Whats going on? I haven't been on here since Nebraska's bowl game. I've lost in the woods of Alaska since January.

NU should go to the Pac10. Just because I live in AZ and would get to see NU play here once a year has nothing to do with it. Honest.

Nebraska's joining the Big 10 starting the ripple effect that ends the Big 12

Haven't ready every blog so I'm really behind or posting breaking news.

In Vegas Sport talk there have announced the Huskers are going to the Big 10.

The Regents will announce this on Friday.

Their saying it is official here?
So it that old news?

Just watching as the second best football conference in America is deliberately destroyed from within.

Thanks, Dan Beebe.

Thank you, Texas.

ESPN just reported that Nebraska's going. Claim Texas Prez and AD just gathered Longhorns coaching staff and told them they did everything they could to save the Big 12, but that UNL to the Big 10 is a done deal:

I think Beebe and Peterson should go out and have a beer.

Posted by: Low Country Husker on June 9, 2010 6:21PM CST
If this is a done deal when would NU start playing in the Big 10?

Posted by: HuskerFanatic01 on June 9, 2010 6:21PM CST
Should we send Beebe and Texas a fruit basket or something? Thanks to them we're going to the Big 10 sooner rather than talk about it all summer and nothing happen. Thanks guys, Big 10 knows what's up, not Beebe or the lost Big 12.

This reports that it is a done deal is all being by orangebloods.com the Texas fan site. The same site that has been generating these rumors for weeks. Consider the source. Until I read it on here or hear it from the University of Nebraska I am going to take it with a grain of salt.

Taken from Orange Blood. I love the last sentence. Where the TX AD states they did everything possible to save the Big 12.

Someday he will stand before a higher power and I hope he is counseled on his lying.

A source close to the Nebraska Board of Regents told Orangebloods.com the regents informally agreed Wednesday to move to the Big Ten and that a formal announcement Nebraska is leaving will come Friday.

Sources close to Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech have suggested to Orangebloods.com over the last week that if Nebraska leaves, the Big 12 can't be saved.

Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds and president Williams Powers gathered UT coaches today at 2 p.m. CT to tell them they did everything they could to save the Big 12 but that they were unsuccessful.

Let us all hope that Iowa State, Kansas, KSU, Missouri and even Colorado find a suitable place.

I am extremely grateful to the Big 10 and each and every member thereof that has invited our Huskers into their home as a new member of their long and storied family.

I think that all of the great fans would agree that they have chosen well and we have done well to be chosen.

I am really excited to be able to watch and attend what will no doubt be some of the best athletic competition that I have seen in some time.

This is a great day for the University of Nebraska. I can only image the pride that is beaming from within the educational staff knowing that they have subtstantially contributed in allowing the University to be positioned to take advantage of this new opportunity.

*These reports that it is a done deal is all being REPORTED by....

Texas claims they "did everything they could to save the conference."

Riiiiiggghhhht.

All we wanted was a Big XII television deal with all teams on board, and a rotating North/South conference championship game.

What, precisely, was so unreasonable about that?

Remember how Nebraskans REJECTED the special treatment Ben Nelson negotiated for us during the hostile healthcare takeover? We didn't want everyone else paying Nebraska's bills. We just wanted equal treatment.

That's all we were seeking in the Big XII.

Dan Beebe and UT thought that was asking way, way too much.

Have fun in the Pac-16.

When does Nebraska move to the Big 10?

After tHe 2010-2011 year, would be great really leave the Texas Schools with a nasty taste when we collect the Big 12 title as we head out the door. Ideal set up would be beat both UT and Texas A&M and meet Oklahoma at Jerry's Place. even sweeter would be for a last second punt to hit that jumbotron.

If there was ever a time to be humble I believe that now might be a good time.

Regardless of the sometimes hard feelings that have grown over the years we should remember that Nebraska may have been in a fairly difficult position had the Big 10 not extended a fair and respectful offer.

The Big 10 is a really nice fit for UNL and UNL is a really nice fit for the Big 10.

Let us enjoy our new opportunity with class.

There are dozens of legitimate reasons to convey many antagonizing thoughts.

Sometimes it is better to move on with the dignity of knowing you were right rather than to move out with hatred and disdain.

Posted by: HuskerzFL on June 9, 2010 6:54PM CST
Well said BleedingRed.

Posted by: BleedingRed on June 9, 2010 7:14PM CST
Thanks HuskerzVA,

Apparently, it is a practice post since it seems that this is not, and may not be, a done deal.

I am glad that I am moving more toward the class of Dr. Osborne though in my old age. :)

For anyone interested, the magnitude of the changes that are coming are really starting to sink in for a lot of people here in the Kansas City area. You should hear the sports radio shows down here!

I can imagine Bleeding. KSU and KU will be really in a tough position. Missouri is also getting a cold shoulder from the Big 10 now according to some sources. I wish we could keep our long time rivalries, but when the Big 12 was formed, it also created the seeds for its own destruction. Its just too bad that the other Big 8 schools didn't stand together then. Its kind of ironic now that officials at the other Big 8 schools are trying to guilt NU by talking about loyalty and tradition.
