Bohn: Pac-10 set to make invites
Posted by: Steve Sipple on June 3, 2010 at 7:08PM CST

OK, it appears the Big 12 could be breaking up before our eyes.

It's a feeling I get down here in Kansas City. But really, it's becoming more than a gut feeling ...

Colorado athletic director Mike Bohn told The Boulder (Colo.) Daily Camera on Thursday he and other school officials have been led to believe the Pac-10 Conference is on the verge of issuing invitations to six members of the Big 12 to join its ranks.

Bohn told the Camera that CU has not had any contact with the Pac-10 or its representatives and he was not clear on how he came to believe invitations could be forthcoming. But he said Colorado, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech could receive invitations possibly as soon as this weekend when Pac-10 officials meet in San Francisco, the newspaper reporter.

"The longer that we were together in Kansas City it appeared that that rumor or speculation did have some validity to it," Bohn said in an interview with the Camera as he left the Big 12 spring meetings.

So, it appears the Orangebloods.com report has legs.

Here's the rest of Daily Camera report. You'll notice that Bohn tempers his above comments just a tad.

BAM!!!

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on June 3, 2010 7:12PM CST
All the rumors in Austin say... it's true. The Big12 South and CU will be offered... and without some sort of mega Big12 deal... they are going.

Looks like Nebraska just got left out with the chumps.

Posted by: boom.roasted on June 3, 2010 7:13PM CST
Well, won't he look stupid if nothing happens this weekend...

Also, this all sort of makes Castiglione look like a real class act after all the Big 12 flag waving he's been doing.

We sure as heck better hope Delaney's gonna offer Nebraska a spot in the Big 10.

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on June 3, 2010 7:16PM CST
Texas is giggling because... all the Nebraska fans cried and cried and said 'we don't want to play 2nd fiddle to Texas'.

So... Texas said... 'ef you'... and left... with everybody else to make more money than you can shake a Longwhorn yang at.

Ok wait a second, "Bohn told the Camera that CU has not had any contact with the Pac-10 or its representatives and he was not clear on how he came to believe invitations could be forthcoming."

So the AD hasn't heard anything and as far as he knows no one back in Boulder has heard anything but apparently it has legs? Isn't this basically the same way that MU acted when that WHB or whatever it was report came out? "We haven't been officially contacted but we wouldn't mind being contacted." It really does feel weird but I'm still not sold just because of this.

Anybody else like how Stepn complains that Nebraska fans talk about Texas too much, and yet every one of his posts is about Texas?

Posted by: Low Country Husker on June 3, 2010 7:17PM CST
why is this a suprise to anyone? This rumor was reported nearly 3 months ago by one of the bloggers.

Look at that picture of the CU AD!!!! Thats hilarious! It looks like a girls' high school prom date photo! lol

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on June 3, 2010 7:19PM CST
boom))) If you can't beat'em... join'em!

Besides... Nebraska fans are done talking about Texas.

It's Sun Belt time baby!

Posted by: The StepnRaZor on June 3, 2010 7:26PM CST
I wonder if Texas could make more cash in the Pac-10... or by themselves? The numbers will be close.

Posted by: Miami Beach Husker on June 3, 2010 7:34PM CST
Nebraska will have quality choices...write it down and put it under your pillow.

Big Red will come out of this whole sqaure dance in good shape and better partners

Screw Texas

Posted by: LosSantosKid on June 3, 2010 7:35PM CST
LOL

Adios Big Texass Conference!

Can't say that there's anything left to miss. At all.

stepn - you really are a Texan all the way through...

Posted by: TomOs on June 3, 2010 7:37PM CST
Hey what about Baylor.. what the heck.. CU over Baylor..

Posted by: LosSantosKid on June 3, 2010 7:38PM CST
Screw Oklahoma, too. And the rest of the North chumps we got lumped in with...the old B8 despised DONU and now they get to make their own way without US. It would be nice to bring Kansas along with to the New Big Super Kickbutt Conference from the plains to the coast, but I don't know how likely...

Posted by: TomOs on June 3, 2010 7:39PM CST
OK we pickup CSU, Kansas, KSt,Iowa St, Drake, SW Missouri, NU and South Dakota St and become the Little 8

Posted by: TomOs on June 3, 2010 7:40PM CST

Throw out Drake.. not sure they have a football team and take a TX school, Baylor..

Posted by: LosSantosKid on June 3, 2010 7:41PM CST
you left out northern iowa, north dakota st and uno (as it's time for them to upgrade)...

Posted by: Goldenrod Husker on June 3, 2010 7:44PM CST
Brian and Sip. Thanks for all the posts recently. I ripped you guys a couple days ago for not enough threads. SORRY. SORRY. SORRY. Great job. Keep up the good work!

This WR will play this coming season and will not count towards next years schollies?

Posted by: TomOs on June 3, 2010 7:48PM CST
Los.. oh God.. you are talking of expansion, already!

Posted by: Miami Beach Husker on June 3, 2010 7:49PM CST
Step, closet UT guy? Burnt orange gets you excited?

Just give us the real word...still enjoy your slant of things either way.

Posted by: RU4NU2 on June 3, 2010 7:53PM CST
Step, I bet you look good in orange. Always thought you were kinda a Texas anyway.

How about NU goes independent and signs a huge TV deal with NBC. (like Notre Dame) NBC can be called the Nebraska/Notre Dame Broadcasting Company. NU and NU can have a game on thanksgiving every year for half of the other guys yearly check.

GBR!

add northwest missouri state for a 12th, TomOs?

Posted by: TomOs on June 3, 2010 7:58PM CST
We need to attach ourselves to.. Baylor.. need to keep a TX school for recruiting purposes..

Posted by: TomOs on June 3, 2010 8:00PM CST
Los .. I dont know about that N.Iowa school.. some say they are pretty tough..

Posted by: TomOs on June 3, 2010 8:03PM CST
Hasnt that NW Missouri school won alot of championships.. before you know it .. they will have the Headquarters there and want the Conference Championship game there also..

Posted by: LosSantosKid on June 3, 2010 8:05PM CST
Sip, I don't know about 'doomsday scenarios', but it's pretty apparent we will have 64 teams in 4 Super Conferences with 8-8 team divisions...whether they tell the ncaa what they need to hear or not is another issue.

But 16-Team Super Conferences heading toward a true national champion is coming...

Posted by: TomOs on June 3, 2010 8:05PM CST
and Baylor doesnt have a Texas in there school name.. no one will really connect the two..

Posted by: TomOs on June 3, 2010 8:08PM CST
Hey Los.. that was my idea.. on an earlier blog.. 4 super conferences.. my division of teams.. may have been questionable though..

Posted by: LosSantosKid on June 3, 2010 8:08PM CST
i wouldn't doubt that a new Super mid America, mid-major conference will develop in the coming years...ndsu and northern iowa, for starters, play and beat big10+/12 teams now.

Posted by: LosSantosKid on June 3, 2010 8:11PM CST
TomOs, it's been the ultimate template for years. Now...it's on the doorstep. I imagine most of the nod-nod-wink-winks set the stage for it all but being a done deal RIGHT NOW. DONU, Missouri to the Big10+ and Colorado-Texass to the West Hollywood 10.

Posted by: TomOs on June 3, 2010 8:19PM CST
Right on Los.. the top 64 teams make it into the super heavy weight CFB division.. and a playoff

Posted by: LosSantosKid on June 3, 2010 8:23PM CST
Bingo TomOs...stay tuned as they say. But don't blink.

When does the current BcS contract run out and when do we start the playoffs?

It's time to get my BTEN+ Network subscription now.

Posted by: TomOs on June 3, 2010 8:33PM CST
BCS contract runs awhile.. 2015 or something.. may be wrong.. but align the conferences.. the intraconference play will eliminate the 64 down to 16 or 8 and start the playoffs, with bowl games the reward for other schools, with winning records, first playoff games at the schools of the highest ranked against the lowest seeded, get down to 4, rotate to bowl site cities every year (rose, sugar, etc.) and then have the National Championship a week or ten days later. Just thoughts... probably alot of holes in the plan..

Posted by: Big Red77845 on June 3, 2010 10:35PM CST
I really hate to see the Big XII disband and teams go their separate ways, but if that's what they want then let 'em go. Sooner than later they will find the grass is not always greener on the other side. Once Texas and Oklahoma start getting beat every year by the USC's UCLA and Oregon schools they will look foolish. As for CU, they'd have better luck in the WAC.

Posted by: Drinkin' Wit' Terrell Farley on June 4, 2010 6:27AM CST
LOL @ Texas and Oklahoma being worried about a bunch of no defense playing mofos in the Pac-10. It should be the other way around. UCLA couldn't score locked in a phone booth last year (c) Charles Barkley.....

ASU is supposed to have the best defense by far in the Pac-10 this year, what does that tell you?

Posted by: Drinkin' Wit' Terrell Farley on June 4, 2010 6:27AM CST
Besides the fact that Slick Rick will have UCLA on probation in two years at the latest anyway.
