CloseWhat is this?
my.JournalStar.com is a civic social network for people, groups and businesses located in Nebraska.

OK, but what does that mean?
We’re aiming to foster a local community dedicated to discussion and expression. At our sister site, JournalStar.com, we cover events that our reporters and editors dig up. This site is dedicated to the stories and thoughts that happen around or adjacent to those events, as well as providing a place for you to share and start your own discussions.

At my.JournalStar.com, every person can have a personal blog and photo gallery as well as a profile. You can be as public or private as you want to be in what you share. You can add other people to your friends’ list, just as you would on sites like Facebook. Click here for the full FAQ on how to manage your profile and online posts.

In addition to your individual space on my.JournalStar.com, you also can participate in forums or join groups within the community. Groups can be anything from a Husker fan gathering, a neighborhood association, or a way for local musicians to keep in touch with each other.

Can I promote my Business on my.JournalStar.com?
Yes! Businesses can participate in this local community with a profile of their own. All basic business listings are free, and they’re managed by the my.JournalStar.com staff. To really take advantage of the my.JournalStar.com network, businesses can purchase an enhanced profile for a small monthly fee. This allows businesses to stay in touch with their most loyal customers, offer coupons, showcase products and announce special events. Contact our sales staff if you’re interested by e-mail at Nebraskaspot@my.JournalStar.com.com or (402) 473-2643.

Is there anything I can’t do?
You can post anything you’d like here, within reason. Check out terms of service for the full rundown of do’s and don’ts, but it basically boils down to common sense and common courtesy. If you wouldn’t say it in public, don’t post it in public.

Kansas State Prediction ThreadFri, 20 Nov 2009 11:43:31 Z
I say Huskers 31, Purple Kitties 12. Nice season by Kstate, but I think Missouri took the wind out of their sails last week. Both teams have lots to play for, but Nebraska will be ready. Bo will make sure of that and the memorial statdium crowd will give Kstate problems all night.

Sound Off: Do you think geo-engineering has a place in stopping global warming? The story: If there were some kind of panic button to stop global warming, what would it look like? How about billions of tiny mirrors, launched into orbit to deflect solar rays away from Earth? Or big, fluffy clouds, artificially whitened so they reflect more sunlight back into space? Or maybe mechanical trees, ugly but...

TierOne mismanagementThu, 12 Nov 2009 14:58:13 Z
TierOne, a Lincoln based institution, is imploding before our eyes and there has been little reader response. You might say it is due to the economy, but that would be the easy way out. I say it was due to blatant mismanagement of lending in areas (geographically) where they were outside their expertise. I don't see other Lincoln or Omaha area banks in the same dire straights. They should have...
