wow sip you know they will hang the defense if we give up any points :) i think ASU may be a handful for a while.

Charger,

I agree 100%. NU 51 - ASU 17. ASU gets a late TD w/ the Walk on's and scout team in. ASU rushes for about 70 yds (D is mad that they were called soft). Five sacks on Leonard, two by SUH, the second breaks Leonard completely in half. NU 600 total yds, ASU 190

Posted by: HuskerfromAR on September 11, 2009 11:33AM CST
Bo is completely unsatisfied w/ teams performance leading up to VaTech game, this only will work to make the D even more mad. I have changed my mind, I said earlier that the game will be closer than the score, I think that will be the opposite of what happens, the score will be closer than the game actually is. This w/ only about 40% of the game plan in operation.

HuskerfromAR
Don't know about breaking Leonard in half but i bet he's going to sore. I think the D will be much improved due to the fact Bo pointed out "the butterflys should be gone"

Defense will not be soft this game, they will be on a mission? GBR! 49 ASU 7 in a cakewalk. VT looms big ahead and NU will not show alot nor need too? Zhou Da Hong!

Posted by: charger on September 11, 2009 11:42AM CST
Bo said the D played soft, not the D was soft key work played

Posted by: Wrestler on September 11, 2009 11:54AM CST
Charger inference is the meaning I know what he meant? Sparse words is for a nonplayer, semantics is for knuckleheads? Soft in a game is soft how you play is what you are? Now I think first game and he had to find fault in areas of course for progression? GBR! I didn't say they were soft I said this game they won't be? You don't understand my meaning either I suppose?

Posted by: Displaced_Husker on September 11, 2009 11:56AM CST
NU offense will stay rather "vanilla" this week with a punishing running game. NU 42 ASU 17.

Posted by: charger on September 11, 2009 12:00PM CST
I understand perfectly. Too many big words for me.

Posted by: Wrestler on September 11, 2009 12:01PM CST
"vanilla" I agree 100 percent this game win in the trenches and dominate with better athletes and execution, the bag of tricks are earmarked for VT game, when it could determine the outcome in a close contest? GBR!

Posted by: Exiled_in_VT on September 11, 2009 12:04PM CST
GT gave Clemson a lesson in how to do the trickeration last night.

Posted by: wxhusker on September 11, 2009 12:05PM CST
Arkansas State's offense is that much better than FAU's if at all. Plus I think our defense will rise up to Pelini's challenge.
Their defense is fairly legit though.
NU-31
ASU-10

Posted by: Wrestler on September 11, 2009 12:06PM CST
Good Charger not attacking I in fact think the Huskers were terrific in their first game not because of the opponent entirely as it wasn't stellar but in execution for a first game? But a coach even Misery's coach will find fault in the first game nomatter how good you look for improvement to the opponents where you need to play at high levels to win? I don't think Huskers are soft but you do judge any team by its game performance? Coach Bo felt he needed to tweak and motivate the defense somewhat, end result will be a more dominate game on that side of the ball this week? GBR!

Posted by: Guido on September 11, 2009 12:10PM CST
Let's see ... there is a 23.5 point spread and an over/under of 56.5. So, I'll go with the experts.

NU 45, ASU 21.

I know ya wasn't attacking. Sometimes you know how a coaches comments to the media can become out of context. :) I also agree that the team play well for the first game. You know the kids read the paper. The one thing you can allways count on is that we get the truth for BO.

Going back to what I said in the 3rd post. How much hell do you think the fans will give if we give up 21 points to a sunbelt team? These guys may give us a go.

Posted by: Wrestler on September 11, 2009 12:16PM CST
Guido I would bet the over because of NU's capabilities to put points up and usually when spread gets big towards end your backups are playing and coaches aren't so critical of final score with big spread. So my prediction of 7 maybe too low I think for ASU I see it hitting around 60 simply because NU will be around 50 I suppose! GBR!

Posted by: KChusker on September 11, 2009 12:16PM CST
In an earlier blog I said 51-10 or something like that. I think after studying ASU more I will alter that to 48-13. We have to settle for a field goal at some point and give up an extra field goal. I think the players are too motivated not to improve on last week.
Tempo will be better despite the better opposing D and the D will be better despite the better opposing O. The only thing that scares me is their balance, they are not a one trick pony. GBR!!

Posted by: KChusker on September 11, 2009 12:19PM CST
Hopefully we see some more Green and maybe dive into those lower end backs and recievers. They need some playing time again... even if it is the fourth quarter and the game is in control.

Let the backups put up some points so they know what its like.

Posted by: PT Husker on September 11, 2009 12:21PM CST
21 points. NO way. 7. Maybe 10. what do we know about their kicking game anyway. If the wind is blowing there like it is here today feild goals would be tough.

Backups and playing time is so critical for a D1 season of college football and attrition, just ask OU? So backups and experience is vital to a somewhat smooth transition of injury in the game of football? I think these games are key for that obtainment going into the Big 12 juggernaut? GBR!

Can't wait.

Charger what is the forecast for tommorrow?

Posted by: Guido on September 11, 2009 12:32PM CST
If we take off the rose-colored glasses and remember that Arkansas State is probably the favorite in the Sun-Belt, we can make more realistic predictions. ASU's 1st string is probably fairly matched with our 2nd and 3rd string.

The second half of the game will feature alot of NU backups gaining valuable playing time and experience. The only problem is that most of the time, they end up learning from their mistakes. Arkansas State will score a couple of times in the second half. I don't have a problem with that.

PT what new additions this year do you like can you pt. anything out to Memorial? Does the atmosphere have a different tone to it than in BC days? I know sellouts always there but can you get a feel that crowd knows the glory days are ahead again? Or is there some reserved attitudes of wait and see? Just curious since can't be live with you? GBR!

Dang it JasonMason, that's my prediction too. 45-13.

Posted by: Stillahuskerfan on September 11, 2009 12:42PM CST
After watching VT play Alabama, we have a legit chance to come out with a signature win. We contain the QB, we will win.

Wrestler, this will be my first game this year. anxious to see some of the new technology. but i watch the game not the ribbons etc. Last year was much better than the near past. Louder and more excited. Nothing about wait and see. Just happy to be seeing football again. I look for more of the same this year. However expectations are higher this year so we will see how that plays out.

Nebraska 38 - Ark St. 14
I think we'll have a close game going at the half, 17 - 7. Then we pull away again from them in the second half. They score once more late, on our second and third team D.

Posted by: Wrestler on September 11, 2009 12:46PM CST
I drink one beer a week for the game with GF as I really watch my intake for maintenance of body work. Oh, pijiu, is beer in chinese. Sounds like pea joe. So a little coffee black and mainly green tea. I am a green tea fanatic as it really moves stuff through your system and is great for abs and such. I know people love golf I just heard that described a long time ago to me and loved it. That watching golf on TV is like watching paint dry? I tried to play golf and in Springs when coaching at OTC got a chance to play at Eisenhower golf course at AFA, I once on driving tee hit the ball and lost grip of my driver and club flew farther than the ball, so joking I said I will play the club. GBR!

NU football is special that's for sure. So you should be proud and to be there, you know how many would love to be in your place, the 2 of us for example in HK? GBR! Zhou Da Hong!

Posted by: HuskerfromAR on September 11, 2009 1:01PM CST
I've got to change my prediction due to Watson's "Familiarity" That means bad things for an opposing defense. I still think all things will be the same, except for 59-10. ASU still scores late while NU is up 59-3 late in the 4th. Our O line and receivers are just too talented, fast, smart, and "tenacious" for ASU to handle. Our D is just too mean, smart, and fast. Charger, I still say Leonard gets broke completely in half, though. I'll probably here it here in NE Ar

Posted by: Wrestler on September 11, 2009 1:04PM CST
PT you sly pup, GF in the stadium and me on the outside? Thanks PT you're a winner and I really feel said it more in detail on forum side that the way this is happening I can see a VT and Misery win and a OU win in Linclon for the Huskers? I see OU as a less tiered team now with losses of players and O line subpar. UT and Pokes will battle it out in South. I see NU and KU and Misery in a 3 way battle for North and Huskers my friend will come out on top esp. if they gain the confidence of a VT win? GBR! Zhou Da Hong!

On VaTech--I think you just have to look at last year's game as the baseline. We seem to have a better offensive identity now--more shotgun, fewer heavy sets.
But, the way Alabama took it to them was running right at them, which is a good sign for us.
Defensively, we should be in better shape--they still have no semblance of a passing attack (barring the coverage breakdowns we had last year, which I think are a thing of the past). Their new young RB likes to dance around instead of lowering his shoulder, which is good for us, too.

I don't think the BeamerBall special teams will get too much of an advantage over ours, so I'll go Huskers 31-27.

ASU has a history of waltzing into big-time college football venues and playing tough. They beat aTm last year at College Station and scared the burnt orange off Texas in Austin two years ago.
ASU has an outstanding tailback and a mobile QB. That will enable them to play ball control offense and eat time off the clock. It should result in a tighter game than many are predicting.

VT I like what you have to say and how you break it down? I recommend these extensions as well:
Adblock Plus (no pop-ups, no flashing ads, no annoyances)

My prediction has everything to do with what I believe this team is capable of.

We should overwhelm their o-line and d-line. I do not believe, if we give a full effort, that ASU will be able to move the ball at all. They will eventually force throws and our back 7 will pick off at least 3 tomorrow. I also expect at least 1 fumble recovery.

63-7...and I believe they will score on their first or second series and then they will be done for the day. Shut them out on the first two series and we will have a shutout.

The offense ROLLS thanks to great field position by the defense.

We should ought to win by at least 45. I say Huskers 55-10. The important thing is to keep the intensaty going. Bo said they got soft last week. We gotta get after em and stay after em.

Posted by: Bornhusker on September 12, 2009 2:15AM CST
ASU's offense looked great last week but they're playing a defense that looked mighty good, too. Bo said he saw a lot of flaws in the defense and he knows better than me. I'm sure ASU's coaches saw a lot of flaws in their own offense and defense, too.

So, coming off a 21-7 Toledo-CU prediction, here goes:
Huskers - 45
ASU - 18

Could be worse, but we'll be holding back a lot of stuff for VT.

You are entering a blog that is all things Huskers. No detail is too small to be covered here - hangnails on fourth-string running backs included. So welcome to "Life In The Red," where our Husker Extra writers will provide you with the latest news involving all Husker sports. From the light to the heavy, if it involves the Huskers, we're on it.
