Posted by: Busiekcreek on November 22, 2009 10:16PM CST
Nish, I hope his parents were treated warmly. And understandably, the whole stadium was not cheering his name like Suh.
Glen Dorsey would always go over after the game and greet his parents and never failed to give his Momma a big hug. That boy was raised right in my book and so was Suh.

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 10:17PM CST
Oh a heads up if using no script, almost all sites that play vids of swf, flv or just about any form will run those vids of a javascript and you'll have to allow it, and sometimes it's not immediately recognizable wcich script is the vid script , but other times it's easily recognizable what is what.

So there's part of the pain process, but hardly enough pain to make it not worth using nocsript.

If it's youtube, you only have to allow it to run once then your done until sometime you decide to change it.

If you are doing some vid search and visiting a ton of sites you hardly visit it could get painful the first time through.

Either deal with it and allow what needs allowed to watch the vid or temp allow globaly, the choice is always yours.

Just hope the Gators take it to the house this year. Everybody puts down on them, but damn, they are just good.

Vote for your favorite coach on the Liberty Mutual site. I voted for Bo and put in a blurb. The grand serpent himself is leading now.

Bru I haven't had to use adware and spyware removal programs much in years, but I have them just in case I do need them.

spybot - search n destroy
lavasofts ad-aware plus, actually it's premium or anniversary now, I don't let it run or startup, it's just a removal tool to me if I need it, not a prevention tool, I got better and less bloated tools for prevention.

There's other free tools I have, but I'd have to take a few minutes and gather links ect for you.

I mean , I have tools to tell me in task manger what a running process is , what program it's associated with ect...very handy if you have a suspicious running process or jut want to know what is what.

If you get a particular pesky issue you can't seem to deal with on your own theirs places to get help.

I had a program back in the day that was real handy to take snapshot of all your running processes ect ect, end to their forum and get some help on what might be the issue and how to deal with it properly.

Some things you have to bootup into safe mode and go through a process of manual removal or they just rewrite themselves.

I'll try to remember the name or see if I still have it. It's handy in stubborn head scratchers.

Like I said, I haven't had to deal with those for 5+ years or so though.

I think process guard and no script has quite a bit to do with me not having to deal with nasty little adware, spyware n trojans of any sort..that and just being more savvy to what's going on than I was.

ccleaner formerly known as crap cleaner is a good free basic tool to use.

It covers some good basics to keep the system running cleanly.

It's also good to run after uninstalling programs to get rid of leftover registry entries or start menu stuff, or unused desktop shortcuts ect ect.

It's not an end all be all tool, but helpful none the less.

I also have registry optimizing programs, disk defraggers much more powerful than windows defragger where you can do things like put all the programs you use in a section of your hard disk where it's accessed faster if you want and programs or archives you hardly access on a slower part of the disk.

That's just one example of the many defragging optimization options it has and stuff such as that to keep things running more smoothly for the most part.

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 10:50PM CST
Bru some adware is just sites that want to track your surfing habits then compile that info and sell it to marketing companies, others want to send you popup ads on their networks ect ect.

I'd make sure that certain things on your sytem are not running like windows messenger service first off...no it's has nothing to do with instans messengers, it's a windows thing used back in the day for microsoft programmers to send files to each other or something like that, but by default it's enabled to run in windows.

Disabling it shuts a door that doesn't have a purpose for the average user so to speak. Adware company's can use it to exploit a system and send non clickable popup ads and other nasties I suppose. No harm in disabling it though.

It fairly simple, programs out there to manage that or I can tell you how to in a few steps...I'd have to look, but it's not that hard.

He's always having spyare adware issues, so I try to help, been there done that but not anymore, seems what I do now works pretty well.

np Bru, keeping the system clean is a never ending battle, luckily mine is easily manged these days. Mac users prob have it easier, but they are just as suspect from malicious scripts and such while surfing as us pc users unless they take certain steps to nullify it too.

Always going to be some punks or goofy companies trying to get info they want or get ads in front of a user and coming up with new ways to do it.

lo, nish that's a question on an adware attack that would take days to answer, it is bigger than you think. I hardly know anything about the how and when ect, but I could spend days explaining what I do know.

You could have a data miner or keylogger on your system and not even know it unless you knew to look and what to look for.

Sites can load scripts and execs from an image if they want, there are as many ways to infect a system as you could imagine.

Nish - the wind chill build character. I was stationed in San Diego for about 1 year, nice weather, but kind of boring to.

I don't ever get pop ups and clean out my cookies and history regularly.

Some installed along with a program you download and install, but you don't pay attention and don't read the fine print or TOS, man I could go on for days of the how or why's.

You either pay attention, know or learn what's running on your system and why or you go the route of no problem now, I'm good , I'll deal with it if and when I have a problem later.

There's no right or wrong answer, we all deal with our systems in our own ways, but it's a land mine field out there even on sometimes seemingly harmless sites.

Borning in SD?
I love San Diego,
Which I could afford to live there.
I hate LA.
Been to SD couple of times to see the Chargers, back when Flutie was playing for them.
Now if you try to go to a game they try and sell you a two gam package.
I won't go to Raiderville, thats just crazy.
One of these days I'm going to go to the Bay and catch a Niner game or Giants.
I had tickets the year Bonds broke the record but I know if I went I would have throw sringes on the field so I passed.

Most of my family is from Hawaii and I was raised in Nebraska, go figure. Haven’t been to the Islands since 82, but I always have relatives in town from there. Good people only thing none of them are over 5’5 and I’m 6ft 220. I tower over them. They always ask how I got so tall and big, I say it was eating all that Nebraska beef.

Nish, I liked San Diego too, the city was not boring, just the weather. Lot's to do there and places to go. And very little smog if any. I have a Nephew who lives there.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on November 22, 2009 11:29PM CST
I got to see Lance Alworth play there in the Old Balboa stadium in the AFL. Those games were fun to watch.

I guess maybe I'm half nerd half athlete. I like figuring things out to some degree so I have a little knowledge without getting too involved so that I'm an expert...Can't go full time nerd just yet.

Like learning how to make this avatar was kinda fun, but painful at the same time...I'm pretty sure I'd much rather been out on the basketball court for hours instead, but the body no agree.

If I ever earn a living from nerdiness, you'll know I've completely turned to the darkside... errr I mean nerdside and then you have my permission to slap the hell out of mefor however long it takes to slap the nerd out of me.

I'm gonna slap that nerd right out of your head, gonna slap that nerd right out of your head.....

IH,
I don't miss the season yet I do miss the seasons.
Went to a concert couples years ago here and met a couple from North Dakota. They was telling me that barley made it to Vegas that the morning of their flight they had to plow their drive way out and then wait two hours for the snow plow to come by
I don't miss that now way.

Funny when I was buying my first house when the mortage brooker found out I was from Nebraska his eyes lit up and wanted to know if I knew places to hunt pheasants back home. I told him where I'm from has some of the best hunting.
I still have friends back home and they have connections to some of the best pheasant hunting.
The brooker still sends me a Christmas card every year.

Step,
Boy Dallas sure rolled today!
Go Big Seven Points.

How did the Eagles do?
Didn't watch the game.

I loved dove hunting, those little suckers seemed to know how to juke at the right time.

My dad liked sneaking in some heavy loads into my gun and laughing his butoff as it kicked harder than I was expecting and bruised up my shoulder.

I liked grazing him from far enough out it was like bb guns fighting...then saying sorry didn't see you there.

Paybacks a btch.

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 11:41PM CST
I'm not expecting any of you to ask me to go hunting anytime soon...lol.

Nish - The Eagles beat the Bears.

You know, met my first real love back in the 60's in San Diego. A very smart young lady who was a student at San Diego State. Her Dad was kind of suspicious of Sailors. Any way, we had a very nice relationship. Our plans were to get married down the road. Sadly she was diagnosed with Brain cancer, and back in those days, there was not much one could do. She died way to young. Took me a long time to get over that. Didn't date for some time.

Posted by: rluben on November 22, 2009 11:49PM CST
Aww it was always from way out, shotguns especially a little bird hunting 410 with dove shot is just a little like a bb gun from way out.

Besides doves you need to put a bead on for a long while to zero in on them, wasn't my fault if he got in my line of sight lol.

Just messing it happened once on accident, had me freaked until I realized he was too far out to cause any harm..did get an arse chewing though lol.

That's when I was saying in my head "paybacks mr paybacks, that'll teach ya to sneak in those heavy loads on me".

Never know which time the big load is up and where I might be aiming.

Wow Islander,
I'm sad now.
You could have ended up living in SD. Sorry about your first love.
To see the Chargers play in the 70s would have been a hoot under Air.

I love the Island of Cornando and have stayed at the Dell, once. Nice place with alot of history. Very expensive.

Some of the places my work takes me I see Antelope all the time. There so stupid. One time a friend of mine hit 7 or 8 of them actually most of them ran into the side of his vehicle. I also see wild horses all the time. Amazing animals.

Posted by: Islander/Husker on November 22, 2009 11:57PM CST
Well, Nish I did not mean to make you sad. But in the end, life moves on, I eventually met and fell in love with my wife and we have been married for 40 years, two great daughters, and three grandchidlren, with one on the way next June. The Lord has truly blessed me.

Have a good one guys, sorry to hear about that first love their I/H. Life throws us some curves sometimes, but we persevere. Hope you're feeling better lately man, I see you had some health issues that prevented meeting up with PT and all, so hope that's behind you.

I don't know if you saw, but I got to meet up with gofor2 for the OKie game here in Seattle and he's a very cool person I/H, you'd really like him.

Well, I had the H1N1 flu, set me back a bit, took me longer to recover than I wanted. I was really bummed about missing the tailgate. But my Dr. and the good wife kind of put the brakes on that. The good news is that I am feeling pretty good now. Hopefully LJS will do a tailgate again next year and I will be able to make an appearance. Not surprised to hear that about Gofor2. Well the Bo show has ended, way past my bedtime. Goodnight.

So we have been setting up Texas all year with our "no offense". Well, I will say this, we have worked on it all year and are quite good at it. Our no offense worked out quite well during the easier part of the season. We will see how well it works from here on out. This must be the secret weapon they have been keeping from everyone all year long. Can you imagine ever using a secret weapon without ever testing it first? What if they forgot to install an off and on switch?

I think we need to come up with little designer oxygen canisters for the CU game. I have a feeling we are going to be needing them on Friday, just 3 days and a wake up from now. I have a feeling Paul, Helu and our front four are going to be gasping for oxygen.

GoFor2, would taking aspirin all this week assist in any way with what they may encounter up there on Friday?
GBR

Posted by: drivebyposter on November 23, 2009 7:18AM CST
gasping for oxygen they will be for sure. The buffalo are grasping for straws.

could be a fair fight

Posted by: Gofor2 on November 23, 2009 7:56AM CST
No
aspirin wouldn't help, and could be harmful with an increased risk of bleeding from trauma.

The only thing that would help is to have the team sleep in these high altitude simulating tents. They reduce the level of oxygen inhaled and stimulate red blood cell production. You have to do it for a couple of weeks. The illegal way is to blood dope (transfusions) or take epo.

The solution: frequent subs, play an inferior opponent, no mistakes and avoid the need for 4th quarter heroics.

Morning, Gofor. i see No No pick up my post about the secret weapon. When he get back later I will respond.

Frankly we don't have a ghost of a chance with Texas. But that is why they play the game.

Man ye have little faith. I heard the same thing about TX this morning from my co-workers. It's ok i understand but i refuse to cowdown to any team. I can't stand Tx.

Posted by: huskers4_eva on November 23, 2009 10:15AM CST
I don't like our chances against texas either, but we still have a chance. The fact that Texas really doesn't use a run attack is beneficial to us rushing four the entire game and making sure we just contain mccoy. Texas also seems to utlize the deep route every game. It seems like whenever i watch highlights of the Texas game its mccoy throwing a deep ball for a TD atleast twice a game. I think our DB's can cover that. Its all about whether our offense can sustain drives and score points. Everybody here knows that. Whether that happens or not is whether Watson has a great game plan and Lee doesn't make dumb mistakes. IMO look for Burkhead to have his best game this year in that game. Mark my words on Burkhead.

Posted by: Busiekcreek on November 23, 2009 10:28AM CST
I think all of us who don't think we stand a chance with Texas should sit down a write a letter stating that to all the team . Be sure to cite all the reasons and be specific.

That should really encourage them to go out and play their hearts out.

Posted by: rluben on November 23, 2009 10:38AM CST
I wish someone would have got the "you have no chance" memo to Iowa state before they came in here and jumped on a bunch of balls laying on the carpet.

Dang, if only someone would have told them not to bother, they wouldn't have went after those fumbles.

Posted by: rluben on November 23, 2009 10:40AM CST
No chance against TX my butt.

Posted by: rluben on November 23, 2009 10:43AM CST
I'll guarantee you this...TX wishes they were playing anyone else from the North other than us.
